Deciduous forests are, according to the National Environmental Quality Objectives, a priority area. Deciduous forests are rich in species and the occurrence of dead wood is an important factor for biodiversity. In order to identify valuable deciduous forests for bio-diversity, conservation needs good analyses and planning tools. Habitat models combined with geographic information systems can be used to study the spatial structure of suitable habitat. The Lesser spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor) has been proposed as an indicator species for deciduous forests, since this species is highly specialized on insect larvae in dead wood and requires large areas of deciduous-rich environments. Many riparian forest with high species richness and high nature conservation values are found along the Ume river in Umeå municipality.

Västerviks kommun har under tiotals år haft en vikande befolkningsutveckling men under de senaste åren har en förändring skett och trenden har brutits. En stor satsning på att uppföra sjönära bostadsområden nära staden har lockat till inflyttning, och kommunen vill fortsätta den utvecklingen. Solbergsudde ligger strax utanför Västervik och det finns långt framskridna planer på att där uppföra ett nytt attraktivt bostadsområde med blandad bebyggelse. Solbergsudde präglas av en lantlig skärgårdskaraktär och idag finns där 17 bostadshus/fritidshus som ej är planlagda. Problem finns med både enskilda läckande avloppsanläggningar och brist på färskvatten.

Examensarbetet utgörs av en omfattande analys samt bakgrundsmaterial som redogör för planerings-förutsättningar samt problematik för planområdet. Analyserna och bakgrundsmaterialet mynnar sedan ut i ett planförslag som vägt ihop alla tillgängliga fakta och skapat en fungerande och attraktiv helhet. I huvudsak består planförslaget av följande delar: Arbetet tar upp ett översiktligt förslag till ett nytt resecentrum byggt utifrån den befintliga stationsbyggnaden. Även närområdet kring resecentrumet utvecklas för att skapa en attraktiv helhet som passar in i staden. Längs med Tullkammarkajen utvecklas ett nytt bostadsområde med vattennära bebyggelse.

The conclusionis: Planners and scientists should have anunderstanding for the complexity of thecountryside; otherwise there is a risk oflosing the characteristics of the country.The legislation, goals and conventionswhich have an impact on the Swedishcountryside are both national and international.To find out how the settlementdevelopment is dealt with, I havestudied the Swedish building legislations(among others, plan- och bygglagen andmiljöbalken).Similar to the difficulties on finding asuitable definition for the term countryside,it is complex to define the term sustainabledevelopment.

In an effort to strengthen democracy in the union, the EU in 2005 took a new approach to communications policy to reach out to the citizens. The strategic document "Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate" was accompanied by two other documents, and the three of them were the core of this policy. Both democracy and communications work means at EU level a higher complexity than in the nation-state arena. Objective of this study is to examine how the implementation of Plan D has turned out in a democracy renewal perspective. To achieve that answers are sought to questions concerning the goals of Plan D, how they are still present today, what happened in practice regarding the efforts that are highlighted, and how the substance of the activities can be judged from a democratic theory perspective.

Denna uppsats är en upptäcktsstyrd fallstudie av jämförande typ inom vilken tre kommuners vindkraftsplaner studeras. Syftet med arbetet är att studera kommunernas hantering och ställningstaganden kring vindkraftens visuella påverkan på landskapet samt ljudnivåerna. Arbetet har genomförts med hjälp av en fallstudie där de tre utvalda kommunernas hantering och ställningstaganden kring vindkraftens påverkan på landskapet samt ljudnivån har analyserats för att sedan jämföras med varandra. Analysen har genomförts med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. De studerade kommunerna har valts ut utifrån energiföretaget O2:s ranking av Sveriges kommuners vindkraftspotential.

Våra samhälleliga problem ser idag annorlunda ut än vad de gjorde vid förra sekelskiftet, men det räcker också att gå tillbaka femtio år i tiden, när Södra Guldheden bebyggdes. Ett stort problem som vi allt oftare blir uppmärksammade om, är att vår miljö inte längre klarar den belastning som dagens bilanvändande medför. Genom de långa avstånd våra utspridda städer ger upphov till, förvärras det globala problemet. Vi behöver därför förtäta våra städer inåt och nyttja lämplig mark för detta, det har vi mycket att vinna på även ur andra avseenden. För att undvika att vi genom förtätning bygger bort stora kvaliteter i våra befintliga kulturmiljöer, behöver vi se området utifrån en helhet.

In this two years masters thesis in Library and Information Studies, the Russian Library-Bibliographical Classification (LBC/BBK) and the Chinese Library Classification (CLC) are analyzed with regard to their historical and ideological backgrounds and their respective evolutions. The structure of these classifications is compared with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), as well as three chosen subjects (History, Politics and Religion). A qualitative comparative textual method is used.The study shows that these classification schemes, created at different times, different parts of the world, and different political systems, have different biases but give priority to the European before other foreign views. Otherwise, they often use a proximity principle. The CLC and the LBC were originally based on Marxist materialist principles but built in totally different ways.

The thesis first objective was to develop field instructions for forest planning of native forests in Andean Patagonia, and the second objective was to test the plan on an actual property in the area. The thesis was limited to studies in the province of Rio Negro. Today, there are no official forest management plans for native forests in the Argentinean province of Rio Negro; thus, there is an obvious need for an official forest management plan with clear guidelines. To be granted permission to manage, i.e. through thinning, the native forests on a property it is required to have a forest management plan that is approved by the Forestry Board in the province in question (Thill, B.

Examensarbetet syftar till att ge förslag till ett trivsamt bebyggelseområde på Lövholmen i Stockholm. Vad är det som gör vissa stadsrum mer trivsamma än andra? Vilka faktorer påverkar vårt intryck av det offentliga rummet? Jag har valt att fokusera på faktorerna form, flöde och funktion, som jag anser har stor påverkan på hur människor upplever stadsmiljön. Stadens form utgör dess gestalt, d v s struktur, skala och utseende. Med flöde avses de mänskliga rörelserna i det offentliga rummet.

We live in a time where the influence of citizens is taking a larger role in the spatial planning. The Swedish laws, such as PBL, deals with matters of citizen participation which advocates that the youth should be included in the consultation circuit, but there is no directive given.  The report's purpose is to demonstrate methods for how to get the young people's influence included in the spatial planning, with a main focus on the ages between 13 and 21. On the base of literature and two case studies, the goal is to illustrate how to integrate young people through a meeting place in Jonkoping, Sweden. The report is structured along with an analysis based on the literature, two case studies from previous projects and discussions/interviews with young people from four selected areas in Jonkoping.  The case studies from Malmo and Gothenburg show how the cooperation between different participants can be organized during the planning and how to give the users a greater involvement. Based on literature and case studies, we carried out a field analysis of the four most segregated areas of Jonkoping; Osterangen, Oxnehaga, Ekhagen and Raslatt.

Syftet med examensarbetet har varit att upprätta ett förslag över hur man kan utveckla ön Ljusterö i Stockholms skärgård samtidigt som man säkerställer och bevarar de kvaliteter som finns på ön. Examensarbetet syftar också till att utreda hur man kan integrera Ljusterö i en växande förortskommun samtidigt som man bibehåller öns specifika karaktärsdrag. Ljusterö ligger i Österåkers kommun ca 3 mil norr om Stockholm. Ön genomgår i nuläget en omfattande permanentomvandling, dvs då befintliga fritidshusområden omvandlas till permanentboenden. Detta ställer ökade krav på infrastrukturen, som exempelvis nya vägar, vatten- och avlopp och snöröjning. På ön finns flera områden som är av kulturhistoriskt värde, samt områden som är klassade som ekologiskt särskilt känsliga områden.
