Under vilka förutsättningar kan ett effektivt samarbete komma till stånd vid humanitära insatser? Den omfattande jordbävningen i Pakistan 2005 kallade till sig ett stort antal aktörer, däribland Röda Korset, Oxfam och CARE, alla NGOs inriktade på humanitära insatser, samt FN och den pakistanska staten. Vi framlägger i vår studie teorin att ett effektivt samarbete främst kan komma till stånd om de inblandade aktörerna delar ett gemensamt mål, gemensamma värderingar samt utbyter information och resurser.Vår metod är teorianvändande när vi applicerar Margaret E. Keck och Kathryn Sikkinks teorier angående nätverk av påtryckar NGOs på vår studie av service NGOs. Studiens resultat visar att förutsättningar för effektiva samarbeten lättare kom till stånd mellan aktörerna när ovannämnda antagande uppfylldes.

In this essay, the aim is to empirically and theoretically study the parliamentary debate of the child pornography law. The empirical part is an attempt to discover eventual underlying gender stereotypes in the debate. A text analysis is conducted with material consisting of motions from members of parliament and of protocols from the parliamentary debate. In this material we try to find latent and manifest expressions of gender stereotypes. There are several stereotypes, which effects the argumentation and prejudice of the debate, like stereotypes of the victims, the perpetrators and their characteristics.

AbstractThe European union experience sometimes difficulties in advancing its work due to the member states? different ambitions and interests. The budget is one common tool that the member states can use in order to implement different policies according to their preferences. A large share of the budget is presently tied up in the CAP, the common agricultural policy. This share could be spent in another area and by doing so the EU could take a slightly different direction.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att analysera i vilken utsträckning och på vilket sätt som de nationella genusmålen i den verksamma läroplanen Lpo94 har implementerats i två enskilda skolor i Malmö stad. I och med detta har vi genomfört intervjuer med en utvecklingssekreterare på Barn- och Ungdomsavdelningen och två biträdande rektorer i två valda skolorna.Våra teori har bestått av begreppet ?interpellation? som ett analytiskt verktyg såsom reviderat av Judith Butler (1993) tillsammans med Tom Christensen m.fl:s (2005) tre organisationsteoretiska perspektiv; ett instrumentellt, kultur- och mytperspektiv. Metoderna vi använt oss av är diskursanalys som analysmetod och kvalitativ textanalys och intervjuer (innefattande fallstudier) som arbetsmetoder.Analysen visar att de nationella genusmålen som formuleras i Lpo94 instrumentellt sett existerar i folks medvetanden på kommunal såväl som lokal nivå. Även i det fall där man inte har något medvetet genusarbete så har man tillgång till en genusmässig begreppsapparat.

Fighting against accidents with elderly involved have come to be one of the west world's greatest challenges together with the climate changes and epidemics, and in order to fight against these accidents SDF Centre, Gothenburg appointed a man to the post as a caretaker.The aim of this master thesis is to analyse whether the implementation process and the systematic work correspond with Vedungs implementation theory and also put forward arguments for and against a masculine entrance into promotion old-age care; if it strengthens or is a take-off from the classical sexual roles.The thesis main theory is Evert Vedungs theory of implementation, which is constituted of eight factors which facilitates an implementation process. In order to theorise the sexual roles I have appropriated a gender perspective, constituted of multiple researchers and authors.The conclusion I have received through the qualitative interviews carried out with actors involved in the implementation process, is that the security services implementation correspond well with Vedungs implementation theory, hence the implementation has proceeded efficiently. The classical sexual roles is on one hand strengthened through a masculine possession of the security service, and on the other hand can the masculine entrance in the old-age care entail that more men apply for promotion old-age care work..

Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att undersöka om det skett en förändring i svensk utvecklingspolitik sedan de nya riktlinjerna lanserades i propositionen PGU från 2002. Vårt mål är att urskilja vilka diskurser som är genomgående, hur dessa diskurser relationellt har påverkat varandra och hur de inbördes har förändrats över tid. Hur ser regeringen på utveckling, fattigdom och bistånd? Har det skett en förändring över tid, mellan de diskurser vi identifierar? Teorin och metoden vi använder är kritisk diskursanalys, där vi med hjälp av lingvistiska textanalytiska redskap urskiljer och analyserar diskurser. Vi kopplar också den kritiska diskursanalysen till postkolonialismen.

The purpose of this essay was to find an understanding of what factors whichaffect refugee reception in two municipalities in the southern part of Sweden, themunicipality of Vellinge and the municipality of Landskrona. Three interviewswere made with three local politicians and these interviews were then analysedusing postcolonial theory. With the help of Matthew J. Gibney we identified sevenfactors which aided us in the analysis these were: Integration history, Ethnicaffinity, Determining who is a refugee, The wealth of the municipality, Thehousing market, The labour market and The action of other municipalities.We found that these factors were all useful in creating an understanding ofrefugee reception in the two municipalities. However they affected themunicipalities differently.

On the 8th of May 2007 a local power-sharing goverment consisting of Sinn Fein and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) was formed in Northern Ireland. The aim of this dissertation is to explore why the DUP, who in the past have opposed all forms of power-sharing decided to form a goverment and take active part in a power-sharing agreement. The study is based on a consociational theoretical framework developed by Arend Lijphart and further developed in a Northern Irish context by John McGarry and Brendan O'Leary. Using this theory the study seeks to understand the broad conditions surrounding the DUP's power-sharing. After a description of consociational theory and the road leading up to the Belfast Agreement,three possible explanations for power-sharing, based onconsociational theory are discussed.

This thesis analyses the rise and fall of social movements. Social movementsfunctions in the civil society, by contentious collective action they form identities,mobilize their forces and use repertoires of contentions to make new or previouslyunaccepted claims. They function in a limited timeframe, sooner or later they getinstitutionalized, marginalised or succumb into violence. The landless movementin Brazil is one of the most profound social movements in the world; their majorgoal is a land reform. Since the leftwing president Lula da Silva won the Brazilianelection in 2002 the president has been unable to live up to the expectations fromthe landless movement about implementing a land reform.

Väpnade aktörer, terrorism och illegal handel (med människor, narkotika och vapen) är alla företeelser som, i varierande omfattning, florerar i fallerade stater. Dessa företeelser återfinns inte minst i Colombia, som trots det inte bedöms vara fallerad.Uppsatsens syfte är att påvisa behovet av kvalitativa och kontextspecifika studier, då vår förförståelse är att analyser av fallerade stater, som bygger på kvantitativ forskning, missar orsaksperspektiven. För att göra detta prövas två teorier (Rotbergs kvantitativa och Buzans/Holstis kvalitativa) på fallet Colombia.På grund av att Rotbergs teori har en lägre validitet och inte förklarar vad som ligger bakom staters interna problem, kan Colombias situation mest framgångsrikt förklaras utifrån Buzans/Holstis teori. This thesis aims to describe and characterise the foreign policy change the United States has experienced towards Europe. This thesis claims that the United States is presenting a more supportive attitude today towards the development of the European Union. This more positive attitude has developed during successive U.S. administrations and has become visible since the end of the Cold War.Washington is today less ambiguous and less ambivalent towards the integration of Europe. The United States appreciate that a common foreign- and security policy in Europe is in accordance with American interests.

Genom att utgå från Graham Allisons modell Organisational Behavior undersöker denna uppsats huruvida FN:s agerande vid grova brott mot mänskliga rättigheter, så som folkmord, förändrats på en tioårsperiod. Då FN inte är den ende aktör vid sådana kriser har vi valt att studera hur regionala organisationer (Organisationen för Afrikansk enhet/Afrikanska Unionen) samt enskilda stater ( USA) agerat i samma fall. Dessa undersöks utifrån Allisons modell Rational Actor. Genom att studera folkmordet i Rwanda och den humanitära krisen i Darfur ser vi hur omvärldens bemötande utvecklats. Trots att förutsättningar har förbättrats och erfarenheterna ökat kvarstår dock problematiken med att agera.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the current situation as regarding the political equality in Iran. The method of this reaserch is based on a single-case studie wich grounds in secondary sources. The analysis of this paper is based on fields that concern political equality which in this study will focus on the right to vote, candidacies in the parliament election 2004 and the presidential election 2005. A democracy theory by Jack Lively is used to analyze the political equality in Iran´s political system.The Iranian regim is strongly criticized by the goverments in the Western world and NGO´s for the situation of the democracy and the human rights in the country. Despite the criticism, Iran still continues in the same political direction, although the democracy has gained a stronger role in the political sphere.

The analysis of regional development and the formation of regional policy have experienced an increasing importance in Europe and in Sweden during the last decades. There is a widespread assumption that the increasing significance of regions is due to the diminishing role of the nationstate in the era of globalization. This essay suggests that there is a hegemonic discourse, heavily relying on the assumptions of New Regionalism, when addressing regional building. Sometimes described as an ideology, New Regionalism, which is derived from research of successful regions, is based on the assumption that regional competitiveness and autonomy creates economic growth. The Committee on Public Sector Responsibilities (Ansvarskommittén) suggests that Sweden requires new regional structure, due to the increasing expenditures facing the welfare state.
