Open ecosystems, such as grasslands and pastures, have naturally been shaped by disturbances like fire and grazing. These processes play a crucial role in creating habitats with high biological diversity, particularly favourable for a wide range of herbaceous plant species. In recent years, many of these disturbances have ceased, leading to encroachment, fragmentation and habitat loss. The aim of this study was to examine and compare the effects of fire, herbivory and a combination of fire and herbivory on the emergence of herbaceous plants. The study was conducted at the Ecopark at Nordens Ark.

Syftet med undersökningen är att genomföra en deskriptiv studie av två nätverk inom densvenska fredsrörelsen och deras arbete samt undersöka hur de förhåller sig till social rättvisa ochsocialt arbete. Den metod som använts är kvalitativ, och datainsamling har skett via kvalitativaintervjuer med fyra respondenter. Det framkommer i dessa intervjuer att respondenterna ärorganiserade i nätverk och en del av den Svenska fredsrörelsen. De använder sig ibland av civilolydnad i symboliskt syfte för att stimulera till dialog kring frågor som vapenexport ochavrustning. Respondenterna står i sitt arbete för jämlikhet, solidaritet och deltagande.

Regionalisation has become an increasingly important phenomenon in a globalized world. As models of regional integration, the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are two prominent examples. This thesis seeks to explore through a comparative analysis, the different mechanisms and institutions for handling breaches against fundamental values within the two regional organizations. Inter-linked with the issue of the legal-institutional framework is that of what values the mechanisms are designed to protect. The method used for the analysis is first and foremost that of public international and European law, but the thesis also attempts to give a broader picture of the issues presented.

Studien behandlar ett problem som på senare tid har uppstått i samband med den Europeiska Unionens ökade samarbete och utvidgning av den gemensamma militära kapaciteten. Problemet som man, från kritiskt håll, har framfört är att denna ökade "militarisering" urholkar EU:s gamla roll som en normativ makt. Denna problematik leder fram till uppsatsens tvådelade frågeställning, nämligen:På vilket sätt uppfattas EU:s förändrade säkerhetspolitik inom den politiska ochakademiska diskursen? Samt: Sett utifrån gällande diskurs, hur anses EU:s förändrade säkerhetspolitik påverka EU:s position som en normativ makt i internationella relationer? Studiens teoretiska ansats är begränsad till en övergripande diskussion gällande etik och internationell politik. Metoden som används kan närmast betecknas som en form av argumentations-/diskursanalys.Resultatet visar att uppfattningarna om den möjliga utvecklingen för EU:snormativa makt är beroende på vilken inställning, till EU:s framtida intentioner, aktörerna och debattörerna har.

Today's fierce competition means that companies constantly must develop their business and internal processes. Focus on processes and continuous improvement is something that characterizes Lean Production which ICA logistics are applying with their concept Leading Logistics. Standardized routines for handling damaged gods were insufficient at the ICA distribution center in Kungälv. Handling and registration of damaged gods were not performed uniformly, resulting in problems with controlling and monitoring the process.The purpose of this thesis was to analyze and make recommendations how the process of internal handling of damaged gods could be improved. Therefore a comprehensive understanding was needed of the entire material flow through the warehouse and important quality aspects such as product safety and delivery reliability.The methods used are literature reviews, interviews and observations to produce a comprehensive process mapping of the current situation at the distribution center.

The construction and use of buildings in the EU accounts for half of the EU?s extracted materials and energy consumptions, and a third of greenhouse gas emissions. In the past decade, the construction sector has responded to such concerns by focusing on post production energy efficiency. However, new findings indicate that upstream construction processes influence emissions significantly ? necessitating a shift in focus to include material choices and building processes.

The purpose of this work is to explore the artistic processes of an ensemble where a musician and one or more dancers play together, either by improvising or by interpreting music that is written for the ensemble. The main themes are about finding ways to work with written material and still keep the communication between the music and the dance alive. The author is also interested in finding ways of identifying himself in the medium of dance although he is a musician. This master of science thesis intends to examine how the established innovation theoriesinteracts with the social and cultural phenomena arising from the reduction in communicationcosts as a result of the development of the internet.The aim is to present a knowledge inventory of attitudes to and experiences of an openapproach, with emphasis on collaborative innovation, in product and service developmentdriven companies in different fields. The studied theories and the empirical results forms thebasis for an analysis of how companies can benefit from the diversified knowledge that existsoutside their borders as well as an exploration of the potential for this kind of knowledgeexchange to act as a catalyst for innovation.The theoretical part of the study is based essentially on two tracks: (1) innovation theories witha focus onopen innovation and user innovation, and (2) a broad review of how theories ofdiversified knowledgeand collective intelligence has become possible to apply in an innovationcontext. The empirical part of the study is based on material obtained from semi-structuredinterviews with respondents from six companies.The results show that companies have implemented unstructured innovation initiatives withoutany formal links to the structured product development processes, which are part of thecompanies core activities. The main conclusions include the following insights: There is a needfor structured links between the unstructured initiatives and the core activities, which makes itpossible to take promising ideas to market. The companies also have to lose some control of theunstructured initiatives; consequently it is impossible to pinpoint what the outcome will be.

Det har i Colombia sedan 1960-talet pågått en konflikt mellan regeringen och olika väpnade grupper. Konflikten har visat sig vara svårlöst.Vi har utgått från Mary Kaldors teori om nya krig för att analysera vilken roll olika faktorer har spelat i konflikten, för att sedan kunna dra slutsatser om de har försvårat en konfliktlösning.De väpnade gruppernas ökade inblandning i narkotikahandeln har lett till att de har kunnat finansiera sin fortsatta krigföring. Konsekvenserna av detta har blivit att de delvis frångått sin ideologiska målsättning, då de tjänar på att upprätthålla konflikten. Vidare har våldet mot civilbefolkningen ökat, till följd av gruppernas nya krigföring där erövring av territorium sker genom folkfördrivning och mord.Den colombianska regeringens strategier för bekämpning av de väpnade grupperna har förändrats för att svara mot det nya konfliktmönstret. Regeringens strategier har möjliggjorts till följ av den internationella bekämpningen av terrorism.

This master thesis investigates quality procedures and measuring of solid carbide end mills, with the main focus on measuring equipment. The thesis has been written in collaboration with a special production department for solid carbide end mills at Sandvik Coromant in Gimo. The department?s needs and constraints have been the foundation of the project and the main research question is: how to measure end mills in order to ensure good quality of the produced end mills. The project has contained both a theoretical study consisting of a literature review and practical studies in the workshop with the objective to identify an end mill?s main parameters and the relationship between an end mill?s geometry and the manufacturing processes.

Det humanitärrättsliga skyddet för civila i konflikter har sedan dess tillkomst främst reglerat internationella konflikter, något som inte förändrats i takt med att konfliktbilden skiftat från att ha dominerats av internationella konflikter till att istället präglas av mer svårdefinierade, interna sådana. Först 1993 togs ett avgörande steg mot en breddning av skyddet då säkerhetsrådet instiftade International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY. Tribunalen vilken inte var avsedd att fungera lagstiftande kom detta till trots att skapa prejudikat i form av domen mot Tadic´, ett prejudikat, vilket kom att få två viktiga konsekvenser. Det gav upphov till en ny definition av begreppet ?väpnad konflikt? och det ledde till att sedvanerätten tillskrevs större vikt.

The ambition of this paper is to study the construction of the categorization between ?us? and ?them? in a religious minority, represented by Jehovah?s Witnesses and a nationalist political party, represented by the Swedish Democrats. This will be done by a discursive psychology analysis of their official publications on each group?s website. By a deductive study using Henri Tajfel?s Social Identity Theory trying to disclose the psychological processes; social categorization, social identity, social comparison and psychological distinctiveness.

A case study was done of Sthlm Policy Group, a consulting agency that mainly targets NGOs and government agencies in the peace and security sector. The goal of the case study was to explore the tendency of NGOs in Sweden to hire commercial consulting companies. The main interest was to see what the key reasons are for NGOs to hire private consulting agencies, but also to explore what problems that might be associated with such relationships. Interviews were carried out with representatives of the consulting agency, with its clients as well as with other NGOs that were identified as potential clients. The interviewed NGOs and government agencies were found to approve of the use of commercial consultants.

This study concerns unaccompanied refugee children and their experiences of living in Sweden and also their thoughts about identity and security. The aim of this study was to find a deeper understanding of these children?s situation. We formulated three research questions in order to obtain this deeper understanding:? What experiences do the informants have of living in Sweden?? What are the informants? views of their identity in their new life situation?? What is security to the informants?This is a qualitative study based on six semi-structured interviews with six youths whom have come to Sweden as unaccompanied refugee children.

Ända sedan det kalla krigets slut har diskursen om den liberala demokratin varit hegemonisk. Det, menar vi, har skapat en osund situation där demokratins utformning och innehåll inte längre diskuteras. Därför har vi valt att undersöka den globala rättviserörelsens demokrativision, den enda som idag skulle kunna representera ett legitimt alternativ till den liberala demokratin. Eftersom det är en ostrukturerad grupp av diverse organisationer, rörelser och aktivister är det svårt att nå fram till en samlad vision. Vår analys bygger huvudsakligen på World Social Forums ?Charter of Principles?, en samling grundläggande principer som bildar en gemensam grund för alternativa politiska forum.
