In this essay we have chosen to study the implications of information policy and information strategy for The Nordic Council/The Nordic Council of Ministers. These two intergovernmental organisations share the same information department. Uppsatsens undersökning baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer med fem verksamma gymnasielärare i italienska. Syftet med uppsatsen är att dokumentera och analysera hur lärare i italienska tolkar och didaktiserar kring kulturella begrepp i skolans styrdokument samt att jämföra hur lärarna ser på sambandet mellan språk och kultur i förhållande till styrdokumentens utgångspunkter. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna är bland annat inspirerade av Ulrika Tornbergs definitioner på kulturbegrepp inom språkundervisning. Begreppet interkulturell kompetens har en central roll i uppsatsens analys. I resultatet av intervjuerna klarläggs att styrdokumenten lämnar öppet för individuella tolkningar av kulturbegrepp vilket leder till att lärarna känner ett personligt ansvar för att förmedla kultur till sina elever.

Kultur har en central roll i utbildningen i moderna språk och de läroböcker som används i språkundervisningen bidrar avsevärt till att forma elevens bilder av målspråkskulturen. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka den syn på kultur som förmedlas i tre olika läroböcker i franska respektive spanska. En innehållsmässig analys av de sex läroböckerna genomförs, där fördelningen av Tornbergs tre kulturperspektiv studeras. Sammanfattningsvis visar undersökningens resultat att Ett fullbordat faktum är det kulturperspektiv som präglar de sex läroböckerna. Hälften av samtliga nedslag som gjorts i läroböckerna återfinns i detta perspektiv. Resterande hälften fördelas mellan En kompetens för framtiden (30 %) och Ett möte i öppet landskap (20 %)..
