English abstract The culture of hotel and restaurant work.Dangerous for apprentices and students?The study is based on a survey targeting 50 teachers at chef schools with good geographic distribution of 9 schools. Teachers answer questions on bullying and sexual harassment in the hotel and restaurant sector, and students practice shock in the meeting with the industry. Students face a hard and tough environment where it is expected that it will suffer a great deal of harassment and degrading treatment as part of a tradition. There seems to be a general but erroneous belief that the professional climate has improved.
För systemets skull och inte för naturens bästa : En studie av hållbar turism inom boendesektorn
In this study environmental work in the Swedish hotel chain "Scandic" is investigated. Earlier studies point out sustainability and different environmental certificate programs as essential for the housing sector to contribute to sustainable tourism. The purpose and willingness to fulfill such a mission has been investigated by interviewing central actors in the hotel chain. The result shows that there is a desire to be part of environmental certificate programs mainly for the reason to be part of the system and not for the benefit of nature. Sustainable development is understood as being environmentally friendly. Different solutions to adapt and being more environmentally friendly is discussed.
Bröd och skådespel åt folket : En kvalitativ analys av realityserien Paradise Hotel och en diskussion om TV4:s och medborgarens roll i offentligheten
Problem: Underhållningsutbudet i TV ökar och televisionens möjligheter att stimulera till debatt och fungera som kunskapskälla riskerar att försvagas. Paradise Hotel, en så kallad realityserie, sändes flitigt i TV4 under våren 2005. Detta program och dess deltagare får stort offentligt utrymme medan många andra program, människor och idéer utesluts från televisionen.Syfte: Vårt syfte är att undersöka Paradise Hotels framställning av genuskategorier och kroppsideal samt att urskilja vilka kulturella mönster som genomsyrar programmet. Vårt syfte är också att diskutera vad Paradise Hotel och TV4:s allt mer underhållningsinriktade programutbud kan tänkas innebära för medborgarnas deltagande i det offentliga livet.Metod: Undersökningen baseras på en kvalitativ dokumentanalys och litteraturstudier. Vårt empiriska material består av tio avsnitt av Paradise Hotel samt material från seriens officiella hemsida.

This report will show the energy usage of Hotel Princess in Sandviken, Sweden. When the hotel changed owner an examination of the hotels heating, ventilation and sanitary systems were done. The report showed flaws in the ventilation system, and is why the new owner wanted a closer look at the energy use of the hotel. The original building was built in the 1930s and two major extensions have been built, one in the 1950s and the most recent in the 1980s. An assumption made is that the building parts were built to the restrictions during the time. Activities on the hotel include sleep over, conference, night club, massage and swimming in the hotels pool section.

Serviced apartments in Sweden: Is there a growth opportunity?
The common drivers for hotel accommodation are tourism and business travel and hotel demand seem to outstrip supply in many places. More than 50 % of visitors to Sweden stay at a traditional hotel but is there room for alternate accommodation like serviced apartments besides the traditional hotel for people visiting? These are usually referred to as extended stay or long-stay accommodation. The aim of this thesis project is to explore whether there are growth opportunities for serviced apartments in Sweden. A secondary aim of the thesis project is to identify challenges (if any) to this segment and also to identify the major operators of serviced apartments in Sweden.

Further, the aim is to put forward how Management in this sector strategically utilizes the location to manage the staff in order to help build a strong lasting brand. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect that price has on quality expectations and customer satisfaction and how price fits into a customer satisfaction model. An experiment in which participants are subject to scenarios of a high or low quality flight are used to test the hypotheses. The analysis shows that perceived quality has a bigger impact on satisfaction than price. Furthermore, price and quality do not affect customer satisfaction independently of each other. The importance of value compared to quality changes whether the actor is a high or low price actor.
Publikens Paradis : En kvantitativ enkätstudie
Den här uppsatsen grundar sig i en enkätstudie riktad mot publiken av realityprogrammet Paradise Hotel som sänts på TV3 hösten 2014. Anledningen till denna studie var att se hur publiken mottar programmet, vilket motiv dem har och vilket behov som uppfylls med sitt tittande. Och även där jämföra mellan män och kvinnor och hur ofta dem tittar. Detta för att se varför ett så omtalat program som Paradise Hotel toppat listorna över antal tittare hösten 2014.Teorierna som använts i denna studie är Uses och gratifications-teorin och den danska mediaforskaren Kim Schrøders multidimensionella teori om mottagande. Det främsta materialet samlades in med hjälp av en enkät skapad i Google Docs och som delades via Paradise Hotels officiella facebooksida.

Because of the large supply of information is today's leisure travelers very enlightened and have firsthand knowledge of what can be demanded on a hotel stay. Along with business travelers, who are not price sensitive, they place higher demands on the standards and service they require. It has become increasingly important to attract the visitors in a unique way.The purpose of this study is to reveal those aspects which hotels focus on in their business in order to keep their guests, despite the strong competition and the new demands of the changing hotel industry. The study has examined more closely if the hotels have specific concepts in their approach, if their servicescapes (the environment where the service is assembled) are designed in a unique way to attract visitors and if the hotels have special relationships with their guests.The study is qualitative and in order to answer the purpose has observations of the selected hotels and interviews with managers and receptionists been made.One of the conclusions that we reached is that the most important aspect in the hotels business is their relationship to the guests. Each respective hotel strives to have a special and unique relationship with its guests conveyed by its staff.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka på vilka sätt köns- och sexualitetsdiskurser kommer till uttryck i sociala medier i relation till framställningen av kön och sexualitet i tv, och vad det kan bero på. Syftet är även att undersöka vilken betydelse meningsreproduktionen och diskurserna på sociala medier kan ha för användarnas föreställningar om kön och sexualitet. Frågeställningarna är: ?Reproduceras köns- och heteronormer under hashtagen #paradisehotelse på Twitter? I så fall, på vilket sätt och vad kan det bero på?? och ?Skulle interaktionen med tv-programmet Paradise Hotel via Twitter kunna ha någon betydelse för Twitter-användarnas föreställningar om kön och sexualitet? I så fall, på vilket sätt??. För att uppnå syftet genomförs netnografi och kritisk diskursanalys av inläggen på hashtagen #paradisehotelse.
En förstudie till kvalitetsutveckling på GD-tryck
The print- and mailroom at Gefle Dagblad (GD-tyck) is handling an increasing amount of commercial jobsalong with the newspaper production. Investments have above all been done in the mailroom to be able tooffer commercial costumers a higher degree of finishing and there are plans to expand further in the commercialmarket. GD-tryck is of the opinion that they need to secure the quality of their production to be ableto do such expansion, which is the reason why a quality system of some kind may be appropriate. Howeverthere are no plans to certify such a quality system according to ISO 9001:2000.In this exam report the present methods of working have been analysed from a quality perspective.Suggestions on how GD-tryck should be working with quality development is presented in the fields whereshortage of quality has been discovered. The suggestions taken together do not form a quality system butcan be looked at as ideas of approach to quality fields that have to be developed if a working quality systemshall be accomplished.Many of the quality fields that have been discussed do not have anything to do with technical qualitydirectly but are in some degree requirements for a working quality system.
Hur verklig är reality-tv? : En studie kring dokusåpan Paradise Hotel utifrån deltagarnas perspektiv
Realityshower och dokusåpor tar allt större plats i våra tv-tablåer och är under ständig debatt. Programmen sänds numera på prime time och finns hela tiden tillgängliga via internet. Just nu är dokusåpan Paradise Hotel mest aktuell och har fått utstå mycket kritik. Detta på grund av de stora mängder alkohol som deltagarna dricker samt programmets inslag av sexuell karaktär. Genrens namn, reality-tv, ger sken av att det är verkligheten som speglas i programmen, men hur verkligt är egentligen det vi får se? Hur stor makt har produktionsbolaget över deltagarna och hur redigeras det filmade materialet för att locka tittarna? Det är frågor som den här uppsatsen syftar till att försöka besvara.

Hotel and restaurant industry have always been seen as an industry with low status and poorworking conditions. Low wages, temporary contracts, illegal work, and sexual harassment are the rule rather than the exception when the employee?s working conditions discusses. By using the right dogmatic approach together with a social science perspective the purpose of the study has been answered. The purpose has been to contribute to a greater understanding of how it is that the hotel and restaurant industry?s poor working conditions can be maintained, the extent to which the working conditions of the employees is ensured and why mostly young people, women and people with foreign backgrounds are employed in the industry.

Quality Assurance in Service Procurement --- Total Quality and Total Quality Management refer to popular management philosophies in organizations these days. The purchasing department has an important part in the strive for organizational quality as several studies show corporate spend is significant and increasing. In this master thesis I study the actions companies take to ensure quality in service procurement. I argue that managing quality when sourcing services is particularly tricky, because of the special characteristics that belong to services. The purpose of the study is to examine whether different actions are taken to ensure the quality of different kinds of services.
