This paper examines whether membership in the European Union has contributed to democratic stability and integration in an ethnic diverse society. By studying the Latvian multicultural society, before and after membership in the EU, the author is looking for evidence of enhanced ethnic stability in the country brought through European integration. The author will analyze what the consequences have been, by adopting European regional policy, for a country that yet has to create a unified national identity. By analyzing different areas of the Latvian society, the author has concluded that the EU has played a small but yet not insignificant role for the Latvian domestic integration process..

Studien undersöker Peter von Möllers agerande inom jordbruksutvecklingen i teori och praktik för åren 1831-1883, en tid som i Sverige sammankopplas med det allra mest intensiva skedet av den agrara revolutionen. Von Möllers egna skrifter utgör grunden för undersökningens jordbruksteoretiska del. Det praktiska jordbruket på von Möllers gods, i Skottorp, har studerats utifrån ett flertal kvantitativa metoder i godsarkivets material. Studien syftar till att beskriva teori och praktik samt finna de sammanlänkande kopplingarna dem emellan. Det ges också jämförande utblickar mot regional och nationell utveckling för samma tid.

Hofstede constructed a culture dimension called Power Distance, measuring the inequality of Power. Germany and Sweden have relatively similar values according to his world-renowned research. But a series of interviews of Swedish entrepreneurs in Germany shows that these perceive a large difference in inequality of power in the two countries. This essay seeks to explain the difference between these subjective-qualitative experiences and the objective-quantitative data of Hofstedes Power Distance Index. We propose that a combination of differences in communication, exercise and visibility of power and formality influence the way Power Distance is perceived.

During the work at Gateway Security AB in Motala I began examining available antenna models to get a wider perspective, this have given knowledge of their structure, and an understanding of their function. All my necessary fact is based on my observations and notes of these measurings. New antenna models, and available models were examined where measurements at different heights and different distances on the antenna were performed with the help of an oscilloscope and a measure probe, peak ? to - peak was brought on the signal. The measurements are presented in a line diagram.

Western scholars have long sought to grasp the essence of and explain Buddhism. Western representation of Buddhism has been in a manner that reflects their concerns and interests. In addition to this it is also known that Buddhism in Sweden is seen in a favorable way. This study tries to locate where this positive attitude toward Buddhism stems from and if it is represented in this manner in Swedish textbooks. Therefore three textbooks of upper secondary class of religion are to be examined, not only to see if there is a positive attitude towards it, but to see in what manner Buddhism is depicted in Swedish schools on the whole.

Furthermore results from different calculation methods (hand calculations and computer calculations) will be compared to see how they differ.The goal with this is to go through the parts of Eurocode dealing with shear force and that this will lead to a clear review of these. The aim of this master-thesis is to investigate the emergence of bureaucratic drift in connection with implementation of EU-legislation in Sweden. To narrow it down I have chosen to look at the Swedish implementation of the Working Time Directive, directive 93/104/EG. To be able to fulfil the purpose of this master-thesis I have used two research questions; [1] How did Sweden implement the Working Time Directive into Swedish law? and [2] Why did Sweden omit to correct implement the Working Time Directive? To be able to understand and explain the situation I have used the principal-agent perspective as a theoretical framework. An analysis of motives has been used as analytical method.The results from the analysis show that Sweden, in order to keep the contractual model used on the labour market, which is a part of the well known Swedish model, shirked while implementing the directive and implemented as to be able to fulfil its own agenda.

This thesis aims to present the essential background on how to perform climate changeimpact assessments, and to present the results from a climate impact assessment on waterbalance and nitrate leaching for an arable Swedish soil. The soil is a sandy soil in southwesternSweden, grown with spring cereals. This study is meant to be a benchmark example,and cannot be seen as a regional or national assessment for Sweden, rather as an approachto present and analyze the most important parts of these kinds of assessments.A dynamical simulation model (COUP, Jansson and Karlberg, 2004) was used for thisstudy. The model was parameterized and calibrated against data from an experimental site,located in Mellby in Hallands county, south western Sweden. Measurements were carriedout between 1st of April 1988 and 1st of April 1991.

Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie av maktdistansen i den turkiska banksektorn. Syftet är att beskriva hur maktdistansen ser ut i den turkiska banksektorn. Intervjuer har genomförts med sex personer i olika positioner inom en turkisk bank. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är Geert Hofstedes kulturdimensionsteori, mer specifikt den dimension som behandlar maktdistans. Tre egna begrepp har skapats med utgångspunkt i Hofstedes teori om maktdistans i arbetslivet.

The purpose of this essay is to illustrate how an organisation with several different cultural activities, such as a regional museum, works with anemphasis on participation. The essay focuses on Kulturparken Småland AB, which encourages the public to be more involved in its activities. Aqualitative approach is used, including nine interviews with employees at theorganisation. A number of theories form the basis of this study: institutionaltheory, which focuses on the context of the organisation, Bourdieu?s theoriesof different capital and Abbott?s theory regarding professionals.

Uppsatsen syftar till att visa hur normer kring kön och sexualitet upphävs och utmanas under lajv (levande rollspel). Materialet som används är fältanteckningar från en deltagande observation under ett lajv och fem intervjuer med lajvare. Resultatet visar att heteronormativiteten och den heterosexuella matrisen bryts under lajv, det vill säga det finns en queer dimension under lajv. Denna brytning är möjlig eftersom lajv blir ett liminalt tillstånd genom leken och därmed inverteras samhällets normer. Under lajv kan deltagarna spela med sin könsidentitet och sin sexuella identitet vilket tydligt visar att dessa identiteter inte är några fasta kategorier utan föränderliga och flytande.
