The study aims to examine the communication between Older immigrants and nurses at several nursing homes.Emphasis has been placed on clarifying both parties? experience of communication regarding the Older immigrant?s idiomatic difficulties. The following questions were used in the creation of the study: How does the Older immigrant communicate with the personnel at a nursing home? How does the Older immigrant enjoy their residence at the nursing home? How do language difficulties influence the Older immigrant?s possibility to express their self?In the study eight qualitative interviews were made with four Older immigrants who lives in nursing homes and four nurses working in a nursing home. The survey shows that the overall problem in the communication is the Older immigrant?s lack of language.

The theoretical background is social construction by Berger and Luckmann. This theory was uset to analyze the transcribed interviews. This study is based on nine interviews with five professionals in social services, three volunteers from the voluntary sector and one social worker who worked in a community based support group for abused Older women. The result of this study shows that Older women were often abused, by a relative they were dependent on, in their home.

BACKGROUND: There is a high incidence of pain amongst Older people. Several studies have shown that between 50 to 80 % of Older people, who require domestic care or live in care homes, suffer from pain. Despite this many Older people are under treated. AIM: The aim of this study was to explore what care providers perceive to be obstacles and opportunities of managing pain in Older people. METHOD: A qualitative approach was used and the date was semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions.

There is no general aging process therefore should health efforts directed at elderly population based on each individual as a unique person with specific needs. When aging becomes a fact not generally decrease the lust and the desire to be active but it is perhaps more about the body's ability to keep up on what the head wants. The purpose was to study prison officer?s perceptions of Older inmates and their care needs. The study was based on a qualitative approach in which prison officers at one prison were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed based on earlier research and from a social constructionist perspective.

The aim of this study was to describe how elderly?s sexuality can be expressed and to describe factors that affect Older people's sexuality. Home help insert activity is designed to help elderly get their social needs satisfied in the form of, for example, being outdoors, walk and visit a friend or some other form of social interaction. The study's purpose is to study how Older people use and perceive bet activation in the municipal home care. To find out how this was conducted five interviews with Older people who have help from home care to insert activation was made.

These theories take up the difference on digital natives and digital immigrants and the spread of new technological ideas takes place through communication over different channels in time among causes people in a social system.The result of the study shows that many Older people are good at making use of today's media, but also that many may feel alienation of today's media society. Development has proceeded rapidly in recent years and for the Older generation it's sometimes hard to keep up.The conclusion of the study is that the Older generation may need more help to discover how today's media can facilitate everyday life and enrich it with more communication despite the fact that it takes place through a screen..

When the competition is getting stronger and companies must work harder to find new markets, new products and create new needs to reach growth, it appears strange that they overlook an obvious target segment right in front of their eyes. For some years ago, marketers of fashion brands feared that Older women would wear their clothes, because it gave bad promotion for the young economically viable target group. Today, Older women have difficulties finding clothes with right fit, style and personal taste. They would gratefully accept a brand, they felt were aimed for them. The purpose of this study is to give new ideas to companies in the fashion industry, how to reach this target group, but also be a contributing reason for Older women to see the market opening for them.

 AbstractBackground: Among elderly people with dementia pain is a common problem. In Older persons, particularly those suffering from dementia and cognitive impairment pain is often underdiagnosed and undertreated causing unnecessary pain, suffering and affect quality of life negatively. Dementia complicates the identification of pain when the natural ability to communicate decreases when a person is suffering from dementia. It is important that health professionals working with Older persons with dementia are aware of the person?s pain expression.Aim: To clarify how Older persons with dementia communicate pain expression.Method: To study this area a literature review was used.

Earlier research has shown that generational differences between younger-supervisors and Older-workers may cause tensions that lead to team ineffectiveness. There is however still a lack of research in this area. This thesis presents possible tensions that might occur between a younger supervisor and an Older worker due to their age and generational affiliation, and how these tensions affect the team dynamics. The empirical data collection was limited to the boundaries of the dental care industry where these generational/age differences between younger supervisor and Older worker are common. The thesis looks at the tensions from a qualitative perspective and data was collected in the form of in-depth interviews with selected dentists and nurses.
