This study examines the connection between Sweden`s crime rate and financial aid, focusing on the effects of social spending on different types of criminal activity in the Swedish municipalities between 2000 and 2022. Using theories such as social support theory and utility maximization, the study investigates the relationship between economic assistance and crimes like theft, attempted murder, drug offenses, and assault. The results suggest a complicated relationship: financial aid is associated with a rise in drug offenses and assaults but a decrease in larceny and robberies, when controlling for all observed and unobserved time invariant factors in the municipal factors (a fixed effects panel data model). However, when we test our model for robustness, the effects disappear meaning that other factors that are time varying in the municipality are biasing our estimates. Examples for this may be factors like peer pressure, substance addiction, and socioeconomic conditions that have a considerable impact on criminal conduct, financial aid alone may not be adequate to curb crime.

The purpose of this study is to analyse and compare how religious and non-religious world views are described and represented in three Swedish textbooks. The main question of this study is: How do three textbooks for the first stage of religious studies in high school represent non-religious and religious world views based on the text analysis tools: ethos, modality and transitivity?The three textbooks that are being analysed and compared were produced in the years of 2000, 2002 and 2009. The textbooks are used when teaching the first stage of religious studies in Swedish high school. The text analysis that I´ve chosen to use in this study is a part of Norman Faircloughs critical discourse analysis.

The purpose of this thesis is to find out how gender roles are described in musical lyrics written for children. I used gender theories that describe how stereotypical gender roles are displayed in music and these theories were later compared with the songbooks I studied. The thesis is a qualitative study to detect masculine and feminine related differences in the texts. After having read, analyzed and compared over 200 songs I found that the stereotype notions of masculinity and femininity is reflected in songs. Society has transferred in this way normative values on to the children through the songs that teachers choose to sing in schools..

Syftet med denna C-uppsats har varit att undersöka hur metoden Aggression Replacement Training (ART) används i arbetet med ungdomar. I ART tränas den unge i att förändra sitt aggressiva beteende och sina värderingar och ersätta dessa med positiva tankar och handlingar. Metoden är multimodal vilket innebär att den kombinerar olika delar i en och samma metod för att genom strukturerade övningar komma fram till bäst resultat. I vår undersökning har vi gjort fem kvalitativa intervjuer som vi sedan har jämfört med varandra och tidigare forskning. Vi fann att killar var överrepresenterade på ART träningen, att killar tenderar vara mer aggressiva och utåtagerande än tjejer.

Den här studien utgår från en kvalitativ forskningsansats, där vi valt att intervjua fyra stycken lärare. Syftet med studien är att synliggöra några lärares tankar kring de sjunkande resultat som visats i de internationella och nationella undersökningarna, som PISA, PIRLS och de nationella proven i årskurs 3. Frågeställningarna berör hur lärarna ser på de negativa resultaten och om de upplever någon förändring i elevers läsförmåga. Utifrån detta har då lärarna förändrat eller anpassat sin undervisning som en följd av de resultaten och på vilket sätt i sådant fall? Frågorna berör även om de negativa resultaten påverkar lärarnas självkänsla.Sammanfattningsvis visar analysen av studien att det har skett en förändring i elevers läsförmåga.

The art of riding is a fugitive art, which signifies that the means available for documentation of performances are insufficient, and that the equipment used by the old masters are important clues for the understanding of their art. The most specialized tool used for riding is the bit, in particular the curb. As museum catalogues become accessible to the public through the internet, riders will look for information about bits. It is then important that the information provided in the catalogues is valid not just for the curator, archaeologist or art historian, but also for the rider.In this paper, I add context to the bits by explaining two opposing philosophies of bitting, and how they affect the design of the bits. This is followed by a brief history of the art of riding and how the bits have evolved since the 16?th century.

The purpose of this paper was to investigate how the Child mental Health Service, BUP Ektorp, textually constructs its demarcation, by studying case records from the first evaluations of the patients. The main questions were: In what way are the competitors and their problems represented in the texts, how is the solution justified and explained, and how do these factors relate to each other? The method being used is discourse analysis, influenced by Mörkenstam. The main conclusions are that the demarcation consists of a number of onceptions about the child, the parents, and the therapist. I denna studie diskuteras hur en viss bildpedagogisk praktik som vilar på ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande kan uppfattas av elever avseende lärande och utveckling och hur denna arbetsprocess påverkar deras uppfattning om lärande i och genom bildämnet. Studien utvärderar hur elevers upplevelser och sinneserfarenheter ser ut i samma bildpedagogiska praktik och hur de medieras i deras bildskapande. Metoden är kvalitativ där med hjälp av ostrukturerad intervju och hermeneutiskt tolkande sätt analyseras information som trängs bakom ord och beskrivningar. Resultatet visar att kognitiva och emotionella aspekter i bildämnet i kombination med en flerstämmig och multimodal skolmiljö stimulerar elevernas lärande/kreativitet och utvecklar olika medieringsförmågor. Elever utvecklar bildspråk och skapar kunskap ur dialog genom social interaktion.

?Childs pedagogic material ? A qualitative study of child?s use of pedagogic materials available at five nursery schools and about their teachers thoughts about the display of the pedagogic material?In the nursery preschool the environment and the educational materials have always had a central place. That's why it has been chosen to study and observe five preschools and interview sex teachers, in an attempt to understand the teachers thought about the choice of material and the choices of material that the children used. The reason I do this is to see what the underlying idea about the materials the children use is, and why educators choose to make certain materials visible. The purpose of this study is to examine the educational materials that are used to stimulate children´s learning and examine what determines the choice of educational materials.

This study covers reading comprehension and the introduction of the "Tell me" approach as proposed by Chambers (1993) to a group of teachers in a Swedish F-3 school. Five teachers got to use the method for three weeks and were interviewed before and after the experiment to analyze their current ways of working and reactions to using the method in everyday tutoring. The result from the first interview showed that all of the participants had been using methods to improve the children?s reading comprehension prior to the study, but no one had tried the "Tell me" approach. After trying the method throughout the test period, all of the participants were positive about the methodology and showed an interest in continuing the use of it.

Detta arbete presenterar en systemisk-funktionell analys av elevtexter skrivna av elever i årskurs nio. Det är totalt 24 elevtexter från ett ersättningsprov inom det nationella provet 2012 som analyseras. Tolv av de undersökta texterna är skrivna av pojkar och tolv är skrivna av flickor. Uppgiften eleverna fått är att skriva en novell utifrån en bild.Syftet med detta arbete är att se eventuella skillnader i sättet att skriva mellan pojkar och flickor samt utreda vilka skillnaderna är. För att kunna se detta har elevtexterna analyserats med systemisk-funktionell textanalys för att se processer, deltagare och omständigheter.

What is the relation of image and word, of sentences and pictures? What kind of message does this combination produce when juxtaposed on a single material plane? And how do we read its ?infinite? relation? These are the questions at the center of this inquiry. My main interest concerns the exact nature of the relation between photographic images and textual elements of poetic language when these are juxtaposed in what I call Phototext poetry.The thesis calls into question the conventional reading habits of the conjunction of photographs and texts, and seeks to understand the more complex connections intrinsic to the relation image/word and its material and perceptual play in poetic works. Does a text always ?anchor? the multiple meanings of an image, as Roland Barthes argues? What if the alterations of an image could ?anchor? certain fractions of a poetic, polysemantic textual construct? Is a photograph indifferent to the visual, material permutations of texts that certain contemporary poetic practices produce?I discuss phototextual works and collaborations of various kinds, from Molin fontän [?Molin?s fountain?] (1866) over classic surrealist poetry to language-oriented writing.
