Tankinsats för dieselbilar : Från idé till prototyp
This thesis describes the development of a tank insert for diesel cars, from idea to a prototype. The idea is to design an insert which makes it impossible to refuel petrol in a diesel car. The insert shall be installed in the existing tank opening on diesel cars. The tank insert is designed for the Swedish company SverigeGrepen AB located in Vänge, just outside Uppsala. Their main product is a pitchfork that is ergonomically designed and durable.A pre-study were performed in which information relating to fuel caps, tank openings, petrol- and diesel nozzles were collected.
Vision Tullkammarkajen - en studie i stadsförnyelse vid vatten
Tullkammarkajen är idag ett hamn- och industriområde beläget vid ån Nissan i
Halmstad. Det utmärkta läget i staden med närhet till både centrum,
järnvägsstation och vatten gör området synnerligen attraktivt. Men med dagens
markanvändning utnyttjas inte kvaliteterna fullt ut. Utmaningen består därför i
att planera ett nytt bostadsområde med en trivsam utemiljö och en kaj som är
öppen för allmänheten.
Den nya stadsdelen, Tullkammarkajen, får ett blandat innehåll men med en
dominans av bostäder. Viss etablering av handel, kontor och service ökar
attraktiviteten och ger liv och rörelse i området.
Mitt i prick : Optimerad internkommunikation
As competing organizations struggle to become more effective, one field stands out as one of the vital keys to success; internal communication. Even small errors in information handling can end up into obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. Managers constantly need to adjust the internal communication to fit variables that mirror the structure of the organization. This thesis is a study about how and in what magnitude structure affects organization?s internal communication.We have done qualitative interviews with McDonald?s and Diesel, two different global organizations within the branch of service business.
Alternativ för värme- och kylaförsörjning i planerade kontorsbyggnader på Arlanda
This thesis consider alternatives for heating and cooling planned office buildings at Arlanda airport. The thesis is divided into three parts where the third part is a shorter synthesis of the two first. In the first part the energy demands of the buildings are modelled in a computer program. Two different building models are created, one more conventional and one with good energy properties. The results shows that with proper construction and ventilation systems etc.
Beräkning av värmeförluster och energieffektivisering av elbussar
The ?civilized? world is in need of fossil fuel in order to function. Hybricon AB is a company in Umeå that is developing a technology that hopefully can reduce parts of this need. They are currently testing their two electrical busses (with Hybrid backup) in city traffic on the roads of Umeå in cooperation with the county of Umeå. The busses are originally diesel-busses, but the diesel motor has been replaced with two electrical hub-motors with a power of 145 kW each that are powered by batteries.The batteries are charged at the end station after each route. In case the batteries should run low on capacity during driving, they can be recharged by the so called genset.
Stölder och förebyggande åtgärder : en studie hos Holmen skogs entreprenörer och egna maskinlag
This master thesis was performed as a mission from Holmen Skog with the purpose to investigate to which extent their own machine teams and engaged contractors were exposed to theft and vandalism, and most common preventive measures used. With the help of collected data the study should lead to proposals of preventive measures that can help the machine teams in their struggle to minimise theft and vandalism.
Theft and vandalism are a big problem for Swedish forest contractors. In a scarce economic situation thefts and vandalism rapidly decrease the profit for the contractors. However, the last years have resulted in a positive awareness of thefts, and more and better preventive measures have been developed. With the initiative of this master thesis, Holmen Skog show that they are aware of the situation and that they wish to take control of the problem.
A total amount of 108 questionnaires was sent out to Holmen?s own machine teams and engaged contractors.
En utvärdering av reduceringstekniker för VOC på Beckers Group
Denna rapport är en studie där tre olika reningstekniker för att reducera utsläppen av VOC, (volatile organic compounds) på färgföretaget Beckers Group, jämförs och utvärderas. De reduceringsmetoder Beckers använder sig av i dagsläget vilka ska jämföras är på anläggningen i Sverige en uppkoncentrering med en zeolitrotor följt av katalytisk förbränning. Anläggningarna i Kina har ett skrubbertorn med diesel följt av en aktiv kolbädd som polersteg. Anläggningarna i USA har en katalytisk förbränningsmetod kallad Oxidizer.Teknikerna jämförs och utvärderas utifrån teknik, miljö och ekonomi i rapporten. Rapporten inleds med att teori gällande färgtillverkning, lösningsmedel och reningsteknikerna redogörs.
Biogasprojekt på Huntley Farm
Syftet med detta examensarbete är att på Huntley farm i Lusaka, Zambia undersöka gårdens möjligheter att utvinna biogas i framtiden ur deras restprodukter i form av gödsel från nötkreatur, kycklinguppfödning, höns samt avlopp från slakteri. Huntley farm ägs av Zambeef Products PLC som är en av Zambias största kött och jordbruksproducenter med en marknad i södra Afrika.För att göra farmen mer miljövänlig samt minska energikostnaderna har beräkningar gjorts på hur mycket biogas som teoretiskt går att utvinna ur substraten. Därefter kan biogasen användas till bränsle samt som ett komplement för generering av el vid eventuellt strömavbrott.Rapporten undersöker hur mycket substrat som finns tillgängligt på farmen under ett år och med hjälp av teoretiska värden för varje substrat beräknas det totala biogasutbytet. Behandling av farmens totala energiförbrukning och energikostnader har gjorts för att se vad biogasen ska användas till samt hur mycket energikostnaden kan skäras ner.En blivande biogasanläggning på Huntley farm skulle teoretiskt sätt kunna producera 1 464 000 m³ uppgraderad biogas vilket motsvarar 14,2G Wh el eller 1 450,8 m³ diesel. Efter energiförluster i form av uppvärmning av anläggning samt generering av el skulle den producerade energin bli 3,37G Wh eller uppgraderad biogas som motsvarar 725,4 m³ diesel eller 1450,8 m³ diesel om biogasanläggningen inte underhållas med biogas.
Elektrifiering av jordbruksmaskin : Direktkoppling till solföljare och elnät
The agricultural sector is currently highly dependent on fossil fuels, with diesel beingmost prominent. There are however both historical and modern alternatives thathave not been subject to enough evaluation to disregard them as suitable alternative.This report aims to theoretically investigate the feasibility of converting aconventional diesel driven tractor to run on electricity, delivered via a cableconnected to either the main power grid or on-site electric production, such asphotovoltaic. Delivering electricity to the machine via a cable is a method withhistorical roots in the early 20th century and in the present day mining industry.The economic and technological potential of the technique are evaluated, along withthe examination of several different motor powers, voltages, losses and constructionideas. The report finds the technique to be both possible as well as long termeconomically and environmentally beneficial. To realise this method however, somedeviations from the present methods of agricultural farming must be made,considering the more advanced driving patterns, the limited mobility and therequirement for extra driver awareness.
Utveckling av kyl- och smörjsystem för ekobilen Agilis HCCI motor
Every year, KTH participates in the Shell Eco Marathon, a competition whose goal is to design a vehicle that can go as far as possible using only the equivalent energy of one liter of petrol fuel. This year, one of KTH?s contributions to this race is the Agilis prototype; a car powered by a uniquely configured HCCI-engine developed at the university. The engine is dependent of several subsystems in order to work properly, among other, systems for cooling and lubrication.Combustion engines are in need of a cooling system that reduces the heat developed during the combustion. In general, two main types of cooling systems are employed; either air cooling, where the outside of the cylinder is exposed to a flow of the surrounding air, ore water cooling, where water flows in tubes around the engine, and the heat are transferred by the water to the surrounding air through a heat exchanger.The purpose of the lubrication system is to prevent the friction that builds up in the interference between moving parts in the engine.
Impulsmätning medelst gradvis deflektion av alla sprayer från högtrycks common rail spridare
A method for measuring the total impulse from a multi hole diesel injector, introduced inprevious thesis work, ?Development of a method and a device for measuring the momentumrate of fuel sprays?, by Mikael Lindström, has been further developed and tested. The conceptis to simultaneously deflect all sprays from a multi hole diesel injector by using a bell shapeddeflector. The fuel sprays are deflected straight down from their initial umbrella angle, andthe resulting deflection force is measured in a thin strained section of the load cell. The strainis given by three strain gauges, with quarter-bridge circuitry for each gauge.
Skogs- och energibolagens attityd till förnybara drivmedel vid upphandling av transporttjänster i norra Sverige
Sweden's government is dedicated to the goal of having a vehicle fleet that is independent of fossil fuels by 2030. Achieving these goals requires, among other things, new types of fuel that give lower net emissions of carbon dioxide. The present market includes stations offering lowlevel blends of renewable fuels in conventional diesel as well as some stations offering renewable fuels only.
The purpose of this study is to survey purchasers? attitudes to the use renewable fuels in roundwood and bioenergy transport in forest- and energy companies.
The study was based on qualitative interviews through a combination of face-to-face meetings and telephone interviews with each sample group. The total number of respondents was ten (10), consisting of five (5) from forest companies and five (5) from energy companies.
Transport service purchasers were generally positive to renewable fuels and considered these necessary in the future.

In this study we try to focus on the costs for wear parts on different type of soil tillage machines and at Väderstad Rapid drilling machine. We have studied some of the leading types of cultivators and disk harrows. Among the cultivators we have investigated Väderstad Cultus, Dalbo Dinkomax, Horsch Tiger and Terrano. At disk harrow we have looked at Amazone Catros and Väderstad Carrier.
We have made more detailed study on costs for wear parts, working depth, driving speed and diesel consumption.
Marknadsundersökning : Alternativa drivmedel och deras efterfrågan
Syftet med uppsatsen är att göra en marknadsundersökning på drivmedel, som har till ändamål att klarlägga den rådande marknaden liksom hur marknaden kan komma att se ut i framtiden. Med drivmedelsmarknad avses distributionskedjan och kostnader för drivmedel ur slutkonsumentens perspektiv, samt slutkonsumenternas efterfrågan på förnybara drivmedel.För att komma fram till syftet har vi tittat på vilka drivmedel som finns, vilken tillgänglighet de har och vilka kostnader som användningen av varje drivmedel medför. För att titta på marknadens efterfrågan på förnybara drivmedel har vi intervjuat ett transportföretag och ett landsting om hur de ställer sig till miljövänligare drivmedel och kostnaderna dessa medför. Vi genomförde då en kvalitativ undersökning genom att intervjua Caland Transport AB och Landstinget i Värmland.Marknadsundersökningen på drivmedel omfattar de fossila bränslen bensin, diesel och naturgas, biobränslen etanol, metanol, biogas och vätgas, samt eldrift. Vi har tagit reda på kort om drivmedlets aktuella/potentiella produktion liksom energiinnehåll (produkt), men har lagt fokus på distributionskedjan (plats) och kostnader (pris) ur slutkonsumentens perspektiv.

The Swedish government has a goal of achieving a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030. Heavy transport constitutes a significant part of Sweden's transportation sector and the vehicles are driven almost exclusively by fossil fuels. Siemens has developed eHighway, a concept for electric road systems enabling electrification of trucks, in order to reduce the environmental impact of heavy transports. This study aims to investigate the potential that eHighway has on transporting iron ore from the mine of Mertainen to a processing plant in Svappavaara. Electrified trucks are compared with conventional trucks, and diesel and electric trains.The evaluation was made with respect to energy consumption, environmental impact, and cost.
