In this study I have examined how narrative techniques can be used to promote the reading value and Readability in information. My focus has been on the communication-agency Mandoly?s information-brochure which function is to inform other companies about their own potential for development in collaboration with Mandoly. The purpose with this study is to examine how it is possible to increase the reading value in order to engage the target group. In my study I have used four methods: analysis of Mandoly?s old information-brochure, literature studies, a qualitative interview, and an user test.

This essay focuses on four different aspects of Readability: voice, causality, advanced words and the LIX-value of words. Each of these four facilitates or aggravates reading comprehension for students, which is further defined in the paper. The study is an analysis of textbooks in history for 8th grade from a second language perspective. In terms of voice, causality, advanced words and the LIX-value of words, the study shows that books with higher grades of causality and voice and lower grades of advanced words as well as a low degree of LIX-value are better for students to work with..

The aim of this study is to analyse how children?s literature for ages 6 ? 8 is adapted to pupils with reading difficulties. The material used for analysis in this study is six children?s books, examining some of the criteria by which a text is classified as easy-to-read. The result of the analysis shows that there is a possibility for pupils with reading difficulties to read something other than easy-to-read literature if it is carefully selected.

The principal aim of this thesis is to test if extracts, produced by the automatic summarizer "Copernic Summarizer", are possible to use as abstracts. The aim is also to give a picture of what automatic summarization is and why it is motivated. Three questions are asked: What is automatic summarization and what can it be used for? Is it possible to replace the author-written abstracts with extracts from "Copernic Summarizer"? Is automatic summarization motivated for the different areas of use that are identified in the first question? An automatic summarizer is a program that is intended to summarize text automatically and it can be used for different purposes, for example for summarizing WebPages or scientific articles. To answer the second question an experiment is carried out.

The main purpose of this study is to analyze texts written by pupils during the national test in the subject Swedish for grade 9 in order to identify and illustrate how they have met the instructions for the writing task including genre. The texts have been analyzed using Palmér & Östlund-Stjärnegårdh?s (2005) model for student text analysis. This model has been supplemented by studying word and sentence length, as well as indexes for level of Readability (LIX) and word variation (OVIX) in order to illustrate possible differences in a gender perspective. The results of this study are in line with previous research, as the girls? texts are longer and more descriptive, while the boys? texts are shorter and show a wider range of word variation.

Den du är, inte den du förväntas vara ? en kvalitativ studie av läroböcker i religionskunskap och dess behandling av kön, sexualitet och etnicitet (Who you are, not who you are expected to be - a qualitative studie of textbooks in religious studies and the treatment of gender, sexuality and ethnicithy) is a qualitative study with the primary focus to examine textbooks as a resource for the teacher. Focus is put on how gender, sexuality and ethnicity is portrayed in textbooks for religious studies in upper secondary school. The textbooks are also examined as a resource based on their usefulness. To do this a hermeneutic approach was taken and the textbooks were studied based on the knowledge they provided and their Readability.

The aim of this bachelor thesis has been to examine and develop our own understanding about how young people in Sweden (16-29 years of age), take part in cultural activities. As librarians it is important to know what kind of activities and interests this particular group has. With Pierre Bourdieu?s theoretical framework towards habitus and capital we are interested to see if there is a connection between one?s cultural use and background, if different access to capital with or within groups has an affect or not. With both statistics and interviews with people within our target, we believe this data has been sufficient enough to conduct a good and valid study.

As one way to achieve these goals the municipality started aproject called Uppsala climate protocol. During one of the project meetings anabatement map was presented. The map showed what savings in carbon dioxide andmarginal costs for different actions can be made. Statistics show that 40 % of thepopulation in Uppsala lives in a condominium.

E-commerce is becoming more common in Sweden and many Swedes buy clothing and sporting goods online. Online fashion retailers offer a visually pleasing range of products, which places greater emphasis on the aesthetic design of the online retailer. This paper examines how the perceived credibility of an online fashion retailer is influenced by the aesthetic design through a first impression. This study was conducted through ten interviews where the informants observed, assessed, and then discussed the online fashion retailers that were used in this study. Results show that recognition of an aesthetic design and a perception of usability and professionalism affects the perceived credibility in a positive way.

Idag är det mycket vanligt att man använder internet för att söka reda på och ta till sig information, detta är ofta en mycket snabb och enkel metod. För personer med språkliga problem är det dock inte alltid lika enkelt, dagens sökmotorer tar inte hänsyn till hur lättläst en text är (Google har börjat experimentera lite med detta på engelska). En metod för att hjälpa personer med sådana behov är att sortera sökträffar efter hur läsbara de är enligt olika läsbarhetsmått som beräknas automatiskt av en dator. Risken är då att en sådan omfördelning av resultaten premierar träffar som innehåller mindre information eller är irrelevanta givet sökningen. Syftet med studien är att undersöka samband mellan läsbarhet innehåll och relevans för att i förlängningen kunna utforma algoritmer som kan användas för att hitta texter med lagom läsbarhet och informationstäthet åt personer med eller utan lässvårigheter.

Within literature, politics and science, there is a claim that ?tree avenues are important?. But the question and the goal for this essay are to explore the pretext to how and why. Planting tree avenues is a 4000 year old tradition and they are a common element in the Swedish and Scanian landscape since the 18th century. They were first mainly planted by aristocratic land-owners or on their initiative, but since the 19th century also by farmers.

But how about longer pieces of content presented in the print version? What will become of reports, interviews and essays as we?ve come to know them as the printed newspaper goes digital?Interviews with representatives of five swedish newspapers shows that the extent to wich content is being published on the web is connected to the overall purpose of the web presence. The fact that many newspapers does not publish longer pieces of text on the web rather seems to be an economic issue, than a matter of good Readability.Past studies shows that longer pieces of text may well work on the web, if the reader?s interest is big enough.
