Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka vilka specifika konsekvenser företagisering har haft pÄ vÄrden samt fÄ en nyanserad bild av företagisering. För att undersöka detta valde vi Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala som studieobjekt. Kvalitativ metod anvÀndes för att samla in empirisk data. Ostrukturerade intervjuer med personal frÄn olika delar av en sjukhus organisation har utförts. Empirin som vi har fÄtt fram har analyserats med hjÀlp av den teoretiska referensramen vilket bestod bland annat av olika former av företagisering samt kritik mot New Public Management.

This case study has its starting point in an unpublished study where the results showed that there is a conflict between the leadership and the employees in a private company. The conflict is identified as a result of the company leadership is steering for cost savings and efficiency The aim of this study is through analysis of  the open questions in a quantitative survey describe how the staffs  attitudes and culture is affecting the leadership of the organization. The ideological aspect is very clear and through the aspect of the structural differences between the public and private sector makes it possible to identify the staff?s social rules, ideology and group norms.  These are shown to be in conflict with the economical perspective of the private sector.

Syfte: Syftet med studien Àr att undersöka hur New Public Management pÄverkar de professionella inom universitetsvÀrlden. Metod: Studien har genomförts med en kvalitativ ansats. Empiriskt material har samlats in genom en sÄ kallad self-report inom professionella i universitetsvÀrlden. Resultat & slutsats: New Public Management har visat sig ha en negativ effekt pÄ de professionella inom universitetsvÀrlden. Vi fann att NPM ses som en bromskloss för universitetets utveckling eftersom kunskapen som de professionella besitter inte tas till hÀnsyn. IstÀllet har pengar och makt blivit ett större fokus jÀmfört med tidigare dÄ professionalitet hade en större roll.

Background and problem: Higher and other demands are made on management control systems in organizations which have a superior non-financial objective. Systembolaget, a state-owned company with monopoly to sell alcoholic beverages in Sweden, combines two main objectives which can be considered as conflicting, one financial target and one superior non-financial public welfare target. The research questions are focused on the translation of information through the organization?s levels and if the management control system makes it possible to run the organization according to both of the two main conflicting objectives.Purpose and Delimitations: To describe, analyze and evaluate how management control can be used in an organization, which is not profit maximizing and has both non-financial and financial objectives. The essay does not try to describe or draw generalized conclusions regarding general perspectives on Systembolaget?s assignment and objectives.Method: A qualitative and evaluative case study based on interviews with five employees at different levels in Systembolaget has been carried through.

Diskussioner kring kostnader inom hÀlso- och sjukvÄrdsverksamhets kan betraktas som ett omtvistat Àmne. AvvÀgningen mellan kostnad och kvalitet Àr kanske mer komplext pÄ detta omrÄde Àn pÄ mÄnga andra. Moraliska aspekter, liksom vÀrdighet och diskretion Àr exempel pÄ avseenden som Àr svÄra att mÀta i ekonomiska termer men som Àr nödvÀndiga för att kvaliteten pÄ vÄrden skall betraktas som hög. Det kan sÄledes anses finnas en inbyggd konflikt mellan vissa kvalitetsaspekter och kostnaden för vÄrden.Denna uppsats har sin utgÄngspunkt i vÄrdverksamhetens ökade ekonomiska styrning, vilket Àr en följd av de rationaliseringar och omstruktureringar som sedan 1980-talet uppmÀrksammats inom den offentliga sektorn och som gÄr under benÀmningen New Public Management. Syftet Àr att utifrÄn relevant teori genomföra intervjuer för att samla information om hur de förÀndringar som kommit att ta plats inom hÀlso- och sjukvÄrden mÀrks av och hur de bemöts av vÄrdpersonalen, samt konsekvenser av styrningens villkor och effekter.Slutsatserna har landat i att det inte rÄder nÄgot tvivel om att New Public Management kommit att förÀndra organisation och styrning inom hÀlso- och sjukvÄrden.

The purpous of this master?s thesis is to explore how the swedish public library evolved between 1890-1911, before the state implemented the library reform in 1912. The material used to cunduct the study concists mainly of texts published during the time frame of the thesis in the form of books, booklets and articles from Folkbiblioteksbladet, a journal dedicated to the subject of the swedish public library.Drawing upon Habermas theory of the structural transformation of the public sphere and Bourdieus theories about taste as social distinction and symbolic capital, the thesis seeks to show how the public participated in the evolvement of the public library and which aspects of society that contributed to the public library?s establishment as an institution. The findings are also discussed in relation to previous research of the history of the Swedish public library.

This thesis is a cultural theoretical case study of the art project (O)önskad samhÀllsförbÀttring.Via an analysis of the project, that is based on theories of power, resistance and contemporaryurban development, it examines the construction of urban space, its impact on public art including the ability of art to initiate evolvement of the urban public space.The last decades art has plaid an important role in what is called the creative city; to become attractive nodal points of the global economy, larger cities increasingly invest in art,culture and creative industry. Simultaneously the urban public space is limited to activitiesand expressions of art that are presumed to create economic growth. This introduces animpression of what is allowed and what is not allowed, possible and not possible, wished andnot wished which, as a consequence, evolves the public space. The events during the artproject and the reactions that followed enlightened these limitations. This tells a story, not only about the structuring process of the local urban space, but also important changes that are created as a simultaneous effect at different levels in society, as well locally as globally.

This paper is an event study on Initial Public Offering?s return behavior after the dot com bubble. Cumulative Abnormal Returns are used to measure the performance against a market index. The results suggest that the market correctly prices IPOs in the long run thus upholding the Market Efficiency hypothesis. Moreover, value weighted CARs show that large IPOs are more likely to outperform smaller IPOs, however in the long run there is an unpredictable pattern.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how social procurement can be a further development of public-private partnership. This is done with interviews and a case study of the social procurement Mitt Gröna Kvarter and its labor effort Boendebyggarna. The theoretical framework used in the thesis consists of public-private partnership and corporate social responsibility. It tries to answer the following questions:What does this social procurement mean by the concept of public-private partnership?What does this social procurement mean for the participants involved?How can social procurement be seen as a further development of public-private partnership?The thesis uses the theory development around the concepts of public-private partnership and corporate social responsibility and shows that social procurement does indeed have similarities to public-private partnership and could very well be a further development of it..

This paper is about if municipal council's ideology affect steering in the municipalities of Vellinge and Fagertsa. Vellinge has for a long time been governed by Sweden's conservative party Moderaterna. Fagersta has for a long time been governed by Sweden's left party VĂ€nsterpartiet. The main question of the paper to be answered is as follows:Is there a relation between the steering in municipalities and the ideology of the governing parties?The hypothesis is that there is a connection between what ideology the party that governs has and how the municipalities are being governed.

Invasive alien plant species have historically caused major damage to ecosystems and are considered to be amongst the greatest threats to biodiversity globally. The lurking threat of harm to well functioning ecosystems has led to the development of global and regional goals and regulations which seek to stop the spread of invasive species. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has proposed a list of species that are specifically harmful to the Swedish flora and fauna, which includes (amongst others) garden lupin. The management of invasive species is however largely dependent on local actions, making municipal public servants key players. This qualitative study uses interviews to investigate how municipal public servants who are responsible for managing invasive alien species view this work.

The public administration and its officials have a number of values which they have to relate to in their work. The values are a set of democratic and economic values.This study?s purpose is to examine how the officials at the National Insurance Office in Sweden give priority to these values. The study is performed by interviews with officials at two insurance offices.The study shows that the officials in a high degree value the democratic values legal security and public ethics. In turn they experience that productivity, which is an economic value, is being promoted in a high degree from the management.

The aim of this master thesis is to examine how leadership in public libraries is constructed discursively in the Swedish library field of today. The empirical material reviewed is job postings and articles from three library related journals.The thesis seeks to identify what different leadership discourses can be found by looking at definitions, forms of address, present actors and themes emerging. It also aims to examine the contingent presence of late modern leadership theories in the order of discourse. The leadership theories primarily investigated are New Public Management (NPM) and value-based leadership.The theoretical starting point of the thesis is discourse theory, developed by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. In the analysis a model of four phases is used; in which central concepts of discourse theory help identify the discourses.
