The female dog has a unique reproductive endocrinology, with high levels of progesterone throughout the 70-day long luteal phase. In this project, markers of glucose metabolism were studied and compared from the aspects of breed group and time in oestral cycle. The parameters studied were: glucose, insulin, progesterone, fructosamine and the newly introduced analysis of HbA1c. Hba1c was also further evaluated and discussed as a diagnostic tool in canine medicine.No differences in terms of glucose markers were found between a group of purebreed dogs of various breeds compared to a group of dogs with high risk of dioestrus diabetes, namely the Norwegian and Swedish elkhounds.No differences were found between the two sample occasions, anoestrus and dioestrus, concluding that there is no need for relating test results to the time of the oestrous cycle in middle-aged intact female dogs.There were statistically significant higher values of all glucose markers in diabetic dogs than in non-diabetic dogs. When it came to HbA1c, however, there was a larger overlap between the two groups, compared to fructosamine.

Företaget Jakt & Skyttesystem AB har ett portabelt viltmålsskyttesystem som de vill utrusta med elektronisk träffmarkering som klarar av vapen av olika kaliber. Målet för projektet är att utvärdera och utveckla metoder för träfflokalisering i tavelskytte. Vi valde att utreda sensorsystem som inte begränsas av vapen med låg anslagsenergi. Därför har vi valt att endast utreda teknikerna ljudlokalisering i luft och fasta material samt bildlokalisering. Som utgångspunkt för projektet studerades hur befintliga skyttesystem fungerar, vilken sensorteknik och vilka material som används.

Sveriges lönesättningssystem har under de senaste årtiondena gått från ?den svenska modellen? med centrala löneavtal mellan arbetsgivarföreningar och fackliga organisationer till lönesättningpå en mer lokal och individuell nivå. Detta i ett försök att med större precision än tidigare belöna god arbetsprestation och därmed öka arbetsmotivationen hos anställda. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att, genom en litteraturstudie av forskningsrapporter inom ämnet, undersöka huruvida individuella lönesättningen faktiskt motiverar arbetare. Resultaten leder till tvetydiga slutsatser.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vad stress innebär, hur det upplevs och orsakas inom Räddningstjänsten, samt hur det kan förebyggas. Enkäten gjordes utifrån ett kvantitativt perspektiv och skickades till larmoperatörer och brandmän på Räddningstjänsten. Enkäten besvarades av totalt 33 respondenter. Deltagarnas ålder togs inte i beaktning, enbart antalet år av yrkeserfarenhet. Datan analyserades I SPSS, med hjälp av ett Chi-tvåtest och ett Pearsons's r-test.

Over the past 40 years 600 000 ha of lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta ssp. latifolia (Engelm.) Critchf.) has been planted in Sweden (280 000 ha on SCA's forest land alone which represents about 15% of the company's total forest land area). In the early 70's SCA situated a number of experimental stands in order to investigate different aspects of the exotic tree, primarily growth rate. To be able to compare the two species plots with scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), this species was also planted at the same time and under the same conditions. A number of questions should always be raised when exotic species are introduced in an ecosystem. Invasiveness, the pathogen situation and purely ethical issues should be discussed.

Bildtraditioner, ämnesintegrering och elevperspektiv är viktiga ingredienser i denna C-uppsats. Undersökningen tar sin plats på en gymnasieskola som arbetar ämnesintegrerat, KF Gymnasiet, där jag själv är bild- och medielärare. Jag har valt att följa eleverna i en projektgrupp genom deras arbetsprocesser i ett ämnesintegrerat filmprojekt. Genom intervjuer och enkäter har eleverna fått berätta om sina uppfattningar om bildämnet; ett material som sedan bearbetas genom diskursanalytisk metod. Jag har arbetat med eleverna med både teckning och måleri, för att sedan ämnesintegrera bild med svenska och engelska i ett filmprojekt.

Gender equality and gender equality work is relevant for today's working life, and previously male-dominated occupations may be increasingly under pressure to become more equal. This paper aims to explore and understand how the firefighters at a station are experiencing gender and gender equality in rescue services.Using theories of how sex is done, how a power perspective and a structural approach can show men's and women's different conditions in an organization, and theories that are more specific to gender and change management the firefighters talk about gender and gender equality are analyzed. Essay results were collected through interviews with seven firefighters and then analyzed and interpreted with the help of theories.The analysis shows that there is a perception among the firefighters that men and women are biologically different and that required physical strength legitimizes the exclusion of women. Inequality is seen as something natural and by pursuing an active gender equality women are given unwarranted benefits. When physical strength becomes a legitimate reason for exclusion, the responsibility for gender inequality is put on women and that women don?t have what it takes.There is also a resistance against gender equality analyzed in the paper, and it's stated opposition seems to be directed against the management's way of recruiting women.

Duroc har för tillfället problem i verkstaden med en av de två hjulvändarna, dessa hjulvändare har som uppgift att ta emot, växla och vrida hjulpar till ett korsande spår. Hjulvändaren knuffar sedan vidare hjulparet till nästkommande station. Genom att använda sig av en hjulvändare kan ett hjulpar växlas till ett korsande spår och på så vis möjliggöra att ett hjulpar som endast behöver svarvas om kan slippa passera nästkommande stationer. Den hjulvändare som Duroc har problem med har trasiga bälgcylindrar och då det inte finns reservdelar till denne har Duroc valt att man vill omkonstruera eller hitta en ny lösning på hur hjulparen ska vändas.

This thesis deals with tactics for information seeking in electronic databases. An important aspect is knowledge of the relative value of different subject access points. The method used here is literature studies. Nineteen empirical studies are described and analysed with the purpose to compare the relative value of different subject access points. The studies examined compare the relative value of subject access points in relation to each other or in relation to different scientific disciplines.

The research objective of this thesis was to conduct a holistic evaluation of an operational information system. By holistic evaluation we mean that an equal focus was placed on both the system system perspective and its users user perspective, in the actual environment where the system and its users function contextuality. In addition, the methodological objective of the study was to test a new research approach in a real life setting. The participants of the study were twenty newspaper journalists employed at Göteborgs-Posten GP. The information system NewsLink is a manually indexed full-text database containing all articles published in GP since 1994.

Inom akutsjukvård av häst är det i vissa specifika situationer av stor vikt att snabbt och effektivt mäta blodglukos. De enda mätverktyg som idag finns på marknaden är gjorda för humanmedicinskt bruk och de kan visa stor skillnad i resultat i jämförelse med ett laboratorium (Russel et al, 2007). Dessa mätfel kan vara av stor betydelse när det rör sig om till exempel unga föl med lågt blodglukos där blodglukoshalten snabbt behöver justeras. Att ha tillgång till en blodglukosmätare som är lättanvänd och visar säkra värden när det inte finns tillgång till ett laboratorium kan underlätta sjukvården betydligt, då det är lätt att ta upprepade blodprover och få ett snabbt mätvärde för dessa. Även när det gäller forskning kan detta vara av stort värde då det underlättar med pålitliga instrument som kan användas i fält.

The aim of this report is to investigate how the work handling at the department for arriving goods at EFG in Tranås is working, as well as how it could be improved and made more effective. EFG is a corporation who process and sell office furniture. The company is working with a project concerning delivery precision, the subject is therefore particularly interesting from the perspective of delivery accuracy. The number of orders has increased notably during the fall of 2005 and the spring of 2006. This has led to new demands at the department for arriving goods and the topic is as a result of that important also from this point of view.Interviews and investigations have been conducted at location since no written material earlier has been made in the topic.
