Studiens syfte Àr att undersöka om eleverna, genom arbetssÀttet LÀsglÀdje, har utvecklat sin lÀsförstÄelse, lÀsglÀdje och kunskap om hur man anvÀnder biblioteket. Genom intervjuer med ett antal lÀrare och en bibliotekarie, samt genom iakttagelser, har vi fÄtt svar pÄ studiens frÄgor. Resultatet visar att eleverna har utvecklats med arbetssÀttet LÀsglÀdje. Bland annat har boksamtalen lett till att de förbÀttrat sin lÀsförstÄelse, lÀsning av ett varierat utbud av skönlitteratur har ökat elevernas lÀsglÀdje och arbetet i biblioteket har utvecklat deras bibliotekskunskap. Vidare visar resultatet hur elevernas kunskaper, inom de nÀmnda omrÄdena, kommit till uttryck i följande Ärskurser..

Undersökningen visar de attityder olika aktörer, pÄ och kring komvux i BlÄmÄla, harangÄende sitt skolbibliotek. De tillfrÄgade har fÄtt ge sina Äsikter i frÄga om skolbiblioteketsegentliga funktion, personalen, lokal och bestÄnd, datorisering, anvÀndning, samarbetemed andra kommunala enheter och spekulera i andra aktörers tankegÄngar ombiblioteksverksamheten.Syftet Àr att visa pÄ problematiken kring biblioteket i vuxenutbildningen, samt ge vissaförslag och idéer angÄende utveckling av verksamheten. En kvalitativ metod har anvÀnts,i avsikit att klargöra hur aktörerna, pÄ just denna komvuxenhet, tÀnker. De intervjuade Àrbl a rektor, studierektor, bibliotekarier och elever.Resultaten tyder pÄ att man anser funktionen som referensbibliotek vara den viktigaste.Att ha en yrkesutbildad bibliotekarie, ses dock inte som en nödvÀndighet, aven om manefterlyser nÄgon som kan visa fram de möjligheter skolbiblioteket har att ge. Samtliga Àröverens om att lokalen Àr för liten och att litteraturbestÄndet borde vara betydligt större.Datorisering Àr erforderligt för verksamheten.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine the professional discourses that can be identified in the public library field. My main focus is to look at the professional views on the added value of public library. Questions posed in this study are: how does the professional language look when it comes of speaking and reasoning about the public librarys added value and function, which discourses can be identified in the professional language about the public library, what could the discourses entail for the future of public library? The empirical data consist of four interviews where the respondents have been constituted by public librarians.

Mitt syfte med uppsatsen Àr att se hur bibliotekarier som arbetar dagligen med invandrargrupper, ser pÄ sitt uppdrag med att frÀmja integration samt hur arbetet med programaktiviteter kan ligga till grund för integrering. I undersökningen intervjuas 4 bibliotekarier pÄ 3 biblioteket som arbetar mycket med integrering och invandrare som anvÀndargrupp. I resultatet framkommer det att arbetet med programaktiviteter kan frÀmja integrering eftersom det bjuder in till bÄde dialog och deltagande.  Dock anser bibliotekarierna att det Àr möjligt att göra integrering till en del utav varje arbetsmoment som sker pÄ biblioteket..

The main purpose of the culture is to serve people and represent the people's social will and freedom. Culture does not exist in a vacuum but shaped and framed by political and artistic structures that are not neutral, and this is why the artwork itself cannot be an independent business. The public function of art can be understood as a defense of the ideals of democracy. But today, when political power is often replaced by hegemony, the role of art and functions are changing. How these changes reflect to the identity, reality and truth of society? What political functions are fulfilled when art becomes ?public?? The issue of democracy is linked question of people?s power in a democratic society where power is legitimized in social space.

Neighbourhood offices were established in the municipal of Lund by a decision in the municipal council 1999. During following years four offices opened in the surrounding villages; Veberöd, Genarp, Södra Sandby and Dalby. By using a goal oriented model and making interviews I study whether the offices reaches the goals of more effective service, developed IT-support, a stronger local democracy and a better feeling for service. The offices has improved the information to the citizens and efforts have been made to strengthen the local democracy but more complex matters can not be handled at the offices today, which is a disappointment for many involved.To explain the result of the evaluation I use Vedungs ?A general theory of public efforts result?.

Informationsteknik (IT) Àr en marknad som förÀndras snabbt. Att investera i IT kan dÀrför vara kritiskt. Att ha en strategi för hur satsningar pÄ IT ska göras kan minska risken för felinvesteringar pÄ IT men strategin kan Àven ge andra fördelar. Att ha en IT-strategi innebÀr dock inte automatiskt att den ger fördelar. IT-strategin bör Àven anvÀndas.

This paper deals with the use of Internet at Swedish public libraries. The author asks whether public libraries should or should not limit access to information available on the Internet. Starting from the American discussion, concerning Internet at public libraries, the author shows the Swedish attitudes. The paper demonstrates that many Swedish public libraries have adopted rules forbidding retrieval of certain kinds of information, such as hard-core pornography and racist propaganda. The persons in charge of such actions claim that public libraries should provide high-quality educational literature and should not spread mass-produced, provocative information.

The public sector has through the years been exposed to a rather radical alteration. The aim with this alteration has been to make the public sector more effective. It?s a dynamic society that Norrbottens lÀns landsting (NLL) operates in today and it is therefore of great importance that the managers get a solid foundation to rely on, since they have a central role in the ambition for efficiency. Another reason to educating the managers is that NLL can secure the future pension losses.

The purpous of this master?s thesis is to explore how the swedish public library evolved between 1890-1911, before the state implemented the library reform in 1912. The material used to cunduct the study concists mainly of texts published during the time frame of the thesis in the form of books, booklets and articles from Folkbiblioteksbladet, a journal dedicated to the subject of the swedish public library.Drawing upon Habermas theory of the structural transformation of the public sphere and Bourdieus theories about taste as social distinction and symbolic capital, the thesis seeks to show how the public participated in the evolvement of the public library and which aspects of society that contributed to the public library?s establishment as an institution. The findings are also discussed in relation to previous research of the history of the Swedish public library.

The aim of this thesis was to examine how role players experiences libraries and if the libraries are or can be an arena for activities that involves role play. A public library exists for everyone, but could nevertheless be viewed as a female sphere where women both borrow more books and visit the libraries program activities to a larger extent, compared to men. I asked the question whether men?s reason for choosing a different venue for information and culture was related to the libraries not being able to satisfy their needs. The theory of the thesis was Dorte Skot-Hansen, Casper Rasmussen Hvenegaard and Henrik Jochumsens model that states that the libraries can have four different functions and act as a venue for meetings, knowledge, inspiration and experiences.

This master thesis is about access to literature translated into Swedish sign language for deaf at the public libraries. It is by now a well-known fact that there is produced very little literature in sign language for deaf. This is so even though the policies for the library nationally and internationally, and the public law for libraries in Sweden says there should be literature available for all groups of disadvantaged people. People who have problem reading ordinary ink books have the right to get the book adapted into a medium accessible for them. The goal of the Swedish law for disadvantaged says that in 2010 Sweden should be accessible for all irrespective of weather you are deaf or not.

The aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the library needs of distance students. This user study has a student perspective and concentrates on the main question of which way library needs might be expressed by distance students. Associated topics addressed by this study include; the problem of learning centres lacking their own library support, how distance students look upon library support as a concept and whether distance students prefer public libraries or university libraries, and why they make this choice. These questions may give the answer to how distance students deal with information literacy. Theories chosen by the study are in the fields of pedagogical and library science, the social cultural theory by Roger SÀljö and in Tom Wilson's theories on user studies and information needs.

This thesis attempts to clarify the impact of cultural differenceson customer expectations of service level. Furthermore, wewant to determine whether or not expectations of service differenough to be quantifiable between two countries, Sweden andthe US, mostly regarded as similar in business practices. The conclusion showed that higher ratings on four of Hofstede?s five cultural indexes were associated with higher customer service expectations overall, and in all four SERVQUAL dimensions. This research contributes to retail internationalization and customer expectations theory.

This two years master?s thesis in Library and Information Sciences aims to investigate and put the services of 118100 Svar PÄ Allt (SPA, an SMS mobile question and answer service) and FrÄga biblioteket (FB, a library operated e-mail reference service) into the context of the reference encounter. Questions sent to SPA and their subsequent answers are analysed, and part of these questions are forwarded to FB for comparative studies. Both of the formats are compared to the reference encounter as a whole. The framing of the question originates in the assumption that there may be a need for further negotiation of the questions submitted to the aforementioned formats.
