The purpose of the study was to discover how nurses can maintain a good quality of life for cancerpatients at the end of life. We examined seven scientific articles in accordance with Polit, Beck & Hungler (2001) criteria for scientific validity. We used Carnevali's (1996) model of demand and resources as a frame of reference. The results showed that physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs affect quality of life in different ways. Detta arbete har syftat till att undersöka möjligheterna till förbättring av material- och produktionsstyrning vid Sandvik Mining and Construction i Sandviken. Målet har varit att skapa ett underlag för förbättrad styrning av ingående material. Nulägesanalysen visade att förbättringspotential fanns inom klassificeringen av hårdmetallämnen och komponenter. Dessutom var det önskvärt att ett kanbansystem uppfördes på de förslipade hårdmetallstiften som går till den helautomatiska STAMA-cellen. Examensarbetet har gett underlag för en omstrukturering av denna klassificering men även för en framtida uppdatering av den.

In this study it was investigated if the adoption of a new routine for quality control could improve the precision of the dimension measurement obtained by harvesters. Data was collected from three different harvesters. First, a reference data set was collected before the new procedures had been incorporated, and then when the new methodology was implemented another data set was collected by the harvester operators, allowing the two data set to be compered. The results indicated that following the implementation of the new procedures, the reliability and the precision of the measurements has increased. All harvesters included in the study had improved regarding most of the controlled factors such as standard deviation, systematic difference and hit rate within ± 2 cm for length and ± 4 mm for diameter..

BAKGRUND: I vår bakgrund redogör vi för den tidigare forskning som bedrivits kring fysiskt undervisningsmaterial i ämnet. Vår teoretiska ram utgörs av Cummins modell för andraspråksinlärning samt Vygotskijs sociokulturella förhållningssätt vilka båda ligger till grund för vår resultatdiskussion.SYFTE: Syftet med vår undersökning är att med utgångspunkt i klassrummets konkreta material studera undervisningssituationer i ämnet svenska som andraspråk, samt undersöka vilka motiv lärare anger för sina val av material och val av aktiviteter.METOD: För att nå studiens syfte använde vi oss utav observationer och kvalitativa intervjuer. I vår undersökning ingår tre lärare på olika skolor som undervisar i ämnet svenska som andraspråk.RESULTAT: I vår undersökning fann vi att lärarna arbetade med ett varierat material och olika aktiviteter i sin undervisning utan att vara styrda av läroboken. Gemensamt för de tre lärarna var att de arbetade med skönlitteratur, läsförståelse och ordkunskap. Resultatet visade också att lärarnas motiv till det material de använde ofta grundade sig på en ambition av anpassning till elevernas tidigare kunskaper och vardagliga liv..

Atlas Copco Tools is a world leading company in tool manufacturing. The productionin Tierp works hard to improve their assembly to maintain its position. This thesis isa part of their improvement efforts to be a more Lean production.The main focus for this thesis was to identify the material flow in the kanban system,which used to supply the assembly groups, focusing on the material flow to assemblygroup 9 and the assembly group 3. Group 3's material flow within the kanban systemwas perceived to perform better than the group 9. The handling of kanban materialand their working methods in the two groups was identify those differences whichaffected the kanban system.As an alternative material supply a study were done in kiting.

A new type of forest tree seedling, called mini seedling, has been developed by the University of Dalarna in Garpenberg, Sweden. Compared to traditional containerized seedlings that are grown for 1 ? 2 years, mini seedlings are grown for only 10 weeks. The mini seedlings are small, easily planted, cost effective, and reduce the amount of chemicals used in the nursery. Research has shown that mini seedlings tend to have higher overall survival rates than traditional container seedlings.

An investigation of the heat impact of laser cutting on the material properties when producing tensile and impact test specimens of different steel types of varying thickness has been performed. The purpose of the thesis project was to provide recommendations regarding how much material that needs to be milled from the laser cut edge before tensile and impact tests. The study has been performed partly by investigating the test specimens by heat camera when the specimens were cut in the laser cutting line and partly by performing hardness tests, investigation by microscopy, and tolerance and roughness measurements and tensile tests of the laser cut material and material produced in the traditional multi operation machine. The results show that the heat affected zone in the thicker materials is greater than previously thought of, and that the currently used recommendation has to be adjusted. The study clearly shows that the thicker the material, the greater the heat affected zone, independently of the steel type, since the thicker material takes longer time to cut.

This study was done regarding whether sealing or ventilation is the best solution to prevent moisture on cold attics. The authors of this report addressed the problem with moisture in attics when they started their cooperation with Peab.The methods included interviews with people, database research, and calculations of a project in Akersberga north of Stockholm. The conclusion is based on interviews and other information as they are analyzed in relation to the house of reference. The focus of this report is on problems with moisture in the attics known as cold attics.The background of the problem with moisture is that today?s slabs are usually insulated to save energy and that the attics nearly gives the climate as the outdoor climate.

This report contains results of our study at CTC in Ljungby. CTC produces heating products such as boilers, heat pumps and additional products to their heating systems.The purpose of the report is to make a proposal how CTC will supply their new production line for heat pumps with materials. The proposal includes a production layout and a scheme for how to place the material in the production storage.The new production line will produce two different products and both of them have several variants. The line will also have a mixed flow, so the products can be produced in a random order. These conditions demand that the production line has great flexibility and that the material to all the variants can be stored in the production storage.With these conditions as input we made a layout proposal to the company.

Då jag varit ute på praktik har jag sett att elever allt för ofta bara sitter och räknar i läroboken. Vi matematiklärare måste bli bättre på att variera och börja laborera i vår undervisning. Både för att få med eleverna kunskapsmässigt i undervisningen och för att få dem intresserade och engagerade. Jag har därför i mitt examensarbete undersökt om lärare i år 4-6 använder sig utav konkret material i sin matematikundervisning. Mina problemformuleringar var:- Vad använder lärare i år 4-6 för konkreta material i sin matematikundervisning?- Hur gör lärare i år 4-6 för att konkretisera matematikundervisningen?- Varför väljer de som konkretiserar matematikundervisningen att konkretisera?Metoder som jag använt i min undersökning är litteraturstudier och intervjuer.

This essay examines how four archaeology scholars reason about gender. I have used a qualitative method in making this study of their dissertations.  The aim is to obtain a deeper understanding of gender identity in prehistory, gaining a broader appreciation of how this might be expressed through archaeological material. This essay takes its theoretical departure from postprocessual thinking, where gender perspectives, including feminist and queer theories are in focus. The result of this study shows that the scholars have a postprocessual, structuralistic theoretical perspective in common, and that they use stereotypical identity-descriptions.

Tidigare forskning visar på att en prisvolatilitet existerar på marknaden för återvunnet material och att den många gånger är högre än volatiliteten för dess motsvarande jungfruliga material. Prisvolatilitet på marknaden för återvunnet material verkar vara en av orsakerna till osäkerhet på marknaden vilket i sin tur hämmar investeringar i marknaden, vilket leder till att färre substituerar jungfrulig råvara mot återvunnen råvara. Volatiliteten på återvunnet material kan ses från två olika perspektiv, ett där volatilitet är en orsak av effektiva marknader som styrs av utbud och efterfrågan och ett där volatilitet är en orsak av olika marknadsmisslyckanden. Syftet med denna studie är att mäta förändringen i volatiliteten för återvunnet material, utifrån ett antagande om att volatiliteten minskar över tiden då marknaderna för återvunnet material mognar och blir mer etablerade. Standardavvikelse används som mått för att mäta volatiliteten, där volatiliteten mäts för fem olika material, vilka har olika tidsperioder beroende på material.

Choosing a new plastic material for a container includes several different steps. In this case,the Finnish company Hackman needed a new type of packaging material for theircutlery- and kitchentool series »Hackman tools«. The project was carried out in cooperationwith the design agency Ytterborn & Fuentes, which has Hackman as a client.Several different demands were put on the material in order to fulfill as many of the clientswishes as possible. The most urgent problem with the existing container was the difficultysfor the customer to clearly see the contents in the container. Because of this problemthe customer tried to open the container in the shop.

Through discourse analysis of twelve Library and Information Science theses, covering the period between 1975 and 2007, this thesis examines representations of homosexuality and homosexual identities. By using queer theory as a point of reference aspects such as essence/construct, equality/difference, notions of gender and views on the historical and contemporary situation of homosexuals are brought to the fore in the analysis. It is shown how the material unequivocally posits the contemporary situation of homosexuals favourably in comparison to a past signified by prejudices and oppression. This can be seen as an implicit essentialism in the texts, though ambivalences open up the possibility that it in some cases may be only strategically used while explicitly adhering to constructionist views. In linking concepts of a homosexual difference to prejudices, frequently involving notions of inverted gender performances or sexual ?extremes?, the discourse of progression posits normalcy and assimilation as positive values.
