The purpose of this paper is to perform an in-depth analysis of how New Public Management reforms have impacted management practises in two publicly financed elderly care providers in Sweden. The paper studies one public and one private elderly care provider and analyses to what extent they have implemented New Public Management methods. The results are based on interviews with several persons within the two organisations and analysed using the seven New Public Management doctrines as described by Christopher Hood (1991; 1995). The major finding in the thesis is that the level of exposure towards New Public Management reforms differs between the two studied organisations where the private provider is exposed to the reforms to a greater extent than the public. The paper concludes that the main reasons for the low extent of exposure in the public provider could be attributed to the lack of measurable standards performance as well as the proximity to the political leadership..

The public sector has through the years been exposed to a rather radical alteration. The aim with this alteration has been to make the public sector more effective. It?s a dynamic society that Norrbottens läns landsting (NLL) operates in today and it is therefore of great importance that the managers get a solid foundation to rely on, since they have a central role in the ambition for efficiency. Another reason to educating the managers is that NLL can secure the future pension losses.

In the early 1990?s more and more companies of the Swedish public sector were exposed to competition, and this started the debate on how such actions might affect the business and even society.The first chapter examines how the public sector and especially health care, is financed and managed. We also explore what it means to be exposed to competition and find that there are many different ways of exposing the public sector to competition. The study examines dental care as an example of a market with both publicly and privately owned companies. The purpose of this paper is to explore how publicly and privately owned health care companies view their relationship with their consumers.

Syftet med vår uppsats är att beskriva hur Balanced Scorecard är uppbyggt och hur det används i primärvården och förklara eventuella skillnader i förhållande till Kaplan och Nortons modell. Resultatet visar att vissa skillnader förekommer i förhållande till ursprungsmodellen. Implementeringen är samma som ursprungsmodellen och likaså antalet perspektiv. BSC används mest inom den administrativa nivån. Vidare används BSC för rapportering av verksamheten och inte som ett styrsystem..

Vidare ämnar vi diskutera om och i sådana fall varför styrkortet blivit etablerat inom organisationen. Empirin är hämtad från intervjuer med fyra personer med olika befattning inom Primärvården i Region Skåne. Balanced Scorecard har implementerats successivt i sju år och kan nu sägas vara etablerat inom Primärvården, med undantag av vissa enheter. Etableringen har till störst del påverkats av det sätt Primärvården hanterat typiska implementeringsproblem och omvandlat dessa till framgångsfaktorer..

Many municipalities choose to adopt models that reflect the efficacy. The municipality of Vellinge has chosen to implement balanced scorecard in all their efficacies. We found it interesting when it was exposed that 70 % of all implementations of balanced scorecard fails.

Uppsatsen är genomförd som en kvalitativ fallstudie med utgångspunkt i fallföretaget EuroMaint. Vi har använt en kvalitativ metod, genom att vi bland annat intervjuat ett antal olika aktörer med god insyn i EuroMaint, för att möjliggöra en djupgående analys. Vi har konstaterat att EuroMaint har brister i sin interna kvalitet och att dessa kan förbättras genom att införa ett Balanced Scorecard. Detta gäller även tjänsteföretag som har liknande förutsättningar som EuroMaint. Vi uppmärksammar också att det främst är processen förenad med att helhjärtat införa ett Balanced Scorecard som genererar dessa förbättringsmöjligheter, inte själva styrkortet i sig.

In 1995, the World Trade Organization WTO was established. Today WTO has nearly 150 member countries, accounting for over 97 percent of the world trade. WTO has a number of agreements and one of them is the General Agreement on Trade in Services GATS. GATS control the service sector, and the public library is a small part of this sector. The purpose of this study is to examine the Swedish debate about GATSs possibility to affect the public library.

The main purpose of this essay is to investigate the legal position for employers concerning protection against what employees can express about one?s employer in social media.It may regard dissatisfaction concerning employment, tort or so-called whistleblowing. The spread through social media may be comprehensive and thus cause more damage to the employer.Employees within the public sector as well as in the private are protected by the liberty of speech, which is constitutional, even the protection of sources or the right to criticize can offer some protection. This gives the employees the possibility to widely express themselves in private social media as long as it can?t be classified as a violation, which per se is very rare.However, certain differences between the both sectors will be pointed out.There are still no constitutional rights regarding social media, but a grey area has emerged concerning the legal position.

Bakgrund: Finansiell information har länge dominerat företags redovisnings- och styrsystem. Under senare år har emellertid kritik riktats mot de finansiella nyckeltalens särställning. Som ett medel att lösa den traditionella ekonomistyrningens brister och som ett sätt att lyfta fram immateriella tillgångarnas värden har Balanced Scorecard (BSC) presenterats. Syfte: Beskriva hur företag använder Balanced Scorecard, identifiera och konkretisera svårigheter som uppstår vid denna användning samt presentera konkreta råd och anvisningar för hur ett Balanced Scorecard bör användas för styrning och utvärdering. Genomförande: Slutsatserna i detta arbete är ett resultat av empiriska undersökningar av en rad företags praktiska användande av Balanced Scorecard samt av studier av relevant litteratur.

This study focuses upon the new societal objects that are termed public privatepartnerships where the public sector forms strategic alliances with the private sectorand the civil society to manage the wicked issues of today. An exampel of suchcooperation is Vänerhamn AB where the municipalities around the lake of Vänernand the private shipping companies got togheter to handle an economic crisis of theshipping buisiness. The partnership Vänerhamn has developed from a problematicactivity to a healthy company and the aim of this thesis is to illuminate thisdevelopment through an historical institutional approach, focusing critical junctureto discover if the governance theory can be used to understand the partnershipspositive process. This will be done through research questions about the organisation of thepartnership, about the members interests with the partnership and about eventuallycoordination problems in the partnership. The questions derive from dimensions ingovernance theory, central for the activity of partnerships. Interviews with centralinformants where held and it was complemented through a document analyses inorder to search for indications of the dimensions and that is the methodologicalapproach of the study. The conclusion of this thesis is that the governance theory can be used tounderstand Vänerhamns postive development since the members interest with thepartnership to a begining was not at all conformed and that led to obviouscoordination problems.
