AbstractAs a developer of database-driven applications you will be faced with difficult choices, when it comes to choosing database, server and programming language. For the result to be satisfactory it requires the different techniques to interact well with each other and also fulfill performance expectations. This is even more important when the application is deployed to the cloud and the response time plays a major role.This paper evaluates different databases and their performance. To test the databases there was an application made in the server script language PHP or Hypertext Preprocessor and it was deployed to Windows Azure cloud platform. The test applications task is to call and load databases by controlled requests which creates, reads, updates and deletes data in an relatively large extent.The results shows that locale databases or databases in the same data center as the server generates the fastest response.

This Master's thesis examines some aspects of children's books for 9-12 year olds, and the children's books market, from a gender perspective. The main objective is to make a gender analysis of attitudes among children and other agents in the book market towards children's books of different qualities. Children's reflections on gender roles in the books and the importance of gender aspects for publishers in the field, are investigated. A combination of methods are used, including literary analyses, surveys of publication lists of the BTJ group Bibliotekstjänst interviews with children and questionnaires sent to children as well as to Swedish publishers of children's books. The analysis of children's books clearly shows that images of gender roles vary in different kinds of books which supports theories of gendered literature.

This report describes the development of an application in collaboration with Designingenjörerna AB. The company has worked for a long time with a community platform and they required an application where users can create their own unique profile representations, called Avatar Creator. An Avatar Creator is computer based application, which makes it possible to create a virtual character. The problem area behind this is that, large websites require a lot of administrative work when people upload profile pictures on different community pages. They can contain abusive material or pictures of other people rather than those who created the profile.The questions in this report are, how can an Avatar Creator help user to get a unique profile of himself? What are the advantages and disadvantages of an Avatar Creator? How to create a user-friendly application?To understand how an Avatar Creator works and get ideas to create an application, exiting Avatar Creators were reviewed on the Web.Collaborative work with Designingenjörerna AB was done to pin down the requirements for the Avatar creator application.

Föräldrar till barn med intellektuella funktionsnedsättningar har genom historien haft en mer eller mindre betydande roll i sina barns liv. Unga med intellektuella funktionsnedsättningar har blivit tvångssteriliserade, omyndigförklarade och inlåsta på institutioner ofta utan att föräldern har kunnat säga något om saken. Samhället har haft stor makt och inflytande över dessa ?annorlunda? familjer. I dag ser både förälderns roll och ungdomens situation och samhällets makt annorlunda ut.

The study has got three aims. The first purpose is to implement the Newman et al.s rampage theory (2004) in a more dominant European context. In this way, the theory?s strengths and weaknesses can be exposed. The second objective is to look at the motive.

There is a common belief that the arts contain knowledge of creativity that can enrich the business world. Similarly, the arts are in need of additional support from the private sector and know-how of business practices. In short, there is a need for mutual understanding. With my background as a dancer paired with my studies at the Stockholm School of Economics I have taken the challenge of bringing the two worlds closer together. By changing a social system, like an organization, it is possible to get a better understanding of it.

Although I myself haven?t been bullied per say during my school years. I?ve sure been teased and occasionally felt left out. On the other hand ? who hasn?t? And that as well is my point.

Studiens syfte är att, ur ett vardagligt perspektiv, undersöka hur några män i Göteborg upplever att de passerar som homosexuell och man genom att fråga vilka tankar och känslor dessa män har i mötet med omgivning och samhälle, och hur dessa upplever sig påverkas av detta. Undersökningen av detta fenomen rör sig därför kring hur individen påverkas av den specifika grupptillhörigheten (homosexuella män) i majoritetssamhället, främst bestående av heterosexuella individer. Homosexuella män beskrivs ofta som en utsatt grupp i samhället, som ibland råkar ut för negativ uppmärksamhet. Den negativa uppmärksamheten kan ske genom olika typer av stigmatisering, exempelvis på grund av att inte följa heteronormen. För undersökningen används de teoretiska perspektiven stigma, sexuella script och queer som analysredskap.

Syfte Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka japanska ungdomars uppfattningar om och erfarenheter av ämnena sexualitet, sexualundervisning och sexualupplysning. I anslutning till det undersöks ungdomarnas upplevda möjlighet att få sexualupplysning i Japan, samt vilka metoder och kanaler de använder sig av för att få tag på informationen. Frågeställningar * Vad har japanska ungdomar för uppfattningar om och erfarenheter av sexualitet?* Vad har japanska ungdomar för uppfattningar om och erfarenheter av sexualundervisning i skolan?* Vad har japanska ungdomar för uppfattningar om och erfarenheter av sexualupplysning?Metod Jag har använt en kvalitativ metod och gjort tolv intervjuer med japanska ungdomar i åldrarna 21-26 år. Jag använder mig av tio av dessa intervjuer i uppsatsarbetet där ungdomarnas egna och subjektiva erfarenheter, ord, beskrivningar och uttryck är centrala.

In this study I have met three authors in a dialogue seminar on their literary work. The discussion, starting from texts by Lacan and Socrates, revolved around the dichotomy of personal and private, and how to benefit from personal material in one?s literary work. The three authors reflected on the writer Karl Ove Knausgård and the photographer Sally Mann, who both are working with their own immediate family as a motif. In Knausgård, you can find a strong and self-dissecting writer persona as a medium of creating recognition in the readers mind.

Examensarbete har utförts på Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly system. Syftet var att utveckla ettkonstruktionshjälpmedel för att underlätta valet av elmotor och växellåda vid nyutveckling avautomatiserade skruvdragarsystem. Ofta görs valet av växellåda och elmotor individuellt vilketkan resultera i ett icke optimalt system. Genom att istället göra valen tillsammans kan ett bättreresultat uppnås.Syftet med examensarbetet var att ta fram ett Matlab- script som ger en bild över hur valet avväxellåda och motor påverkar varandra. Scriptet ska föreslå lämpliga dimensioner på motor ochväxellåda med hänsyn till hela systemet och dess uppgift.

Concepts of the difference between stage play and performance text are borrowed from and inspired mainly by Eli Rozik?s Generating Theatre Meaning.

This study titled School Model of Norrberga- a New Model of School. Some opinions that six pupils in the sixth grade have of their school is an explorative study. The purpose of this study is to some extent explain the ideas behind this quite spectacular model of school and the intentions of the City Council of Norrberga as they decided that all the schools that were to be renovated or built in the town of Norrberga had to follow a specific script.   As I first visited The Moonlight School I was puzzled. How do the teachers work it out? But, above all: Do the pupils work it out? What do they think about their school? When I was to write my final essay I wanted to try to sort this school out in more scientific terms. There is a nice, warm atmosphere at the school and the pupils make good results.

Syfte: Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka vilka diskurser som råder kring dagens pornografi bland unga vuxna kvinnor, 20 till 29 år samt få en djupare förståelse för hur dessa har uppkommit.Frågeställningar * Vilka faktorer inom pornografin beskriver de unga vuxna kvinnorna som positiva respektive negativa? *Vilka tankar och uppfattningar förs fram i diskurserna kring pornografi?*Hur förhåller sig unga vuxna kvinnor till rådande diskurser kring pornografi som existerar i dagens samhälle?Metod Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod och genomfört tre fokusgruppsintervjuer med sammanlagt 16 kvinnor i åldrarna 21-29 år. I uppsatsarbetet har vi använt oss av dessa intervjuer med fokus på kvinnornas egna uppfattningar, beskrivningar och uttryck. Datamaterialet har tolkats med hjälp av teorier och tidigare forskning inom området. Teorierna vi har använt oss av är socialkonstruktivism, sexuella script, heteronormativitet och Foucaults beskrivning av sexualitetens historia.
