This master thesis has been written in collaboration with Science Park Jönköping and is based on a problem related to corporate innovation. Science Park Jönköping believes that there is an untapped potential in existing industry in the form of ideas that are never commercialized. These theories are also supported in the research in which other authors have perceived that the ideas and inventions which do not belong to the core business risk ending up in drawers. If more of these ideas could be spin-offs or other forms of enterprise instead of staying in the drawers it would lead to growth, both for companies and for the society in large. The purpose of the thesis work is to, based on the case Science Park Jönköping, analyze how science Parks and incubators can support the commercialization of ideas that derive from industry, who otherwise had been left lying. The work began with a mapping of the Science Park Jönköping operations and the skills they possess, and then other initiatives that aim to commercialize more ideas from companies were examined.
Fresh Kills park and the The High line park in New York, Downsview park outside Toronto the birch landscape at Shiphol Airport have something more in common than being big new park landscapes. They all include thoughts and images about ecology. These images are neither typically nature picturesque nor typically garden stylish. In Sweden we have the biotopes of Ankarparken, the new design of Kristinebergsparken. At Chelsea Flower Show in England Swedish nature put in a garden format is winning awards. There are some new ecological influence in the air.
LEKKROKAR- ?Något att hänga upp leken på?
The research of today shows that natural environments are importantfor children's physical and mental development. It alsoshows that children often opt out of the traditional equipmentplaygrounds have to offer. By breaking the boundary betweenthe playground and park, is it possible to create a new spacethat will encourage rather than demand play? Through gatheringinformation and talking to landscape architects, designers, and children, I realized that today's Parks already have environmentsand objects that could be used for playing. But whatthey need is something that makes the environment even moreinviting for children to play.
Visitor Centers were first established at various national Parks in North America. Most Visitor Centers were built in the ten-year period following 1952. The purpose of the Visitor Centers was to welcome visitors and enhance their experience of the national Parks. Today there are Visitor Centers all around the world, connected to different places or attractions. Many of the Visitor Centers that exist today, especially those in the national Parks in North America, were built during the information society.
Beijers Park i "Parkernas Stad" : 125 års parkhistoria på Kirseberg i Malmö
To perform a historical record of Beijers Park's development to date is about securing the tracks back in time. The historical record about the park tells not only the history of the park but the city, district, local residents and art of gardening. As the historical story is documented the necessary base for establishment of any care plans in the future and the base for cultural and historical value the park is made. Beijers park can in such work be treated alone or as part of the context of Parks that were built during the same era in Malmö's history.Beijers park origin from the era of the late 1800s, when the entire green structure in Malmö changed. The park area today covers 12 hectares and is located in the district Kirseberg.
Involvera flera : brukarmedverkan i parkplanering
The Civil Engineering office in Skellefteå needs to develop the users' participation
in the planning of Parks and playgrounds. In order to get such a procedure
to work one have to find a method that can work in the daily activity. My
work aims to find such a method and to implement it in practice. Apart from
helping the Parks departement to find an functional method I will also develop
a deepened knowledge about users?participation wich can be very useful i my
future profession.
This work can be divided in three stages.
The landscape is a great asset for Göteborg as a city and places in the landscape are
much used by the public. This diploma work deals with the question of how nature
in Göteborg can become more accessible and how a place in it can be supplemented
with new landscape elements. It is a proposal for a new urban park at Björlanda
peninsula in the western part of Hisingen, Göteborg, which today belongs to
the Swedish Armed Forces and is a part of the Nature-2000 area "Nordre älvs
estuarium". The reason for choosing this place is that it is the only area around the
costal area in Göteborg that has not been built on and that it contains a very varied
landscape.
The proposal is presented as three different broschures, dated 10-20 years ahead:
A map of a possible system of urban Parks including a detail of such a park,
Västra Hisingen (the western parts of Hisingen)
The idea with a system of urban Parks is to make the landscape generally more
accessible and maybe open it for people that do not use it today.
A broschure of the central area Välkommen, with my design proposal for an
urban park at Björlanda peninsula
The design aims to utilize the landscape elements water, mountains, vegetation
and sky and to intensify the experience of them.
A flora for Välkommen that shows a selection of plants for the design proposal.
Meeting, greeting & seating : a design proposal for Magomeni garden, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
More than fifty percent of the world population today lives in cities, and the pressures of urbanisation are particularly present in developing countries. As landscape architects, it is important to gain knowledge about the effect of urbanisation and ways to prevent the negativities. Experiencing the effects in person in a developing country, as well as learning from and about other cultures, enhances the understanding for global situations.
Dar es Salaam is located in one of the most rapidly urbanising regions in the world, which puts pressure on the environment and the humans living in it. Lack of means to regulate land development has led to a situation where expansion of unplanned settlements occurs, with spatial disorder as a consequence. This has in the extension led to a decreasing amount of publicly available and qualitative green spaces, and degradation of the few ones that exist.
There are facts that strengthen the status of urban Parks, which especially becomes relevant in developing countries where many people live in sparse and exposed conditions.
Bevarande av parker, trädgårdar och landskap
Abstract In order to work with historical sites, there must be an understanding of the complexity around the preservation of Parks, gardens and landscapes and the approach to be used in the rebuilding and renewal. These issues are an important starting point of this essay. Historical environments give us as individuals an insight in who we are and from where we come, which is an important part of our need of identity as human beings. Without them, our roots in the past will be non-existent. The importance of this support base lies not only in the garden conservation, but also in the picture of developments, which we have through of as time mirrors of our living environment.
To work with environments outdoors for people, animals and plants is the main topic for the landscapearchitect.
On several occasions the work is about public places that is to be in relation with other parts of the town. It is about the activities and the life that take place.
The physical environment and the interpretation of it gives possibilities or obstructions
for people who moves around or spend time in it.Since public places, Parks and places for movement are used in daily life they strongly effect the people who use the places. The concequences of this effect can be positive or negative experiences.A positive example is a passage over a brook on the way to school while a negative one is to be afraid while passing a tunnel when it is dark outside. Other examples of concequences are stress effect from traffic noice or calming environments with twitter of birds.
The physical environment is also a part of the total interpretation of a town.
Biodiversity consists of all life on Earth and in all forms. Biodiversity is often discussed at three levels: ecosystem, species and genetic variation within species. Biodiversity also provides many of the ecosystem services performed by nature and that we depend on, including cultural services such as aesthetic values, education and recreation. In Sweden the environmental objectives are central; there are 16 environmental quality objectives, and "A rich plant and animal life" is one of them. Conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity is a prerequisite for achieving also most other environmental objectives. Another environmental quality objective that is tied to a rich biodiversity in cities and biodiversity is "Good built environment" where cities, towns and other built environment should provide a good living habitat and contribute to a good environment.
Stadens gröna pauser : rekreationsmöjligheter i Pocket parks
Abstract The aim with this study was to find out how far we have come to develop reproduction strategies in eel culturing.
pocket Parks i staden.
pocket park.
