Globaliseringen har försatt Stockholm i en konkurrenssituation gentemot världens städer. För att bemöta konkurrensen har Stockholms stad bland annat valt att satsa stora resurser på stadsbyggnadsprojektet Norra Djurgårdsstaden. Förhoppningen är att det ska bli en miljöstadsdel i världsklass som samtidigt ska representera Stockholms stads arbete kring ett modernt och hållbart stadsbyggande. På så sätt ska Norra Djurgårdsstaden fungera som ett skyltfönster för Stockholm som stad. Hållbart stadsbyggande innefattar tre aspekter; ekologiska, ekonomiska och sociala. Syftet med vår kandidatuppsats är att undersöka den sociala hållbarheten i Norra Djurgårdsstaden och hur arbetet med den har bedrivits i den bebyggda miljön.

The goal of the society to increase the proportion of renewable energy has led to an increased demand of bioenergy e.g. forest biomass. However, there are concerns that removal of biomass will lead to decreased base cation concentrations in the soils and acidification of streams. In order to find in which types of landscape removal of branches and tops could have such negative effects, this study aims to analyse the relations between pH-sensitivity and landscape variables in the Bothnia Bay water district. GIS and digital geographical data were used to analyse the landscape in subcatchments.

LKAB is an international high tech mineral corporation and a world leading manufacturer of refined ironore products for steal manufacturing and other mineral products destined other industries. LKAB is an international corporation with companies world wide, with it?s main location in the north of Sweden, which is where the iron ore mines and the refining works are located. LKAB?s iron refining process in Vitåfors, Malmberget, is a source of great amounts of waste-rock.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to study resource allocation among district libraries within Stockholm?s City Library (SSB) on three different occasions ? 1996, 2001 and 2005 ? and to examine whether there exist any inconsistency between the state of the allocation of resources and what might be considered reasonable. During the course of the study, it became apparent that some measurements are more relevant than others when determining whether the allocation of resources is reasonably fair. The most relevant ratio is the share of net cost per capita in relation to population and the population?s composition of children, youngsters and persons with foreign background as a result of relevant political governing documents giving priority to these three groups.

Projekt ?Förbifart Stockholm? startade år 2009 och är en av tidernas största projekt i Sverige. Examensarbetet tar upp den geotekniska, hydrologiska och geologiska aspekten kring projektet ?Förbifart Stockholm?. Mer exakt så studerades sättningar på grund av grundvattensänkningar, men också så kallade pågående sättningar.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att analysera Aftonbladets och Expressens rapportering av Haiti under en specifik historisk tidpunkt och undersöka om och i så fall på vilka sätt postkoloniala diskurser om Väst och De Andra präglar denna rapportering. Det empiriska materialet består av 99 artiklar som alla berör jordbävningskatastrofen i Haiti och som publicerats i Expressen och Aftonbladet under tidsperioden 13 januari 2010 till och med 22 januari 2010.Uppsatsens analyser visar att det universalistiska likhetsideal som merparten av artiklarna appellerar till är samma likhetsideal som samtidigt konstruerar Haiti som annorlunda och haitierna som De Andra. Det blir tydligt hur motsägelsefulla resonemang får mening genom eurocentriska dikotomier mellan västerländsk överordning och haitisk underordning. Föreställningar om ett rationellt, civiliserat, pålitligt och godhjärtat Väst tillåts att frodas i relation till ett Haiti iscensatt som passivt, farligt, korrumperat, opålitligt och laglöst. Bistånd, hjälparbete och militära interventioner framställs därför inte bara som en direkt aktion för att hjälpa de drabbade av jordbävningen utan också som ett medel för att hjälpa Haiti in i civilisationen med universalistiska värden och en utopisk självbild som ledstjärna..

Studien beskriver prevalensen av Otodectes cynotis (öronskabb) i två geografiskt skilda regioner i Sverige. I studien ingår 107 tamkatter som inkom för kastration till någon av klinikerna Djurakuten i Stockholm eller Alingsås djurklinik utanför Göteborg under perioden 01-05-2012 till 18-09-2012. Katterna otoskoperades och en provtagning med öronsvabb för mikroskopering genomfördes. I studien ingick även en frågeenkät till djurägarna för att utvärdera olika faktorer som kan ha betydelse för förekomsten av öronskabb. Sammantaget observerades en prevalens av öronskabb på ca 10%.

The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and question the use of mindfulness in the workplace. Mindfulness in the workplace can be understood as an organization recipe and is now a so called trend. We believe that there may be an issue of how mindfulness at work is advertised when it is described in such a way that it could be the solution to many organizational problems, such as reducing stress, increasing efficiency, creativity and productivity. To get a better understanding of what mindfulness is and what it can bring to a stressful work, we conducted semi-structured interviews with four mindfulness instructors. We analyzed the interviews from a theoretical analytical framework consisting of both a constructivist perspective and a power perspective.

Stockholm, det som innefattar de främmande förorterna, där inga anhöriga eventuellt kunnat bo, utan mer med staden ?som sådan?.Om man då mitt i livet avlider ? skulle lösningen vara att skickas till födelseorten för en jordfästning?    I mitt fall finns ingen familj kvar där, föräldrarna är döda och syskonen är spridda över landet.

This paper has bearing on the subject of foreign policy analysis and decision-making,but is nonetheless important to peace and conflict studies due to its emphasis onnuclear weapons and deterrence.I have constructed a theoretical framework for the analysis of foreign policydecision-making that I set out to test on a crucial case. The framework iscrosscutting, and takes into consideration four levels of analysis: the system-,regional-, state-, and individual level. It is centred on a key decision maker, andapplies a cognitive approach for determining his or hers belief system through whichthe inputs from the other levels are filtered in order for the decision maker toconstruct a perception of reality, from which the decision is then formulated within.The framework is applied to North Korean and its leader Kim Jong Il. It sets outto explain his behaviour in the matter of their claimed nuclear weapons program, andhis decision to conduct a nuclear weapons-test, getting inside his head trying to figureout why he chose to do it and for what reasons.The conclusion indicates that the basic structure of the framework and its generalapplicability is sound, but that it needs further testing in order to make it perfectly solid..

The government regulations for energy use in buildings will be tightened in the future. At the same time the interest in environmental classifications and certifications of buildings is increasing. This has meant a new situation for solar energy. The designs of solar heating systems are often based on experience and/or rules of thumb, rather than calculations and simulations. This thesis examines whether simulation tools, in this case Polysun, are useful in this work.

De senaste åren har befolkningen i Stockholms län ökat med ungefär 35 000 personer årligen (Statistiska centralbyrån, 2013). En snabb befolkningsökning ställer krav på dagens samhälle och av den anledningen krävs förutom fler bostäder en utökad kollektivtrafik. Av denna anledning föreslog Socialdemokraterna skapandet av en helt ny tunnelbanelinje, den Lila linjen. Syftet med detta arbete är att bidra med fakta och undersöka stadsutvecklingspotentialen för tre utvalda områden (Hagsätra, Älvsjö och Årstafältet) längs den föreslagna tunnelbanelinjen och vilka av dessa som lämpar sig bäst för exploatering utifrån uppställda kriterier. Vi vill även med detta arbete belysa hur viktig spårinfrastrukturen har varit och är för bostadsbyggandet i Sverige.
