Wireless sensor networks have the potential for becoming a huge market. Ericsson predicts 50 billion devices interconnected to the Internet by the year 2020. Before that, the devices must be made to be able to withstand years of usage without having to change power source as that would be too costly. These devices are typically small, inexpensive and severally resource constrained. Communication is mainly wireless, and the wireless transceiver on the node is typically the most power hungry component.

In a comparing survey this thesis investigatesclassification systems for dams in Sweden, Norway,Finland, Switzerland, Canada and USA. Theinvestigation is aiming at an understanding of howpotential consequences of a dam failure are takeninto account when classifying dams. Furthermore,the significance of the classification, regarding therequirements on the dam owner and surveillanceauthorities concerning dam safety is considered andreviewed. The thesis is pointing out similarities anddifferences in the line of dam safety.The survey of dam safety is firstly based upon legalrequirements in the different countries andsecondly on guidelines regarding dam safety. Damowners generally are ultimately responsible for thesafety of their dam, and often have their ownroutines regarding how this safety is to be achieved.In this thesis, however, the legal requirements aremainly focused upon.The investigation has resulted in an outlining ofeight areas, where the classification systems in thevarious countries have been compared.

Syftet med vårt arbete var att studera vilka övningar och arbetsmetoder en amerikansk skola använder för att förbättra elevers muntliga framställning. Den empiriska delen av vår undersökning genomfördes i en amerikansk skola med 20 elever i åldrarna 12-13. Observationerna genomfördes i ämnena performance, council samt speech. Studien var av kvalitativ karaktär och genomfördes med ostrukturerade observationer. Vi kände snabbt stor skillnad mellan de svenska skolor vi besökt tidigare under vår utbildning och den amerikanska skolan beträffande elevernas vilja att tala.

Encephalitozoon cuniculi är en obligat intracellulär parasit som orsakar sjukdomen encephalitozoonos hos kaniner. Infektion kan även ses hos människor och parasiten är därmed zoonotisk. E.cuniculi-infektion sker via intag eller inhalation av sporer, överföring in utero eller okulär överföring. Predilektionsställen för parasiten är centrala nervsystemet, njurar eller linsen. E.cuniculi är en vanlig parasit hos kaniner men den exakta förekomsten i Sverige är okänd. Att diagnostisera E.cuniculi-infektion hos kaniner är viktigt för korrekt prognos och behandling samt på grund av parasitens zoonotiska potential.

SAMMANDRAGDenna rapport är en del i ett examensarbete på byggingenjörsutbildningen vid Chalmers Tekniska Högskola. Som komplement till rapporten finns ritningar på idéförslag samt ett program som beskriver byggnadens nutida utformning samt kraven på en ombyggnad.I denna rapport utreder vi möjligheterna att bygga om den befintliga järnvägsstationen i Mellerud till ett modernt resecentrum, på uppdrag av Melleruds kommun. Rapporten behandlar flera olika grundläggande lösningarav utformningen. Med dessa som utgångspunkt utformas sedan de olika delarna i den bästa av de grundläggande lösningarna. Målet med rapporten är att utforma ett resecentrum som tillgodoser resenärernas behov.

Background: Schizophrenia is a serious disease with potential to implicate consequences on both the family and the sick. Nurses have a fundamental responsibility to relieve suffering, and also to offer support to both the individual and the family.Aim: To illuminate experiences of being a family member to a person with schizophrenia.Method: A systematic literature review was chosen. Nine articles were included. After having analyzed the results six categories were found.Result: The family members experienced the disease as fluctuating and stressful. Some felt ashamed for their sick family member and withdrew from the rest of the society.

Sun Microsystems chose its own Open Source path by not following competitors in their commitment toGNU/Linux. The business model of OpenSolaris belongs to the new and more commercially viable OpenSource, referred to as OSSg2. This survey was based on articles on the adoption of Open Source in organizationsand István Orci?s publication Kritiska IT-System.

The purpose of this study is to examine how immigrants are portrayed in the Swedish daily newspapers online reporting. The essay investigates in what context immigrants, as individuals, are made visible and how they and their origins are reproduced. The study focuses on the roles victim and aggressor, and is also investigating potential differences between morning and evening newspapers.Present theories are discursive discrimination, critical discourse analysis, cultural racism, stereotypes and structural discrimination. Adopted methods are qualitative and quantitative content analysis, based on the Global Media Monitoring Project-tool.The results show that immigrants are not individually stereotyped or depicted negatively, but that their immigrant origins often have a central part of the story, that they are mentioned mainly in connection with negative news and that negatively charged words occur frequently. .

This is a thesis in Personal- och Arbetslivsprogrammet at Dalarna University with thepurpose of evaluating an education initiative in Borlänge kommun. The educationCoaching Leadership is an initiative for the managers in the organization to exercisegood leadership and the education also serves as an incentive for managers. Eightbusiness managers and one from the HR staff have completed the training. Out of thetotal 9 participants in the training, six of them took part in this evaluation. Based on thethesis aim and questions we wanted to explore participants' attitudes to the education,and what skills and abilities they have acquired on the basis of educational goals andcontent.

Coaching är en samtalsmetodik med syftet att frigöra och utveckla människors potential. Cirka 50 stycken rådgivare vid Trygghetsrådet har under 2006 gått en coachingutbildning vid Stockholms universitet. I föreliggande studie intervjuades sju rådgivare om deras upplevelser av coaching som metod i mötet med klienterna. De semistrukturerade, kvalitativa intervjuerna analyserades utifrån en tematisk analysmetod som grund. Man är överlag mycket positiv till coaching som metod, såväl som rådgivare som i den feedback man får från sina klienter.

Kraftig övergödning i Östersjön leder till ökad blomning av alger som medförsyrebrist i havet. Musselodling kan ses som en åtgärd för problemet. På den svenskaöstkusten beräknas skördningen av musslor vara på ca 65 000 ton/år.Rötningsförsöket av blåmusslorna skedde i en pilotanläggning på Linnéuniversitetsom består utav en lakbädd och en UASB-reaktor (Upflow Anaerobic SludgeBlanket), där syrabildningen sker i lakbädden och metanbildningen i UASB.Musslorna gav ett metanutbyte på 0,32 m3/(kg VS) för hela rötningsperioden.Ensy AB specialiserar sig på att producera koncentrerad växtnäring från gödsel. Dehar som planer att utveckla sin verksamhet för att samköra produktion av biogas frångödsel. Gödslet som erhölls från Ensy AB rötades i ett satsvist försök i nio behållaremed 100g/behållare.

The goal of this project was to make the requirement process at the Swedish Coastguard more effective. The first step to achieve this was done by locating bottle necks in the process with value stream mapping method. The result of this study showed that the biggest restriction in the requirement process was while examining older requirement documents to understand what elements were suitable for the particular project. This was followed by a study of literature, interviews and theory of Lean Production with the ambition to investigate how the requirement process was handled on other companies and how to improve the process on the Swedish coast guard. This led to a number of potential enhancements of the process which later was evaluated.

Betesmarker är viktiga för många arter av flera olika organismgrupper. Träd bidrar till biologisk mångfald i betesmarker eftersom träden är viktiga för bl.a. insekter, mossor, lavar och svampar. Arealen betesmark minskade kraftigt i Sverige under 1900-talet och för att bryta den utvecklingen betalas sedan 1990-talet miljöersättning för skötsel av betesmarker. Det finns två nivåer på miljöersättningen för betesmarker, den lägre nivån heter allmänna värden och den högre nivån särskilda värden.

The aim of the study was to illustrate how music therapy can be used in the care of patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic illness.The method used was a literature review. Scientific articles were searched in PubMed, Cinahl, PsycINFO och Scopus databases with an outcome of ten articles, with in total 330 participants, that underwent quality and outcomes analysis.The results showed that music therapy could provide potential improvement in the patients' social functions and that it could also improve negative, some positive and general schizophrenia and psychotic symptoms in some patients. The form of music therapy used was often creative music activities with music therapist, with or without structure, or individually customized. The length of treatment varied widely. It was not possible to draw conclusions about which type of music therapy was best.
