This thesis explores the relationship between the Swedish autonomous left and the terrace culture of European football. It has its geographic starting point in Stockholm, Sweden and follows the three larges tStock­holm football clubs, AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby, and its supporters. The author has followed the football club Hammarby from the terrace for the entire 2011 football season, and has interviewed six political activists who visit, or used to visit, the terrace. The research context this study is incorporated into centres around the history of, and relationship between, the terrace cultures of AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby. Previous research has also focused on the radical potential of Ultras terrace culture (which is derived from Italian supporter culture) and the terrace culture from an intersectional perspective.

The purpose of this thesis is to study how today?s consumer society can be understood from ananalysis of the phenomenon Every Day Carry (EDC). The aim is thus to problematize the daily useof the artifacts that surrounds us and investigate how these can be understood as networks of humanand non-human actors, aswell as identity- and meaning-making practices in today?s consumersociety.The theoretical and methodical framework is built upon an eclectic variety of consumptiontheories,Michel Callon?s, John Law?s and Bruno Latour?s work on Actor-Network-Theory,Discourse analysis inspired by Michel Foucault, Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe and anethnographic methodology specifically adapted for online research. The empirical material consistsof photographs and commentaries from two EDC blogs aswell as commentaries regarding EDCfrom a commentary field on Youtube.com.

TitleSystems, Stability and Power. The Discourse of Information in Organizing Knowledge.AbstractThe aim of this Master's thesis is to inquire into the consequences of an unequal distribution of power between information discourses in the field of knowledge organisation. A deconstruction of Jennifer Rowley's and John Farrows introductory textbook Organizing Knowledge from 2000 is related to the major discourses of information in LIS. Questions posed in this study are: What meaning is ascribed to information in the material studied? Which information discourses are given a dominant position? Which are excluded? and: How does this affect the construction of the library and information science student's identity, in relation to practices of knowledge organisation? The theoretical framework is provided by Ernesto Laclau's and Chantal Mouffe's theory of discourse and combined with techniques for text analysis originating from the work of Norman Fairclough.The analysis reveals a strong domination of a cognitive discourse of information that underlines the importance of information systems for the organisation of knowledge.

Mia och Klara- karaktären Tabita Karlsson är den ideala White trash-stereotypen. Hon är en deltidisarbetslös ensamstående mamma med tre barn med tre olika män. Hon är sexuellt promiskuös, röker och dricker alkohol i tid och otid, pratar dialekt och bor på landet. Ovårdad och odisciplinerad, sedeslös, vulgär och agerar helt utan tanke på vad som anses passande av den rådande medelklassnormen. Med Tabita Karlsson som material presenteras de diskurser vilka utgör White trash-stereotypen med hjälp av diskursanalys enligt Laclau och Mouffe.

Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka den svenska debatten om surrogatmödraskap där metod och teori utgörs av diskursanalys. Det textmaterial jag valt att undersöka består av tre artiklar med medföljande kommentarer från de svenska tidsskrifterna Bang och Ottar. Debatten om surrogatmödraskap i Sverige är polariserad, antingen är man för eller så är man mot. Mitt syfte med denna uppsats är att redogöra för och analysera de argument och föreställningar som kommer till uttryck inom dessa två motsatta positioner. Min teoretiska utgångspunkt är Laclau & Mouffes diskursteori.

The aim of this study is to analyse how female neopagan practitioners form their identitiesindividually as well as collectively. Using Ernesto Laclau?s and Chantal Mouffe?s discourse theory and Anthony Giddens? descriptions of late modernity and self-identity, I intend toinvestigate my informants? construction and upholding of a meaningful identity and sense ofself. I will also look at how the neopagan movement can be viewed as a phenomenon closely interwoven with the overriding tendencies in our contemporary society. Neopaganism is an umbrella term that is used to describe a number of modern nature religions that take their inspiration from pre-Christian traditions.

The approaches thatare taken to reading and readers are examined as well as the consequencesdifferent approaches might have. The empirical material is based on 93articles published in Swedish library journals. The theoretical andmethodological starting point is discourse analysis. The application ofdiscourse analysis according to Michel Foucault?s hypotheses reveals threediscursive formations regarding the professional identity of public librarianswithin the framework of reading promotion: The public librarian asguarantor of democracy is related to the public library's original mission offostering, cultivating and educating citizens.

Syftet för denna studie är att undersöka vilka vithetsdiskurser som artikuleras visuellt och verbalt i högstadieskolans bildundervisning i konsthistoria, samt att undersöka hur elever förhåller sig till dessa diskurser i det bildarbete som genomförs i anslutning till momentet. Dessutom syftar studien till att diskutera bildlärarens uppdrag att lyfta frågor om etniska maktrelationer och samtidigt överföra ett nationellt kulturarv, enligt aktuella styrdokument. Studiens övergripande frågeställningar är: Vilka vithetsdiskurser artikuleras och reproduceras, visuellt och verbalt, i det material som introducerar momentet konsthistoria i högstadieskolans bildundervisning? Hur förhåller sig elever till dessa diskurser i det bildarbete som genomförs i anslutning till momentet? De teoretiska utgångspunkterna är diskursteori, socialsemiotik, och intersektionell vithetsteori. Materialet består av ett introduktionsmaterial som en bildlärare använt när denna introducerat momentet konsthistoria för en klass i årskurs 9, intervjuer med åtta elever från denna klass och åtta bilder som dessa elever arbetat med i anslutning till momentet.

This thesis describes how social work language practice circulates around the implementation process of an evidence based structured assessment tool – Savry. The purpose is to examine and understand the social workers language practice in a working group that uses this structured assessment tool in their work with youth. The purpose is also to look for dimensions of identity in terms of discourse. The ontological viewpoint is post-structuralism where language is in focus. The theoretical framework is discourse theory based upon the work of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe.

Muslims and islam are unquestionably a part of European social life. In recent times, however, different events, such as the enlargement of the EU and the fact that muslims to a higher extent demand their rights, have brought a number of questions to the fore concerning muslims and islam in Europe. Moreover, we can see an increasing level of islamophobia in contemporary Europe, but also that the EU has launched several programs to increase both the diversity and the unity throughout the Union and to combat islamophobia. However, most of these programs focus on islam as religion and muslims in general, and such a narrow viewpoint runs the risk of missing important issues.In this new context it would be interesting to widen the scope and ask what place not only the muslim community and islam, but also sharia (an important element in islam), may have in future Europe ? especially when it comes to muslim identity?My main objects are to see how the concept of sharia is constructed in the debates in the European Parliament, how that discourse relates to a social practice ? the increasing islamophobic ideas in Europe ? and what effect this may have on muslim identity in a European context.The results shows that the Parliament constructs sharia as, for example, something archaic, threatening, inhuman and misogynistic.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the reasons a religious minority leader has to convert to a larger religious group and how the leader chooses to communicate this event in certain daily press. In March 2014 the leader and founder of the Christian and charismatic movement ?Livets Ord? (Words of Life), Ulf Ekman, announced his decision converting to the Roman Catholic Church after a 10 year long process of thinking. The communications of Ekman?s linguistic language in the articles are discussed through two discourse analyzing perspective, Laclau & Mouffe?s and Fairclough?s.

Denna uppsats är en diskursteoretisk analys av den amerikanska dokumentärfilmen Countdown to Zero (2010). När jag för en tid sedan såg filmen för första gången fick jag idén om att skriva denna uppsats. Anledningen var att filmen inte alls förmedlade det budskap som jag hade förväntat mig. Jag vill försöka förklara vad det är för faktorer som ger dokumentärfilmen sitt specifika uttryck i allmänhet och Countdown to Zeros uttryck i synnerhet d.v.s att problematisera hur och varför filmen är producerad på sitt specifika sätt samt hur detta påverkar dess budskap. Filmen handlar om kärnvapen och hotet som de utgör för mänsklighetens välbefinnande och överlevnad.

Språket har en central roll i diskursanalys eftersom språket formar vår verklighet. På samma sätt bidrar medier till hur vi upplever världen omkring oss. Medier förmedlar representationer av verkligheten och utesluter samtidigt andra. Ett forum där detta sker är sexrådgivningsspalter i kvällstidningar. En klichéartad bild av den sexuella relationen mellan man och kvinna är att mannen ses som styrd av drifter och instinkt medan kvinnan är nästintill ointresserad av sex.
