Companies? ability to differentiate themselves from their competitors becomes increasingly difficult when standardized technical solutions are used, which means that the employees become the most important resource. Many workplaces consist of a mix of employees with different backgrounds and of different ages, which highlight the generational perspective. Previous research has long focused on different generational drivers and of motivation at work, but there has been few studies in which the transfer of knowledge between generations have been examined. With that as a background, a qualitative interview study was conducted at a major IT company to investigate how employees legitimize knowledge and how it affects the transfer of knowledge between generations.

Superficial digital flexor tendon injuries are common causes of premature Retirement or pre-longed convalescence periods for race horses. The curve gradient at Täby Galopp race track is very small and most races as well as high speed training are done on the left rein. It is believed that the horses left foreleg is under considerably more strain then the right foreleg when being ridden on the left rein during gallop at high speed. During gallop on the left rein the horse puts its entire weight on the left foreleg when regaining ground contact. The purpose of this study has been to find out, through analyzing the statistics concerning the horses that visited the ATG clinic at Täby during a period between January 2003 and September 2006, whether there is a higher frequency of superficial digital flexor tendon injuries on the left leg rather than the right and if so, can this support the theory that the design of the race track in combination with continuous left rein races can be a contributing cause of these injuries. The result of the study shows that 57% of the tendon injuries occurred on the left front leg and 38% on the right front leg. The difference is not large enough to support the above theory of the underlying cause of these injuries..

Syftet med studien var att beskriva äldre personers erfarenheter av aktiviteter efter pensionering. Då författarna ville lyfta fram erfarenheter valdes en kvalitativ metod. Åtta intervjuer utfördes med pensionärer boende i en kommun i södra Sverige. Intervjumaterialet analyserades utifrån en kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys vilket resulterade i tre kategorier: Förändringar av aktivitetsmönster i samband med pensionering, Pensionärers utförande av dagliga aktiviteter samt Betydelsen av att vara aktiv. Resultatet från de tre kategorierna visade hur aktivitetsmönstret förändrades efter pension och deltagarna beskrev att det var viktigt att ha aktiviteter att sysselsätta sig med på dagarna.

This work is designed to monitor developments in the relationship between teacher and student in the school environment, but also outside, from the 1950s until today. The survey was based on four interviews with teachers in the same age, and based on their life stories. Their experiences range from student to novice teachers and a long working life until Retirement. In addition, all four children has a parent perspective. ?Pensionsvägledning? är ingen nationellt förekommande verksamhet. Tidigare forskning visar att förberedelser inför pensioneringen ökar både individens livslängd och underlättar omställningen. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om nyblivna ålderspensionärer har ett behov av vägledning i skapandet av ett meningsfullt pensionärsliv. I studien undersöktes med intervjuer av fyra nyblivna ålderspensionärer deras nuvarande levnadssituation, anpassningen till pensionärslivet och synen på livslångt lärande.

Around 30,000 people in Sweden suffer stroke every year, out of which about 12,000 end up with language difficulties, aphasia. Behind every person with aphasia there are significant others whose lives are also affected. Studies of how aphasia affects the health of these people are few. The overall aim of the present study was to examine how significant others of people with aphasia perceive their life situation, and how their quality of life is affected by the illness of their partner. Spouses of people with aphasia were contacted through aphasia groups and the Swedish Aphasia Association.

With starting point in the increasing ill-health in Swedish working life today, in form of for example absence due to sickness and early Retirement pension, and the knowledge that the working environment effects peoples health in a big extent, I found it very interesting to inquire into how people within the working life experience health promotion and how this can be developed. A qualitative method was used to receive a deeper understanding for the employees? experiences and data was collected through semi structured interviews with employees on a bank called Ikanobanken, in Älmhult. The result shows, among other things, that respondents find responsibility and the opportunity to influence the learning processes and development important. It also became clear that the respondents find participation, motivation, communication and safety essential factors when related to changes in health behaviours.

SammanfattningDenna studie syftar till att undersöka hur enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen resonerar kring begreppet värdighet hos äldre personer som bor på särskilt boende, samt hur de ser till att deras personal omsätter värdighet i det praktiska arbetet. Värdighetsbegreppet diskuteras främst i förhållande till komponenterna bemötande och självbestämmande. Studien genomfördes med en kvalitativ forskningsmetod i form av semisstrukturerade intervjuer med fem enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen. I analysen användes fyra olika teorier om värdighet, nämligen (I) meritvärdighet, (II) värdighet som moralisk resning, (III) identitetsvärdighet samt (IV) människovärde. Studien visar att begreppet värdighet rymmer en mängd olika beståndsdelar enligt enhetschefer för äldreomsorgen.

This thesis puts together general guidelines for the design of outdoor environment at nursing homes for people with dementia. The goal is to give the residents a greater quality of life with the garden.The garden must be safe and secure while offering places for fellowship or Retirement and experiences of joy and competence. The plant material and other elements in the garden are inserted to stimulate the senses and to inspire to different activities. The paper describes the health promoting effects of nature and gardens by referring to scientific studies. These studies encompass the impact of nature on all human beings as well as how the outdoor environment affects our target group, elderly people with dementia. An essential part of the work focus on the conditions in a garden for people with dementia, on the contact between residence and garden and the access to surrounding life. Eventually, the general guidelines are applied to a real building project ? the Vega project in Lomma,a new nursing home for persons with dementia.

För att uppnå ett långsiktigt hållbart samhälle ställs idag höga krav på en miljömässigt och ekonomiskt hållbar utveckling. Samhällets expansion i form av nybyggnation är en stor del i detta. Genom att planera och bygga mer långsiktigt hållbara byggnader så kan dessa krav uppfyllas. Att skapa flexibla byggnader, som kan anpassas efter samhällets framtida behov, leder till en effektivisering av lokalutnyttjandet och genererar mer långsiktigt hållbara byggnader. I Sverige är kommunerna landets största byggherrar och de har därför ett stort ansvar att förse samhället med fastigheter och då framförallt offentliga lokaler.

The study investigated pensioners? forming of identity during the ageing process and the correlation between norms and identity. Previous research has shown that there are norms and notions about elderly and what growing old well implies. There is missing research on the level of the individual with norms, ageing and the process of identity formation. There is a large population of pensioners in Sweden and the authors behind this study wish that the results of it will help study counsellors to approach pensioners? in a norm critic way.

From a time where employees often remained at one company until Retirement, globalization and changed employment patterns have created a more mobile labor market in the last years. In an effort to expand the connection between organization and employee a rising interest in corporate alumni networks has emerged. Previous research has shown that conditions for such networks are formed through employees social identification, perceived organizational support and organizational citizenship and can be shaped by company's HR practices.This paper aims to examine two case companies' perceived benefits through alumni relations as well as their HR prac-tices, in order to increase understanding surrounding the relationship between the two areas. Further the study intends to draw conclusions about the role of corporate alumni networks in the creation of the received benefits.The study indicates that HR practices, through the creation of an organizational citizenship behavior, can influence the conditions for beneficial alumni relations. Results show that some expected benefits of alumni relations can be re-ceived through strong citizenship.

We investigated a Retirement home, where we looked at whether there are differences, disagreements or conflicts between teams who work day and night shifts. Our purpose was to examine the Heads of Unit and the employees perspectives on their perceived work situation, cooperation difficulties and why they emerged. We chose the general systems theory as our theoretical basis, which gave us the opportunity to highlight different parts that can affect the working climate and the cooperation of the working groups. The study also highlights the importance of structure, common goals, reporting and dialogue meetings. To understand the perceived work situation, we used methodological triangulation, using quantitative and qualitative methods (surveys, semi-structured interviews).

Bakgrund: Att vara äldre innebär förluster av många olika slag, bland annat fysiska förmågor, förlust av närstående, och förmågan att upprätthålla eller skapa nya relationer. På ett äldreboende är den äldre inte objektivt sett ensam, utan har alltid andra människor omkring sig. Trots det är det många äldre som upplever ensamhet sin sista tid i livet. Tidigare forskning har visat att det är av betydelse att vårdaren är lyhörd, öppen och visar ömsesidighet i vårdrelationen. Problem: För många ensamma äldre är vårdrelationen den enda relationen de har.

Bakgrund: Politiker och forskare har börjat uppmärksamma övergrepp mot äldre på äldreboende som ett globalt problem. Studier visar att övergrepp sker internationellt som nationellt. Syfte: Denna studie syftar till att uppmärksamma övergrepp av vårdpersonal mot äldre på äldreboende, att ta reda på om det finns några faktorer som bidrar till dessa övergrepp, samt att ta reda på hur detta problem kan hanteras och helst undvikas. Metod: Två fokusgrupper deltog i studien, där ena gruppen bestod av fem undersköterskor och den andra av fem vårdbiträden. Ett snöbollsurval användes för att finna de relevanta personerna.
