For several years Uppsala University together with several companies has been involved in a WISENET project aimed at improving railway transport security. By placing a sensor system near the wheels of each wagon, the temperature of the bearings can be measured and transmitted to a collector placed centrally on the wagon. This in turn transmits the collected data to RFID receivers placed intermittently along the railway.As the signals are transmitted wirelessly, problems may occur as the antennas get dirty or coated with ice and snow. To determine the effects of these coatings, several tests were performed examining the reflection coefficient S11, the impedance Z11 and the efficiency eta of an antenna, and how they varied when various coatings were placed over the antenna. Examined coatings were ice, snow and water to determine the effects of weather, and various metal-based coatings: powdered iron both pure and partially oxidized, and iron ore granules.

The thesis was done in collaboration with EAB situated in Smålandsstenar. In the initial discussion faze on doing a thesis with them there was a need to analyze and ensure the strength of an existing product, cantilever racks. This included performing FEM calculations on a model and comparing the results with physical tests.EAB has two models of cantilever racks, a light duty and a heavy duty. Within the heavy duty model series there are five product variants that differ in both size and load capacity. We will be working with the product variant with a load capacity of 1000 kg/arm which is the variant that is in the middle of the series.When we started work on the thesis we did a literature study and couldn?t find any well defined methodology that integrates both product development and computer aided design analysis.

Vi har gjort en kvalitativ studie av modellen MultifunC. Att vi valde just MultifunC att undersöka, beror på att det är en ny modell som skapats utifrån psykologen Tore Andreassens samanställning över befintlig forskning inom institutionsvård av unga, och hans bok ?Institutionsbehandling av ungdomar: vad säger forskningen?? har varit central i vår studie.MultifunC består av olika metoder för att arbeta med högriskungdomar. Vi har undersökt hur förhållandet mellan institutionens makt och de ungas autonomi ser ut under ungdomarnas vistelse inom MultifunC. Vi har utgått från olika socialkonstruktivistiska tänkare såsom Faucoult och Bourdieu i vår analys.Vi har sett att modellen arbetar för att ungdomen själv ska vara så delaktig som möjligt i sin behandling.

Background: The population of the world is getting older and in the year of 2020, 1.2 billion people will be 60 years or older. A common health complaint affecting the quality of life in elderly persons are sleep difficulties. Physical activity is claimed to improve sleep quality and the maintenance of a normal circadian rhythm. Several studies have shown positive effects of physical activity on sleep quality, still the evidence of physical activity as sleep-promoter is insufficient. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate associations between physical activities and sleep quality in persons ?60 years of age.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka (i) planerarnas val av markberedningsmetod (främst avseende harvning och högläggning) i relation till terrängens svårighetsgrad, samt inverkan av (ii) markbehandlingsmetod och (iii) markberedningens utförande på markberedningsresultatet och plantornas etablering. Tre material användes; ett övergripande inventeringsmaterial med godkända, optimala och underkända planteringspunkter samt antal markberedningsrader per 100m, ett detaljerat inventeringsmaterial med beskrivning av markberedningspunkter och resultat från en kontrollinventering av svårighetsgradsbedömning samt ett material från Sveaskogs register avseende återväxtkontrollerade objekt med antal etablerade huvudstammar efter 1-3år vid olika markberedningsmetod, svårighetsgrad och bonitet.Endast för 51 % av objekten överensstämde planerarens och kontrollinventerarens bedömning (gjord efter avverkning och markberedning) av svårighetsgrad. För 23 % av objekten var planerarnas bedömning en svårighetsgrad lägre/lättare än kontrollinventerarens klassning. Harvade objekt hade 14 % signifikant fler godkända planteringspunkter per ha och bättre måluppfyllelse (95 resp. 86 % av önskat antal) än de som höglagts (avser normal och svår mark; harvning hade inte utförts på lätt mark).

Background                      There are different types of treatments for breast cancer, and these may be of surgical and non-surgical art. These treatments produce different side effects that can cause both physical and mental harm to the woman. The breast cancer can change the women's body image and relationships to their families. The women manage their lives in different ways depending on which culture they belong to. Aim                                    The aim of the study was to elucidate women?s experience of her body and the altered body in relation to breast cancer treatment.Method                              The method used was a literature review based on scientifically articles to overview the field of breast cancer.

The activity of interest groups in the political process of the European Union has given rise to a broad debate concerning the effect on European democracy these groups have. As relatively powerful political actors, the question of these groups? views on the EU and how the union should be is an important one. The status of these groups owns democratic representation also affects the democratic status of the EU. Being based on a number of theories, this study adopts an ideology analysis for the purpose of testing these theories on two cases ? the Swedish environmental organizations World Wide Fund for Nature and The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

This paper presents the results of a study of dyscalculia. It is a retrospective archival study implemented with a deductive approach. On the basis of established research and theory 18 analytical categories were formulated, before a deductive thematic analysis of empirical material, consisting of journal data of 17 students investigated for dyscalculia, 14 girls (82.4%) and 3 boys (17.6%).The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the concepts formulated in research on dyscalculia and actual mathematical difficulties as those found in practice of students at school.All pupils had early and long-term difficulties with mathematics, while not showing any difficulties in other subjects. Most have had an unsatisfactory learning environment. All had normal intelligence but difficulty with certain cognitive, self-regulatory and linguistic features.

The genus Borrelia is a widespread, pathogenic pest and the causative of among others borreliosis or Lyme disease. The vector for the bacteria is the hard tick, Ixodes ricinus and the infection is transferred through a bite. Untreated, Borrelia may cause arthritis, heart damage or neuroborreliosis. Infection is made possible through different strategies for avoiding the body?s complement system.

In the care for the critically ill patient the next of kin is of great importance. Their support, love and care for the patient, increases the wellbeing and makes a connection to the patient?s normal lifeworld. For the next of kin to be able to be that support the next of kin needs to be helped to maintain the basic need of for example their sleep, food, hygiene and psychosocial support. The critical care nurse must see to the patient?s whole lifeworld which includes their next of kin.The aim of the study was to identify the resources available for the next of kin in intensive care units in Sweden.

Borrare/sprängare blir man genom att välja inriktning Anläggning på gymnasieskolans treåriga byggprogram eller genom godkända utbildningsgivare inom olika företag. Utbildningarna finns spridda över hela Sverige. Organisationer/föreningar som Sveriges Bergmaterialindustri (SBMI), Bergsprängningsentreprenörernas förening (BEF) och Rådet för sprängteknisk utbildning fyller en viktig funktion för att stärka och följa säkerhet, kvalité, kostnad och därmed ge stöd att följa de lagar och förordningar som gäller för borrnings- och sprängningsarbeten. Framtidsutsikterna för yrkena är goda, eftersom Sverige har god tillgång på bergmaterial och vår produktion är stor i förhållande till övriga Europas. Dessutom behöver vägnätet underhållas och förbättras.

Pappans närvaro under förlossning har ökat de senaste åren. Vid förlossning förväntas de spela en aktiv roll i form av stöd för kvinnan. Många män är inte beredda på att en normal förlossning hastigt kan behöva slutas med kejsarsnitt. Syftet med studien är att ta reda på och beskriva pappors upplevelser av akut kejsarsnitt. För att få fram pappors upplevelse användes en fenomenologisk forskningsmetod i form av kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer.

Studiens syfte är att se vad olika sorters pedagoger inom skolan skulle kunna berätta och beskriva om vad de har för erfarenhet och om arbetet med elever med diagnosen ADHD, vilka utmaningar som möts och vilka arbetssätt som kan användas. Kvalitativa intervjuer var den metod som användes, och intervjuerna spelades in med mobiltelefon för att inte missa vad pedagogerna från de fyra olika skolorna som intervjuades berättade och beskrev. Som teoretiskt perspektiv valdes behaviorismen som användes som analysverktyg för analysen. Resultatet visar att det inte bara finns ett arbetssätt pedagogerna använder utan av flera olika metoder. Den visar även deras erfarenheter och utmaningar av- och i skolan.

Bakgrund: Då en anhörig insjuknar drabbas makan eller maken av sorg och en känsla av maktlöshet. Att kunna vårda och hjälpa sina nära och kära ger ofta känslan av välbefinnande men som anhörigvårdare är det lätt att ta på sig fler roller samtidigt. Problemformulering: Hur upplever anhöriga till personer med Alzheimers sjukdom att det är att leva med och vårda en anhörig i hemmet? Syfte: Syftet är att beskriva anhörigas upplevelse av att leva med och vårda en person med Alzheimers sjukdom i hemmet. Metod: Studien utfördes som en systematisk litteraturstudie.
