A key part in the development and verification of digital systems is simulation. But hardware simulators are expensive, and software simulation is not fast enough for designs with a large number of gates. As today?s digital zesigns constantly grow in size (number of gates), and that trend shows no signs to end, faster simulators handling millions of gates are needed. We investigate how to create a software gate-level simulator able to simulate a high number of gates fast.

Denna studie har som ansats att diskutera vad populärkulturen har för påverkan. Detta görs genom att anta ett mindre perspektiv och ta upp hur populärkulturella tv-serier om terapi kan påverka och har påverkat de bilder som finns av terapi och terapeuter. Genom att tillämpa en kvalitativ metod har semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra terapeuter och psykologer genomförts. Detta ger ytterligare ett nytt perspektiv då det är de som omfattas av mediebilden som ges möjlighet att diskutera den. Frågorna som tagits upp är huruvida de populärkulturella skildringarna är att betrakta som representativa och vad det kan ha för betydelse.

The award-winning Norwegian novelist Karl Ove Knausgård achieved great success with his latest book, Min kamp. Both commercially and critically, the novel was praised for its seemingly successful attempt to transcend the boundary between fiction and real life. Focusing on the auto-fictional narrator?s struggle to balance his daily life with his ever so demanding aesthetic ambitions, the novel gives high-detail descriptions of the most basic day-to-day chores, intimately mixed with philosophical reflections on topics such as painting, literature and postmodern civilisation.This essay proposes an alternative perspective on the realism of the novel. Instead of relying on a correspondence theoretical view, which highlights the level of correspondence of a particular Representation with reality, I seek, inspired by Martin Heidegger?s thoughts on works of art, to trace a poetics which sees the verity in a work of art as the ?unconcealment? of the world, or the coming-to-being of objects.

Att kommunicera gestaltningsidéer genom visualiseringar av verkligheten är väsentligt för landskapsarkitekter. Mänskliga figurer, så kallade skalfigurer, placeras alltid i perspektivbilder och spelar där en nyckelroll. Tidigare forskning visar att de människor som representeras i landskapsarkitekters perspektivbilder inte överensstämmer med de verkliga demografiska strukturerna i Sverige. Personer med utländsk bakgrund, äldre, funktionshindrade och personer som bär kläder som tyder på religionstillhörighet är underrepresenterade i bilderna. Skalfigurer förstärker därför en vedertagen norm i samhället om att de flesta svenskar är vita, unga och utan synliga funktionshinder.

The Squares Family is a game developed as a learning aid in mathematics. With its graphical Representation of the decimal system, the four basic arithmetic operations and positive and negative numbers together with a learning agent as pedagogical approach, the game?s primary purpose is to motivate students in their learning of mathematics. Although the game is strictly based on mathematical rules it attempts to encourage students to play and work with math without experiencing it as mathematics as this is initially not obvious. The game being internationally tested on normal performing students, this project introduced the game to six Swedish students who experience low motivation for and/or difficulties in mathematics.

J.O. Mallander?s Extended Play (1968) is a sound recording, a readymade, of the counting of votes in two presidential elections in Finland, during 1962 and 1968. A voice repeats monotonously: ?Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen?? Although the Finnish president Urho Kekkonen represents, almost personifies, the politics of the post World War II period in Finland, Extended Play does not explicitly address the political. Rather, as this essay argues, it engages in the discourses of power and politics by providing a temporalization of its fixedness, or what Jacques Derrida terms the proper.Extended Play is, in parallel with Derrida?s critique of western metaphysics, a deconstruction in sound that challenges the state ideologies conveyed in the process of the counting of votes, where the presuppositions of the presence of the voice characterizes the ambiguities of power that Kekkonen?s politics of neutrality represent.Mallander?s readymade emerges as a double of the game theory strategies of the Cold War, a mimetic surplus of the administrative control mechanisms of sound recording.

The visual Representation of management (board of directors, chief executive officer and executive management) in annual reports is an area of scholarship that has not been explored much. In the present study a sample of 87 annual reports from business enterprises within a Swedish context, comprising about 300 photographs, was analyzed using an explorative method of analysis based on semiotics and grounded theory. The influence of the context on images raises a question discussed in the study: Should the photographs in the annual report be categorized as portraits, advertisements and others or should the annual report be regarded as a genre of its own? The photographs showed patterns of homogeneity regarding gender, dress, gestures, colours, pictorial compositions et cetera. The position of the (male) CEO is privileged, but he is also connected to the group through various means like dress and style, thereby further underscoring management as a male enterprise and demonstrating the importance of the suit and necktie in creating homosocial bonds.

Fairy tales are commonly considered to be both timeless and classless. Since the 17th century, when most of the tales we have access to today were first collected and published, the idea that fairy tales are part of an oral tradition, and therefore more or less uninfluenced by academic and literary trends, have been dominant amongst researchers, critics and readers. This idea needs to be revaluated. Even if the tales might have their roots in an oral tradition the history of the fairy tale ?is not primarily a history of oral transmission, but rather a history of print?, as Elizabeth Wanning Harries puts it (Wanning Harries, 2001:4).

This study examines how the media reports on the Pride Festival in Stockholm and what news topics and themes it prioritizes. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether the media coverage of Pride highlights political questions related to social and societal problems. One of the main focuses of the study is on how the media covers male and female homosexuality. The newspapers examined are the tabloids Aftonbladet and Expressen and the respected dailies Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet. The study extends over three periods: 19-07-2010 to 07-08-2010, 25-07-2011 to 14-08-2011, and 24-07-2012 to 11-08-2012.Several key theories and themes frame the study.

Syfte: Studien ämnar utforska på vilket sätt framställningen av herr- respektive damfotboll skiljer sig i dagstidningar. Särskild vikt läggs på att undersöka om herrfotbollen framställs som normen och damfotbollen som en avvikelse.Teori: De teorier som ligger till grund för den här studien är fyra till antalet. Den första, Representation, förklarar hur allt runtomkring oss i själva verket är sociala konstruktioner. Den andra, könskonstruktion, reflekterar kring begreppen maskulinitet och femininitet samt dess inkluderade maktaspekt. Den tredje, stereotypisering, handlar om hur vissa människor riskerar reduceras genom medierade framställningar.

Gender equality and gender equality work is relevant for today's working life, and previously male-dominated occupations may be increasingly under pressure to become more equal. This paper aims to explore and understand how the firefighters at a station are experiencing gender and gender equality in rescue services.Using theories of how sex is done, how a power perspective and a structural approach can show men's and women's different conditions in an organization, and theories that are more specific to gender and change management the firefighters talk about gender and gender equality are analyzed. Essay results were collected through interviews with seven firefighters and then analyzed and interpreted with the help of theories.The analysis shows that there is a perception among the firefighters that men and women are biologically different and that required physical strength legitimizes the exclusion of women. Inequality is seen as something natural and by pursuing an active gender equality women are given unwarranted benefits. When physical strength becomes a legitimate reason for exclusion, the responsibility for gender inequality is put on women and that women don?t have what it takes.There is also a resistance against gender equality analyzed in the paper, and it's stated opposition seems to be directed against the management's way of recruiting women.

Detta arbete redovisar resultat från en studie om hur barn i en förskoleklass uttrycker och tecknar fram sin Representation av sina genussystem. Jag har främst fokuserat på om barnen beskriver aktiviteter som maskulina eller feminina samt hur barnen fokuserar på pojkars och flickors utseende. Studiens resultat visar att det finns lekar/aktiviteter som dessa barn ser som främst maskulina respektive feminina. Exempel på dessa är dans, som anses som en feminin aktivitet samt TV-spel som anses som en maskulin. Enligt de teckningar som barnen producerat finns ingen gemensam aktivitet som anses vanlig för båda könen.

Denna intervjustudie utforskar människors erfarenheter från ett långtgående jämställdhetsprojektsom bedrivits i en ideell politisk ungdomsorganisation. Syftet är att undersöka erfarenheterna frånjämställdhetsprojektet för att förstå hur det genomförts, att identifiera potentiella analytiskaingångar för vidare forskning, och att leta efter eventuella överförbara strategier förjämställdhetsarbete. Organisationen sjösatte för ett antal år sedan ett stort internt förändringsprojektmed målet att ?killar och tjejer ska kunna vara medlemmar på lika villkor.? Arbetet har fått relativtstora effekter i organisationen, mycket har förändrats i fråga om makt, utrymme och Representation.Projektets effekter och de strategier som använts utforskas i denna uppsats resultatdel. I analysdelenläggs olika teoretiska perspektiv på det empiriska resultatet i syfte att identifiera analytiska ingångarför vidare forskning.

It has since long been noticed that savior figures from different religions have reminded of each other, and there are different theories trying to explain why. This study examines religions operating in the same culture, and in this case, judaism and zoroastrianism, and their influence on each other. In particular, focus is on zoroastrianism's image of the savior figure Mithra, and how this Representation may have influenced the description of the Messiah in the Talmud. How are the two figures represented in the scriptures and what similarities can be identified?By a thorough content analysis the studie examines the Avesta of zoroastrianism and the Talmud from judaism.

School and education are topics that are frequent in Swedish media. The intention of this essay has therefore been to investigate the image of teachers and their profession in Swedish daily press. The overall aim has been to analyze how teachers are portrayed in the debate that followed the TV-show Klass 9A, and by that find how the debate defines the concept of a good teacher. The Representation that was found was then compared to earlier studies. The series was shown on Swedish television between January and March 2011.26 articles were chosen and the ambition was to have various perspectives represented, such as different voices and also papers from different areas of the country.
