Högskolebibliotekens synlighet i lärosätenas strategidokument: En innehållsanalys av högskolornas strategiska dokument och bibliotekens strategiska planer

The aim of this master's thesis is to describe the visibility of the university libraries in the strategic documents from the actual universities to which they belong. And also, the image of themselves they send out, are examined. By examining different kinds of descriptions we want to get a clearer picture of how and in what amount the libraries are mentioned in highest level strategies. By doing this we expect to find out the libraries' strategic role in higher education and research. The research questions are: What role and function are assigned to the university libraries in strategies created by the schools' highest administrative levels? How do the libraries present themselves in their own strategies? The approach is cross sectional and the time frame is year 2008.

The method used to meet the objective was qualitative. The qualitative study was conducted with a hermeneutic basis, where individuals were asked to describe their experience of empowerment and how they feel affected of it. This thesis has a deductive approach, where existing theories dealing empowerment formed the basis for the design of interview substrate, which is then paired with the empirical evidence, based on this the conclusions was drawn.Result & Conclusion:What separates the different kinds of empowerment and how it affect the staff depends most of all on how the management chooses to communicate and share information with their staff.Suggestions for future research:A study regarding managers that works with different kinds of empowerment, and how that affects them, could be regarded as an interesting future research.Contribution of thesis:It shows that different kinds of empowerment affect the staff in different ways, which I made clear to the readers.Keywords:empowerment, thinking skills, relations and organizational - structure and theory.

Intern marknadsföring - från hinder till möjligheter

Handledare: Szilvia Gyimothy och Bo Markulf Problem: Apoteket AB har börjat satsa på extern marknadsföring som en förberedelse inför avregleringen av monopolet. Men förutsättningen för att få en framgångsrik extern marknadsföring gentemot kunderna är att företag har en fungerande intern marknadsföring. För att vara konkurrenskraftiga på en fri marknad är intern marknadsföring en viktig faktor att ta i beaktan för att kunna leverera service såväl till sina interna som externa kunder. Syfte: Vårt syfte är att studera hur en organisation i monopolsituation genom intern marknadsföring kan skapa en konkurrenskraftig servicekultur vid en avmonopolisering. Metod: I huvudsak har det till studien använts en deduktiv forskningsmetod för att sammanlänka teori och empiri.

Gränslösa broar och besvärande barriärer! - en studie om gränsöverskridande samverkan i ett franchiseföretag

Problemformulering: Organisatoriska gränser orsakar i viss mån ett hinder för företags målfokusering; i ett franchiseföretag blir detta problem ännu mer komplext då gränserna tydliggörs i form av skilda ägarförhållanden. Vi vill i denna uppsats undersöka hur franchiseföretag hanterar de problem som uppstår på grund av dessa gränser. Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att öka kunskapen om svårigheter och möjligheter med gränsöverskridande samverkan i ett franchiseföretag. Forskningsfråga: Vilka problem kan organisatoriska gränser ge upphov till och vilka möjligheter finns det att överskrida dessa? Teori: Vi använder oss av teorier kring bland annat agent-principal-problematiken, gränsöverskridande samverkan, informella och formella styrsystem samt belöningssystem.

The aim of this thesis is to better understand branding work in government agencies. What can systematic branding work result in, in a government agency, besides a strong brand in itself? Can it contribute to the democratic mission that government agencies have?Based on background information on government agencies, their mission in terms of communication, their particular characteristics in relation to the private sector; brands and how they are developed; as well as theories in organizational communication, and research on the possibilities and risks of branding work in the public sector, a qualitative case study on the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) was carried out.The case study consists of a study of PRV?s brand platform, their website as well as an interview with the person responsible for developing the platform. The information gathered during the case study indicates that PRV?s brand work seems to have resulted in a number of positive outcomes.

Från vilja till genomförande - Förändringar i arbetet med våld i nära relationer inom en stadsdelsförvaltning

The aim of the study was to examine prerequisites for the changes that are taking place within working with Intimate Partner Violence in Västra Hisingen (a municipal district in Gothenburg, Sweden). My research questions concerned incentives for the new features, their practical consequences and prerequisites for implementation. The study has been performed by three focus group interviews with different parts of the organization represented. The work material has then been analyzed using Implementation Theory, Human Service Organization Theory and theories on breaking up. The study showed that all respondents were motivated to perform the changes, but also that there were significant differences between the groups? conceptions of what implementation demands, and of the organizational support today.

Konflikter på arbetsplatsen och deras hantering inom socialtjänsten

The purpose of this essay was to inquire how workplace conflicts are managed at a number of public social services offices in south-western Skåne. This essay's main research questions were: What organizational factors determine how conflicts arise and are managed in a work environment? To what extent are such factors prevalent at the above-mentioned social services offices? Are certain conflicts typically prevalent in the public social services? If so, what are they? How does the workplace in question manage the conflicts that arise? The inquiry was conducted among the staff of three public social services offices, applying the vignette method. According to previous research, certain system conflicts are typically prevalent in public sector organizations, which adversely affect the work conditions of social workers at the organization's professional level. Two examples each of this conflict type and of interpersonal conflict were included in the inquiry.

The material is analyzed using descriptive tools, cross tables and correlation matrices in which general characteristics as well as individual understandings of the network communication are presented and discussed.Main results: The general results indicate that the network communication serves important purposes, such as providing support and motivation for the members and changing attitudes towards equal opportunities. The analysis suggests that the network members have good communicative possibilities to serve as agents of change within their organisations. Moreover, there is an observed relation between, on the one hand, organizational context and, on the other hand, the network members? own communicational behaviour and their experienced possibility to influence their organizations.Keywords: network communication, diffusion of innovations, behaviour change, Equal Opportunities Act.

The use of coaching is fairly up to date in the business world although it?s relatively new.Despite this, there?s a lack of clarity about what coaching is and what it signifies. Our point ishowever not to define coaching. Based on the normative coaching literature, the purpose is,from a critical discourse analysis to explore the power relations that affect the coach andcoached in their relation to each other, so as to be able to criticize managerial coachingrelationship as presented in the literature. This will contribute to enabling for a more opendiscourse.The theoretical image of managerial coaching described by the literature as a democraticexercised leadership by a certain type of behavior and attitudes, will lead to improvedorganizational performance.

When we started our study we agreed that this could be a major contributing factor to this relatively modest rank, but believed that there were also other factors that played a big role.

Att lära det dolda: En fallstudie om lärande av tyst kunskap på Utrikesdepartementet

Knowledge is of great importance for organizations and it is seen as an important competitive advantage to effectively preserve knowledge within an organisation. The upcoming retirement of employees born in the 1940s poses a threat because it is believed to result in a knowledge drain. The problem of preserving knowledge within the organization lies in the fact that it is partly tacit, and therefore not possible to write down or communicate in words. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how tacit knowledge is created in the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the implications thereof. We examine the following research questions: Of what significance is the creation and reproduction of tacit knowledge for the Swedish Foreign Ministry? Which factors influence the creation and reproduction of tacit knowledge and why? A case study of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has been conducted.

Att tvivla på sin tro : En studie om sociala faktorer som påverkar en utgångsprocess ur en religiös församling

Syftet med den här studien är att genom kvalitativa intervjuer öka förståelsen för sociala faktorer som föreligger när man lämnar en religiös församling. Vårt främsta fokus har varit att se vad känslan av tillhörighet har för betydelse i en utgångsprocess. Men vi berör även andra sociala faktorer som spelar in när tvivel uppstår hos medlemmen och som sedan resulterat i att hon velat lämna församlingen. Vi har intervjuat personer som har varit medlemmar i Jehovas Vittnen och Livets Ord. I syfte att öka förståelsen för den problematik som en utgångsprocess kan innebära har vi i vår analys använt oss av Vanessa Mays (2013) teori om tillhörighet, Eric Fromms (1994) teori om flykt och Scheffs (1994) begreppspar Skam-stolthet. Med en deltagande observation och 8 halvstrukturerade intervjuer har vi närmat oss ett känsligt ämne och studerat sociala faktorer som påverkar att man vill lämna en religiös församling. Resultatet visar bland annat att tillhörighet och organisatoriska faktorer av social karaktär har stor betydelse i en utgångsprocess.

Introduktionsprocessen hos Handelsbanken : En studie om styrning och socialisering för att skapa en "handelsbankare"

Introduktion av en ny medarbetare kan ha stor betydelse för den enskilda individens framtida resultat i organisationen, vilket i sin tur påverkar även arbetsgruppens och organisationens totala resultat. Utgångspunkten för studien är arbetslivets förändrade förutsättningar, vilka har fört med sig nya former att styra medarbetare i organisationer. Detta har medfört att även introduktionen antas ha fått en mer framträdande funktion.Denna kvalitativa studie fokuserar på att fördjupa sig i hur detta har påverkat introduktionsprocessen av nyanställda medarbetare. I kandidatuppsatsen undersöks hur Handelsbanken, genom sin introduktion av nyanställda, försöker påverka dessa att anpassa sig till organisationens normer, värderingar och arbetssätt i syfte att generera effektiva representanter för organisationen. Datan i studien har samlats in via information från organisationens hemsida, tillhandahållna dokument samt intervjuer som därefter tolkats och analyserats med hjälp av teorier om socialisering och identitetsstyrning.Slutsatsen är att Handelsbanken använder flera olika metoder i syfte att socialisera de nyanställda in i organisationen samt att dessa, under introduktionen, stimuleras att utveckla en identitet som överensstämmer med organisationens behov.
