The aim of this essay is to answer the question of how ? in what ways ? Jeanette Wintersons Written on the Body and Sarah Waters? Tipping the Velvet are queer texts. My method is that of a thematic analysis, focusing on words and phenomenon related to definitions of the multi facetted term ?queer?. The analysis covers themes of lesbian focus, performativity, performance, speech-acts, and heteronormative and queer relationships.

I have examined the conditions for participation in an opera masquerade. Theoretical support has been found in Michail Bachtin, Richard Schechner and Judith Butler. The main study object has been a masquerade organised by the workers of The Royal Opera of Stockholm in 1925. The masquerade is examined as a social practise with distinct aesthetic framing. The analysis shows that the opera masquerade share some characteristics with the medieval carnival culture as described by Bachtin, but differ in many ways as well.

This report describes a synchronous machine model with magnetic saturation in d-axis, neutralconnection and electrical exciter interface for the transient simulator PSCAD/EMTDC. It hasbeen designed and verified in comparison to the regular machine model in EMTDC.The performance of the model is very good when incorporating a linear as well as a saturatedmagnetising inductance. The dynamic deviation is only thousandths to ten thousandths perunit. By using a cubic interpolation of the saturation curve, the model gives a good representationof the saturation effect. The open source code implementation of the synchronousmachine model gives the possibility to easily adapt the model to specific requirements.The derived model makes it possible to simulate a synchronous machine with its excitationsystems, e.g.

This Degree Project was about finding the best loudspeaker placement in a heavyweight truck and also the best suited loudspeaker for this task. The project took place in Södertälje, Sweden, on behalf of Scania CV AB. The goal was to create a new listening environment in a truck cabinet.The results were accomplished by the performance of a few different tasks. First a benchmark was made on Scanias top competitors. Second a listening test was made to get an apprehension of what people find lacking in the sound reproduction of the sound system.

Denna uppsats har skrivits under vår utbildning på Institutionen för Konst, kommunikation och lärande vid Luleå tekniska universitet. Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att undersöka om upplevelsemodellen Total Experience Management och ett exempel på ledarskap från verkligheten kan kombineras för att skapa en teori för upplevelsebaserat ledarskap.Genom ett induktivt arbetssätt och med Grundad Teori som forskningsmetod har vi tagit fram ett exempel från verkligheten av ledarskap. Vi har genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med företaget Liveside Safety för att skapa detta exempel. Med hjälp av exemplet har vi modifierat modellen Total Experience Management och anpassat denna för Upplevelsebaserat Ledarskap.

In this Master thesis, microwave connections between circuit boards are constructed. The primary frequency band is the X-band (8-12 GHz). Denna uppsats vetenskapliga grund hämtas främst från ekofeminism med tanken om jämställdhetsarbetets samband med miljövård, samt närvarons politik med teorier kring representationens betydelse för den politik som förs. Ekofeministisk teori menar att det finns betydelsefulla samband mellan förtrycket av kvinnor, icke-vita människor, och fattiga på ena sidan och den icke-mänskliga naturen på andra sidan. Detta innebär att kvinnor på ett bättre sätt förstår det förtryck som finns mot icke-mänsklig natur än män. Teorin om närvarons politik menar att det styrande idéfokuserade politiska systemet går miste om viktiga perspektiv och kunskaper som en mer representativ politik kan ge. Närvarons politik utgår från att politiskt underrepresenterade sociala grupper kan bidra med perspektiv och kunskaper som annars förblir ohörda.

The use of silicon carbide (SiC) as a base material in power electronics has manyadvantages, including high breakdown voltage and excellent temperature endurance.However, the packaging of such electronics presents major challenges and there is aneed for packaging that can operate in higher temperature. The purpose of this thesishas been to develop a test method and verify the functionality of SiC powertransistors prototypes with a new packaging technique developed by Swerea IVF AB.It includes setting up an electrical test-bed for power and high temperature cyclingand analysis of the results. Even though test confirmed functionality after thepackaging process, (at room temperature) the performance seemed to have been reduced. This could be a result of the measurement setup and the packaging process.In higher temperature the transistors failed to operate longer than a couple ofminutes which showed the weaknesses in the design and the challenges with this typeof packaging..

The automotive market is currently undergoing a historical change where stricter emission legislations and ever increasing fuel costs have intensified the search for effective alternatives to the conventional internal combustion engine, which has resulted in a substantial trend towards electrification of powertrains. Storage of electrical energy is the fundamental component in this technology where the lithium-ion batteries are currently considered as the most appropriate solution. Lithium-ion batteries, however, as other types of batteries, can only be used efficiently and durably within a specific temperature range.This Master thesis has been carried out in collaboration with Electroengine in Sweden AB, situated in Uppsala, which has an ongoing project regarding development of a modular battery system for electric powertrains. The project is at a stage where an initial prototype has been developed which provides the foundation for this thesis. The study has addressed the battery system performance from a thermal perspective, in order to validate the ability of the system to create a thermally serviceable environment for the lithium-ion battery cells.

A variety of demands have to be considered in the design of a new opera house in Galärvarvet. All possible viewpoints are important to be aware of, as is the need for the new building to be a contrast to the already existing opera house in Stockholm. The restricted site also makes a multitude of demands on the building's design.By rationalizing the layout and structure and also by making the footprint smaller, the complex building of over 30 000 square meters can be fitted and blended into the existing physical context. Unlike the existing opera house in Stockholm, the new opera house shows the rationality and the advanced technology that lies behind the scenes and becomes the character of the entire building. Through the dynamic façade, the new opera can convey any character it so desires, just like scenes do through different settings.

Jag har studerat grunden till Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnors bildande för att undersöka ifall antagandet att föreningen instiftades som en reaktion mot den manliga konstnärsgruppen De unga och deras första utställning på Hallins konsthandel 1909 stämmer. Jag har vidare undersökt ifall det finns något samband mellan grundandet av föreningen och de kvinnliga Matisseelevernas uteslutande ur De unga. Genom en historiografisk undersökning samt Griselda Pollocks genusteori har jag med kvantitativa studier kommit fram till att Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor grundades då enskilda kvinnor inte hade rätten att ställa ut sin konst. Föreningens bildande grundar sig i de kvinnliga konstnärernas önskan om förbättrade juridiska rättigheter. Genom den statistik jag fört fram i detta arbete kan jag också konstatera att det inte finns något samband mellan föreningens bildande och de kvinnliga Matisseelevernas uteslutande ur De unga, detta då de kvinnliga Matisseelevernas deltagande i Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnors utställningar är allt för lågt för att kunna ha haft någon påverkan. .

Background: Running economy is one of the key factors to achieve top performance in endurance events. Little evidence exists for improving running economy using high-intensity interval training while running. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine how HIIT affects running economy and VO2max. Method: 14 well-trained athletes (age 35 ± 8,9 years, height 175 ± 11,7 cm and weight 69 ± 12,2 kg) were divided into two separate groups (HIIT and Control). HIIT group performed 3 HIIT exercises every week for 4 weeks and Control group continued with their separate training programs consisting of mostly traditional endurance training. Results: Running economy showed no improvement in HIIT (pre 38,62 and post 38,62 ml/kg/min, p=1.00) but Control improved (pre 45,41 and post 43,37 ml/kg/min, p=0,03). VO2max decreased in HIIT (mean 61,32 to 60,84 ml/kg/min) and in Control (mean 61,99 to 58,47 ml/kg/min)..

The First World War had a definite impact on all of Europe, not to say the entire world. The domain of art was no exception. In Zürich, neutral Switzerland, a group of young creative intellectuals who shared a hostile approach towards the structure of the bourgeois society, with its non-democratic rulers and current nationalism which lead up to the war, united under the artistic movement we today call Dadaism. After the war Dadaism sprung up in several cities throughout Europe, among those Berlin. In Berlin Dadaism became a socialist weapon of propaganda, with its norm breaking artistic manifestations, against the camouflaged conservative government of the new Weimar republic.
