Denna uppsats handlar om vilka nationalistiska kännetecken och egenskaper som en svensk söker för att identifiera en artefakt som svensk. Nationalismen är gömd i allt runt omkring oss. Allt från förskolepedagogiken och skattekontoret till kaffemuggen och lägenheten speglar i någon utsträckning de idéer som det svenska samhället är uppbyggt kring. Denna speciella stämning som är typisk svensk går även igenom i hur man som konsument ser på en svensk produkt eller vilka egenskaper hos en artefakt man letar efter för att avgöra om den är svensk. Uppsatsen undersöker hur ett antal personer i Kristianstad tänker kring svenska ting.

This study is conducted with a focus on managers and its different forms as found in a nation wide Swedish bedroom specialist-organisation, Sängjätten. Leadership is perceived in many forms and depends on a large variety of factors within and outside the organisation. One of these factors is ownership and the characteristics these imply on the forms in which the manager works. Within the studied organisation there were two distinctive forms of ownership regarding to the stores we studied; such as franchising compared to the franchiser owned through a national headquarter, so-called ?self-proprietary stores?.

Denna studie undersöker hur politiker inom regeringspartierna i den politiska debatten framställer och konstruerar människor utan uppehållstillstånd. Hur talas det kring människor utan uppehållstillstånd? För att få svar på mina frågor analyseras, med diskursteori som både metodologisk och teoretisk utgångspunkt, de politiska debatter som tar plats i riksdagens kammare.Uppsatsen redogör för och diskuterar den asyldiskurs som regeringspolitikerna försöker göra gällande i den politiska debatten. Analysen visar på att kriminaliseringen av papperslösa och gömda samt framställningen av Sverige som öppet och generöst utgör en utgångspunkt för diskursen..

The state of Israel is known as the only democracy in the Middle East. The purpose of this study was to examine if there is aspects in the Israelis society that can be questioned in terms of liberal democracy.Areas of concerns in the study are the Israeli official policy's concerning inclusion and exclusion of their citizens in areas of property owning, personal status and the duty of military service.The results show that the Israeli society distinguishes their citizens in these areas by their ethnic origin, in favour for the Jewish population. The law prohibits changes in the states Jewish character. One clear example how this is presented is that a Jew is prohibited to marry a non-Jew. The results show also that this official policy by the Israeli state violates important principles of liberal democracy.

This essay aims to emphasize and clarify the positions that exist within the current globalization debate. The positions are the neo-liberal, the opponents, the pragmatists and the skeptics. The text presents and explains their ideological, moral and political positions and beliefs about the world, the nation state, the society and the individual; in light of Steven Lukes? and Antonio Gramsci's theories regarding the interaction and the relationship between power and hegemony. The methodological starting point is the ideology-critical analysis; in which their arguments in the current globalization debate is highlighted and categorized.

The society of consumption exposes us to a lot of information, where advertisement constitutes an extensive part. Due to its expanding, advertisement receives a natural and obvious space in our everyday life. This study aims to investigate how social and cultural values can be mediated in advertisement. The focus has been put to ideas related to health and fitness in the advertisement of power drinks. The thesis takes social constructionism as a starting point, and combines image- and critical discourse analysis in purpose to analyze the pictures.Sociology of consumption, construction of identity, lifestyle and everyday life all constitute an essential part of my analysis.

Uppsatsen belyser hur mat genom att kopplas till geografiskt ursprung länkas samman till en matkulturell identitet. Med utgångspunkt i projektet Ny Nordisk Mat undersöks matkultur som process, för att försöka förstå hur projektet bidrar till konstruktionen och värdetillskrivningen av den nordiska maten, samt hur detta bidrar till att skapa och upprätthålla regional identitet. Analysen av det empiriska materialet tar stöd i fyra teoretiska perspektiv/begrepp: Björkholms (2011) teoretiska modell över kulturarv som process, Billigs (1995) teori om banal nationalism, Kullgrens (2000) idéer om regional identitet samt Aronczyks (2013) teori om nationell märkesprofilering. Det empiriska materialet utgörs av texter utgivna av och relaterade till projektet Ny Nordisk Mat, som studeras med hjälp av diskursanalys inspirerad av Foucaults arkeologiska analys. Analysen visar att värdetillskrivningen av de nordiska råvarorna sker genom kopplingar till det nordiska landskapet och klimatet.

Denna undersöknings syfte är att redogöra för den finlandssvenska satirens skildring av språkstriden i Finland under mellankrigstiden. Huvudkällan för detta ändamål är skämttidningen Garm som innehar en unik position i den finska skämtpressens historia. Genom att analysera tidskriftens årgångar från perioderna 1927-1931 och 1934-1939 besvaras frågan: ?Hur representeras språkstriden i relation till finlandssvensken??. Det läggs vikt på vilken typ av samtidsfrågor som uttryckligen är relaterade till aktuella händelser rörande språkstriden, hur äktfinskheten och finsk nationalism representeras och hur språkliga skillnader skildras.

The communist party Khmer Rouge took over the power in Cambodia in 1975, and ruled the country until the beginning of 1979. During these years they attempted to create a completely new society, a true Khmer nation, which involved massive economic and social reorganisation and elimination of people which did not fit in the new ideal.Three decades has passed since the genocide, and the senior leaders of the Khmer Rouge will now be tried in the Khmer Rouge tribunal, which consists of both Cambodian and international judges and prosecutors. The integrity of those tribunal representatives will be crucial for the integrity of the tribunal as a whole and thus also for the outcome of the processes. It is hard to determine whether the purposes for demand of accountability will be satisfied, it is though clear that there are many obstacles in the way for an unproblematic and fair procedure..

The main objective of this paper has been to construct a way to measure the level of social capital in a society. Based on a theory which describes the ideal society have I herein tried to find out to what extent the Swedish and Danish communities correspond to this model. The theoretical foundation consist of several different levels of analysis, and I have indeed found there to be consideral differences between the two nations on these different levels. The paper however conclude that these differences even out to add up to a Social Capital Index that is remarkably similar. A result which is to be interpreted as one nation being about as close to the ideal situation from a social capital point-of-view as the other..

This study aims to gain greater knowledge about the phenomenon cheerleading journalism and its existence in the Swedish sports journalism. We did this by making an impact in the media debate, to thereby identify key aspects of cheerleading journalism. These elements are then used to reach a preliminary definition of the phenomenon. This was followed by qualitative interviews with six Swedish sports journalists from newspapers Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, with the aim to find out how they behaved the phenomenon. The results of the earlier debate and the answers from the respondents show that cheerleading journalism is nationalistic, biased and seeks an inclusive effect on its audience.

Cyber-attacker utgör stora hot mot infrastrukturen, datorstyrda system och nätverksbaserade tjänster, enligt tidigare forskning. Men hur hotfulla är dessa attacker egentligen? Ska vi frukta att framtida krig blir virtuella? Kan en ond grupp av människor med några rader av kod få kontroll över vår nation? Syftet med uppsatsen är att dels försöka definiera vad begreppet arkeologisk identitet i nutid innebär, dels göra en analys av hur arkeologisk identitet tar sig uttryck i en arkeologisk/politisk diskussion. Begreppet diskuteras utifrån två skilda exempel på vad arkeologisk identitet kan innebära för minoritetsgrupper, dels kurderna i staden Hasankeyf i sydöstra Turkiet, dels samerna i Härjedalen i Sverige. This thesis is largely about museums and their role and development in and for society. With a field/case study of the District Six Museum in Cape Town, we try to encapsulate a modern function for museums within a context of 1) the current worldwide discussion on museums and their future, and 2) the development of a new democratic nation in South Africa, and museums possible role in that process. Through analysis of interviews made with concerned people within and outside the District Six museum weintend to get a picture of the views on this particular museum and its role and function, for its community and society at large, plus for other museums, as a possible role model. The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate how contemporary Swedish picture-books describe ethnicity. The analysis is based upon eight books that were published during the period 1996 to 2006. The thesis is based upon a qualitative content analysis and a model of analysis that has been constructed with inspiration from Maria Nikolajeva and Pil Dahlerup and their conceptions of analyzing literature. The study?s theoretical framework is primarily based on the sociology of literature and the perspective of the society in literature.
