This paper addresses the question about what role typography plays in the interpretation of a text. From three different handbooks in typography arguments are gathered and categorized in to three categories: roman types, san serif and others. Interviews with people from the graphic design area are also a part of the paper and are accounted for in the discussion part of the paper. Areas of theory are a broad hermeneutic view based on Hans-Georg Gadamers thoughts, which have sub categories such as: Michel Foucault?s theory about discourses, John Swales genre theory and Anders Björkvall?s thoughts on typography and multi-modal texts.

This thesis has the purpose that through a text analysis examine how four schoolbooks for high school treats the religions Judaism and Hinduism. The schoolbooks are from the years 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2009. The perspectives are from a religious viewing point, that means that the women are religious, Jewish feminists and Hindu feminists. The theories used are written by these women and are academic litterature.  The questions are how are women represented in the schoolbooks, is the feminist critique present or are the two religions represented and described in an invariable way, and is the description of Judaism and Hinduism consistent with the curriculum?The text analysis used in this examination means that reality is organized through and by the language used by the actors in that reality.

The purpose of this thesis has been about processing an already existing folder for a tax funded organization which is also the employer for this mission ? Expectrum. The reason is that both Expectrum themselves and the recievers of the folder are unhappy with the existing material. The critic that has been directed to Expectrum is that the recievers have trouble understanding what Expectrum is and what they do. The purpose of this paper is to compare the content and political message in the election posters of the political parties Sverigedemokraterna and Feministiskt Initiativ. This is achieved through a qualitative content analysis combined with text and rhetorical analysis as well as semiotics. Out of all the election posters from Sverigedemokraterna and Feministiskt Initiativ with national spread, eight were analyzed. The conclusions of this analysis are that both political parties prefer posters with high text content with the main purpose of gathering votes, and that persons were used as motives with the objective to present the party representatives and strengthen their perceived ethos..

The aim of this study is to explore how the people with a mental functional disorder experience living support. This studies research questions are; What kind of help do the clients receive from living support? Do they feel that they need more help or do they receive more help then they fell that they need? What does the relationship look like between the clients and the supporter? To answer these questions a qualitative research approach was used. Four clients where interviewed. The results are presented using themes and quotations.

Denna studie undersöker begreppet elevnära som används i Kursplan för Svenska från år 2008. Kvalitativa intervjuer har gjorts med fem yrkesverksamma lärare för att ta reda på deras tolkningar. Skolverkets förklaring av begreppet utforskas även.Intervjuernas resultat analyseras enligt en fenomenografisk ansats och lärarnas åsikter har placerats in i ett antal beskrivningskategorier. Analyserna av resultaten visar att både de intervjuade lärarna och Skolverket ser till flera olika aspekter av vad elevnära innebär, men Skolverket har dock en bredare syn.Alla de intervjuade lärarna har olika definitioner, vilket visar att det är problematiskt att i ett styrdokument använda ett begrepp där tolkningsfriheten kan vara stor. I och med att kursplanerna är målstyrda är det viktigt att dessa mål är tydliga så att lärarna kan förstå dem.

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe through a quantitative study the extent of support received by foster families, their opinion of the support and any areas that might need improvement. The foster families receive foster care support through a private agency. We concentrated on the following areas of support; education, health, contact with the children?s biological relatives and behavioral difficulties. These four areas have, in previous research, shown to be problematic for foster children.

Due to political decisions regarding the Swedish school, public and independent schools booth face the need topromote themselves in the quest for new pupils. This study aims to, from a communications perspective, examine how four selected upper secondary schools address their target audience; the pupils?to?be, on their homepages. Additionally, I intend to investigate whether, and if so, how, said addressing can be connected to the different target groups applying to the schools in question.The questions asked in this study regard the way in which the selected schools describe themselves on their homepage; how do they use the textual and visual content to address their audience, and can there be disagreement between the meaning of the text and that of the image? To answer these questions, I use a theoretical base made out of visual communication and semiotic as well as rhetorical analyses.The methodological procedure is a qualitative approach on the matter, allowing me to understand the ?what? of the content on the homepages, as well as the ?how? it?s being communicated.

Denna kvalitativa studie har som syfte att ta reda på hur fyra kvinnors förståelse och tankar kring våldtäkt ser ut. Frågeställningen behandlar vilka handlingar och omständigheter som krävs för att kvinnorna skall kunna kalla ett övergrepp för våldtäkt, samt huruvida den kvinnliga partens (offrets) alkoholpåverkan, klädsel, beteende, tidigare sexuella historia och relationen till gärningsmannen påverkar kvinnornas syn på om ett övergrepp är en våldtäkt eller inte. Kvinnorna i urvalet är mellan 20-35 år och bor i små och mellanstora städer. Två kvinnor har personliga erfarenheter av sexuellt utnyttjade och samtliga kvinnor har någon i sin närhet som har blivit utsatt. Intervjuerna har varit semistrukturerade och i analysen har det använts en fenomenologisk baserad meningskoncentrering där materialet är tematiserat med utgångspunkt i frågeställningarna.Våldtäkt är ett begrepp som kan te sig trivialt men som är allt annat än det.

Today the common people begin to understand the impact of a package. Many choose brand or product with great emphasis on how the outside looks, both in a good and a bad way.The company Gotlands Grafiska gave me the task to create a small basic selection of packages. The target group that the project was based on was craftsmen in the Gotland region. Based on analysis of the market and consumers to develop a range of packages covering a wide range of products sold on the island.During the project a clear theme was the desire to highlight a product and create some sort of exclusivity. It was important to understand how consumers and businesses think about packaging and its function.The result was five different packages, which together cover much of the need for the Gotland crafts and souvenir market.

För att skapa trovärdig tredimensionell datorgrafik krävs det att det går att skapa illusionen av tre dimensioner på en tvådimensionell skärm. Enkelt beskrivet finns det två stora metoder för detta, rasterisering och strålföljning. Dessa är fundamentalt olika.Den senaste generationen grafikkort för konsumenter har grafikprocessorer som till viss grad blivit programmerbara. Grafikprocessorerna är främst konstruerade för att stödja rasterisering men den nya programmerbarheten ger möjligheten att använda dessa mer generellt.I detta arbete görs en undersökning om huruvida det är möjligt att använda den nya programmerbarheten för att realisera strålföljning istället för rasterisering. Matematiska primitiver används för att skapa objekt och med hjälp av strålföljning kan realistiska bilder av objekten skapas.

Uppsatsen ger en retorisk analys av tidningsdebatten Ranelidfejden 2003. Fejden startade med skribenten Linda Skugges recension i Expressen av Björn Ranelids bok Kvinnan är det första könet. Inom kort publicerades artiklar i Dagens Nyheter och Svenska Dagbladet som ifrågasatte Skugges kompetens som kritiker. Uppsatsen undersöker dessa artiklar och hur de argumenterar för att upprätthålla respektive bryta mot de normer som finns kring traditionell litteraturkritik. Detta görs genom att utgå från Kenneth Burkes dramatistiska analys inklusive ett genusperspektiv.
