This thesis aims to study the impact of the transition from communism to democracy on the public libraries in Poland. The central areas of study are changes in: the organisation of the public library system, the role of the public library in society, the librarian's daily work and job situation and collection development. The thesis is based on qualitative interviews with public librarians, public library managers and researchers in Warsaw, Torun and Gdansk. The theoretical background consists of chapters outlining thoughts on democratic and communist library ideas and public libraries' responses to a changing society. The results show that the public library system has been affected by two major decentralisation reforms in Poland, leaving the libraries in the care of local governments.

Sweden's position in the UEFA rankings is a modest 23 rd place, behind nations such as Austria, Switzerland and Belarus. The economic climate in Sweden is often highlighted as a strong factor. When we started our study we agreed that this could be a major contributing factor to this relatively modest rank, but believed that there were also other factors that played a big role.

At SIA TallOil's pellets factory in Latvia wood shavings and saw dust are dried with flue gases from a gas burner. TallOil wants to replace the gas with a biofuel that is available at the pellet plant. The reason for this is the unstable gas market in Europe in combination with the fact that TallOil wants to improve its Profile as supplier of renewable bio fuels. In this project the technical and economical possibilities for a fuel conversion to ether bark powder, wood shavings or wood powder have been investigated. These fuels should be burned in one of the following applications: TPS BioSwirl, VTS Multifuel burner or Saxlunds bio fuel combustion plant Due to the fact that the fuel alternatives available are relatively common except for bark powder, the work has mainly been focused on bark powder.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka om det finns skillnader i elevers fysiska självkänsla beroende på om de läser i en kommunal innerstadsskola eller på en kommunal gymnasieskola i ett område med andra socioekonomiska förutsättningar. Ytterligare ett syfte var att ta reda på om den fysiska självkänslan skiljer sig åt mellan tjejer och killar. Metoden grundar sig på en enkät som består av två delar. Den första sidan innehåller fyra övergripande frågor som vi utformade eftersom vi ville få reda på fakta om eleven. Resterande sidor av enkäten är ifrån CY-PSPP (Children and Youth- Physical Self-Perception Profile) och är reviderad av Whitehead (1995) som ett instrument för att mäta fysisk självkänsla.

International research has shown that through the involvement of the school library and the school librarian in the daily school work with the pupils, the pupil´s learning can be increased and reading comprehensions significantly improved.One purpose of this master`s thesis is to study the school librarian as a brand, representing the school library as well as the school librarian and whether there is a correlation between different comprehensions of the professional role of the school librarian. This is done by examining whether there is a difference between a specific librarian´s own perception of their professional role, compared to the image of the school librarian among teachers and principals working in the same school district and by comparing the Profile the school librarian expresses with the image that is conveyed through communications via webpage, written and oral information given on services and competences provided by the school librarian and work carried out by her.A difference of comprehension of the school librarian´s competence and work, could be part of an explanation as to why the correlation between the involvement of school librarians in the school work and the improved learning achievements of the pupils has not resulted in the expected measures, regardless of the investments in school librarians and school libraries. The school librarians´ school identity could be difficult to establish. Whether or not the Profiles and images of the professional role are consistent with each other is a much more manageable purpose which could go a long way of explaining the circumstances of the school libraries.That is the reason why we have examined whether the comprehension the school librarians have of themselves corresponds with the idea/ conception/ image conveyed to their surroundings, and with the idea/conception/image encompassed by people in their immediate surroundings..

Denna studie har kvalitativt undersökt följande syfte: (1) att undersöka frivilligt- och spontant visualiseringsanvändande hos styrketränande män utifrån faktorerna; var/när visualiseringen sker, vad visualiseringen innehåller, varför visualisering används, hur visualiseringen används och vilken upplevd effekt visualiseringen ger. I studien deltog 10 styrketränande män som var 19-26 år gamla. Individuella Profilen för visualiseringsupplevelser i idrott (eng; Individual Profile of imagery experiences in sport (IPIES; Weibull, 2008) modifierades och användes för att besvara studiens syfte.  Det fanns både skillnader och likheter i när, vad, varför, hur och effekten av visualiseringen upplevdes och användes. Resultaten visade att det frivilliga visualiseringsanvändandet var störst innan träning, den frivilliga visualiseringen återfanns även i sammanhang under och efter men inte i lika stor grad. Den spontana visualiseringen var svår för deltagarna att medvetenhetsgöra och därför svårt att dra slutsatser ifrån.

North of the city of Stockholm lies the area called Södra Roslagen composed of several municipalities. The purpose of this essay is to discover how local informants describe the food culture of the region and analyse why some types of food are mentioned and others are excluded. Several people within the food industry of Södra Roslagen were given surveys asking them to describe the food habits of the area, from commodities and certain dishes to traditions. These answers were analysed using the theories regional food, regiocentrism, revitalisation, placeless food and the idea of viewing culture through the long and the short perspective.One informant mentioned that professionals in the food industry of the region tend to follow trends from the rest of the world and another that many producers work with ecological requirements. Södra Roslagen was also defined by some as having a taste of summer as this coastal area sees an influx of visitors during that season.

I detta arbete undersöks gymnasieelevers fysiska självuppfattning med instrumentet Children and Youth Physical Self-Perception Profile (CY-PSPP) för att reda ut om det finns samband mellan fysisk självkänsla och subdomäner till den fysiska självkänslan och betyg i kursen idrott och hälsa A. Hur förhållandena ser ut mellan dessa variabler är också centralt. Resultaten som analyseras har samlats in från tre gymnasieskolor i Mellansverige. 184 elever, 79 flickor och 106 pojkar, har fyllt i enkäten. Statistisk analys med chi-tvåtest visar samband mellan betyg i kursen idrott och hälsa A och pojkarnas varseblivning av fysisk självkänsla, fysisk kondition, fysisk styrka och idrottslig kompetens där pojkar som avslutat kursen med höga betyg har höga värden och det motsatta förhållandet gäller för elever i den lägre delen av betygskalan.

Bakgrund: Vår självskattade fysiska självkänsla är av betydelse för vår motivation att vilja vara fysiskt aktiv. Det har även visat sig i tidigare forskning att högre fysisk självkänsla påverkar elevers resultat i skolan positivt. Syftet med arbetet var att se vilka samband det fanns mellan fysisk självkänsla och elevers närvaro i idrott och hälsa. Metod: Två klasser på en skola i sydöstra Sverige deltog i undersökningen, HT -12. Studien bygger på en kvantitativ undersökning i form av en redan framtagen enkät: ?Sådan är jag! ? barn?, även kallad CY-PSPP (Children and Youth ? Physical Self Perception Profile).

The workplaces for a farrieris most of the time at the hiring horse owner`s stables, whichmakes it harder for the farrier´s to have influence over theirworking situation.

The goal of this thesis is to design an attachment between a duct and a pod. A pod is what could be compared to an outboard engine for larger vessels. The pod is placed on the outside of the ship?s hull and can rotate 360 ?. A duct is a large steel ring that can be placed around the propeller on the pod to increasethe propulsion force of the ship in lower velocities.

The aim of this paper is to examine the youth library PUNKTmedis' work methods to adapt itself to the youth. Improved communication with this user group is the starting point for the new work methods. We have chosen to view the increased cooperation between the library and the youth as an adjustment to market demands. We have noticed the possible existence of an antagonism between on the one hand the traditional role of the public library of adult education and on the other hand an adjustment to the market demands. Adult education and the adjustment to market demands is seen as contributing to the image of PUNKTmedis.

During the past twenty years, the Swedish school systems have slowly changed to becomemore and more performance-driven. Private schools have been growing in general and, likeindependent schools and schools managed by municipalities, they Profile themselves. Schoolsare becoming more performance and result-oriented, which has changed the roles of teachersin a dramatic way and is in general, still changing.By profiling students based on theirindividual performance, schools are able to help students identify themselves and their owngoals. The process of profiling is a slow one in which some teachers adapt more quickly thanothers, and one that is critical for other teachers to learn in order to keep up with the demandsof society.Schools, like ordinary businesses, are in constant competition with each other to keep up withthe newest and greatest models of teaching and to rank among the best in high achievements.Perhaps the downside of this modern school structure is that it is often difficult to have aschool where both school management and teachers see eye to eye. School management must heavily focus on the school?s results as a whole.

Background: Students, at a secondary upper school, attending a practical programme have a lower physical capacity than students from theoretical programs. Our physical self-esteem has a great significance for our motivation in being physically active and thereby also for our health. The purpose: of this study is to find out if there is a difference between perceived physical self-esteem and objectively measured physical activity between students attending a practical programme and a theoretical programme. Method: Four classes, in a medium-sized town in the southeast of Sweden, participated in the study, two classes from practical programmes and two classes from theoretical programmes. All the students were in their final year at the upper secondary school, when they were part of the study during the autumn of 2011.

Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka samband mellan global self-esteem, fysisk aktivitet och social kroppsångest. Vidare var syftet att undersöka skillnader mellan kön, ålder och fysisk aktivitet angående global self-esteem, self-perception och social kroppsångest. 171 försökspersoner deltog i studien genom att svara på en enkät, besående av instrumenten Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) (Fox & Corbin, 1989) och Social Physic Anxiety Scale (SPAS) (Hart, Leary & Rejeski, 1989). Resultatet visade negativa signifikanta samband mellan fysisk aktivitet och global self-esteem och även mellan global self-esteem och social kroppsångest. Däremot fanns inget signifikant samband mellan fysisk aktivitet och social kroppsångest.
