Detta föranleder NATO att rusta upp sina resurser och vidare fördjupa säkerhetsdilemmat i Europa. Att bibehålla och expandera ett starkt NATO i Europa även efter kalla krigets slut har visat på USA:s förmåga att navigera världspolitiken på ett proaktivt sätt utan att löpa några risker för den egna nationella säkerheten. USA:s engagemang på den Europeiska arenan ska primärt tolkas som en strategi för att balansera upp Ryssland och bara sekundärt som en idealistisk ambition att värna om regional fred och säkerhet. Since the introduction of the European citizenship in the Maastricht treaty, social rights havetaken a back seat to the economic and political elements. Nevertheless, over the past yearssocial issues have been increasingly included on the agenda following the universalrecognition of challenges resulting from further economic integration and demographicchange. The extensive research on European social policy so far tend to focus on initiativesput forward by the European Commission, and offers little to explain the multitude of lines ofreasoning on how far EU social policy should be taken or why it still remains one of the leastdeveloped policy areas. By examining plenary debates in the European Parliament concerningfamily policy, this Bachelor thesis aims to describe the complex of problems connected to afurther development of the social dimension of the European citizenship.The analysis finds that the most imminent problems impeding an expansion of the EU familypolicy lie not only in the many clashes of opinions between advocates of the various existingwelfare models, but also in the conflicts of interests and the different levels of ambitionbetween EU institutions - most notably the Commission and the European Parliament..

The thesis analyzes the making of Nordic identity after the cold war which brought an end to Nordic exclusiveness of emphasizing ?soft power?. The purpose of this thesis is to map out and investigate how the banking sector affects a customer?s willingness to change bank, and what the switching costs are for a customer when making these changes. A case study was performed through qualitative and quantitative questionnaires and interviews. The qualitative part was carried out to create hypotheses. The hypotheses was tested in a quantitative survey to be able to either accepted or rejected these them.

Syftet för denna uppsats var att utveckla metodiken för utvärdering av varningsljud i förarmiljö. I undersökningen används syntetiskt framställda ljud. En likhetsskattning av ljuden utfördes och korrelerades gentemot hur väl ljudet passade in för de olika trafiksituationerna. Trafiksituationerna består av att ett bakre fordon accelererade mot ett främre fordon och framkallade ett hot för kollision under en viss tid. Det var ett ljud som korrelerade högt, vilket var ett entonigt alarm.

Syftet med studien var att studera skillnader mellan enhetschefers och övrig personals upplevelse av sin nuvarande arbetsmiljö inom äldrevården. Totalt 692 personer ingick i undersökningen. Upplevelsen mättes i 10 dimensioner och inom varje dimension räknades t-test. Det fanns signifikanta skillnader i dimensionerna Stimulans, Tankearbete, och Praktiskt arbete (p=0,000). Tankearbete och Stimulans värderades högre av enhetschefer i motsats till övrig personal vilken värderade Praktiskt arbete högre.Behovet av vårdpersonal inom äldreomsorgen ökar, dels på grund av befolkningens ökande livslängd och dels på grund av att yngre personer inte är intresserade av att stanna inom äldrevården.

The task of the course is to design a small house at a given location and also implement adeepening study. The house in this report is located in Kiruna in the north of Sweden, where theclimate is much colder than in the rest of the country.The deepening study of this report is to evaluates how realistic passive housing north of thePolar Circle is based on those facts. Bakgrunden till denna studie grundar sig i den statliga myndigheten Forum för levande historia och dess kampanj Brott mot mänskligheten under kommunistiska regimer. Syftet har varit att ta reda på hur det utbildningsmaterial som tagits fram förhåller sig till de styrdokument som styr den svenska historieundervisningen i grundskolan och gymnasieskolan samt några utvalda läromedel i historia. Även den politiska debatt som föranlett det mediala intresset för projektet har implementerats och behandlats i undersökningen. Arbetets teoretiska del grundar sig på olika typer av historiebruk och har applicerats på den empiriska delen där materialet har analyserats. Undersökningen visar att det material som Forum för levande historia har tagit fram kan kritiseras för att vara onyanserat men att det också tillför en annan dimension av de behandlade områdena..

Our purpose with this qualitative study is to investigate how teachers experience their work situation, using Karasek and Theorell?s demand-, control- and support model. The study is based upon ten semi-structured interviews with gymnasium teachers. The interviews were transcribed and coded with three different themes; demand, control and support. We analyzed the results with Karasek and Theorell?s mentioned model.

In my study I have participated at the Fifth Dimension / Active Worlds site in Villa Gymnastiken in Ronneby, where I have worked both as an assistant to the project leader and as a researcher, but also as a participant together with the children. The children are working in a virtual world called Femtedim, created in a internet-based program named Active Worlds Education Universe. The Femtedim-world are bridging together two physical worlds in Ronneby and Copenhagen. My main focus is on an intervention that occurred in the 12th of March when the research-team in Copenhagen, which runs the project in Denmark, decided to create a new challenge for the children since some of them started to get bored. They added gravitation to the Femtedim-world, which lead to a few different reactions among the children.

In this investigation has an attempt to find out whether so called transplanting shock depends on the moving and transplanting of trees, to other conditions, or if it is due to the imbalance between the root to shoot ratio. Seventy trees of Prunus avium have been part of the investigation and these trees have been divided into four different groups depending on methods of production, untouched on the field, trees still on the field but with root pruning, trees moved and planted into Root-Control-Bag, trees moved and planted into Spring-rings. To be able to answer the question, measurements of the length of the terminal shoots and the lateral shoots and the dimension of the stem growth have been done and also has a visual judgment of the trees vitality been performed. The result shows that it is not only the move of the trees that gives them transplanting shock, but rather the loss of roots which gives an imbalance between the root and crown..

ABSTRACTTitle: Cultural dimensions? and their relevance in the interpretation of TV commercialsThe purpose of this study has been to explain the cultural dimensions masculinity versus femininityand individualism versus collectivism and see what their impacts on interpreting commercials are.We also wanted to see if there are any other important aspects to consider when looking at theinterpretation of TV-commercials. To fulfill this purpose we also used this research question:?How are the cultural dimensions relevant when it comes to interpreting TV-commercials?We used a qualitative approach when conducting this study. We found that the dimensionindividualism versus collectivism seemed the most applicable, while the respondents? answers fittedthe best to the highlighted theories.
