The purpose of this Masters thesis is to examine the representation of student life in Uppsala in the 1860s and 1870s in memoirs. This purpose is achieved by contextualising the memoirs in two different analyses. In the first, the representation of student life in the memoirs is compared to that in another literary genre, the university novel, and it is found that the two representational forms paint completely contradictory pictures, where in the novels the higher education is depicted as rotten and in dire need of reformation, whereas in the memoirs the system, albeit somewhat flawed, works. The memoirs and the novels thus seem to be competing systems of representation, created in different discourses, wherein the purpose and nature of higher education widely differed. In the second analysis, the examination of the memoirs is based on research concerning the nation building process in Sweden during the 19th century.

The Catalan movement of Independence is a well debated subject in Spanish news for the last decade. This thesis aims to examine what kind of identityarguments that spanish versus catalan newspapers make about the independence movement, in relation to nationalism and national identity. This is to deeper the understanding about the current complex situation in the Iberian Peninsula. The research shows that identityarguments about the independence movement presented by catalonian newspapers clearly put focus on identifying the ethnic and cultural reasons for the growing nationalism in the region, as well as discussing the political possibilities and obstacles of a sovereign Catalonia. In comparison, the identityarguments presented by spanish newspapers has another view of the situation, where the political aspect of the nationalistic catalan movement, identify the process as defying the Spanish Constitution and challenging the traditional historic unity of Spain.

Runt om i världen pågår krig, konflikter och tvister, som grundar sig i problem som har uppstått till följd av människors missnöje när det gäller dragningar av statsgränser. Det är gränser som vanligtvis inte harmoniserar med nationers etnicitet och utbredning, vilket kan leda till att en matchningsproblematik mellan stat och nation växer fram. I november år 2012 hölls ett tidigarelagt parlamentsval i regionen Katalonien i Spanien, ett parlamentsval som indirekt kom att ses som en folkomröstning där de katalanska invånarna röstade för eller emot ett självständigt Katalonien. Syftet med den här uppsatsen har varit att visa på konsekvenser som detta val fick för Spanien och dess regioner, men också att utreda Kataloniens politiskgeografiska möjligheter att bryta sig loss från sin moderstat Spanien och bilda en självständig stat.Katalonien har i uppsatsen utgjort en fallstudie vars händelseförlopp och självständighetsprocess kan appliceras på andra regioner och nationer som befinner sig i en liknande situation. Uppsatsens undersökning utgörs främst av litteraturstudier där Kataloniens och Spaniens geografiska och historiska bakgrunder har beskrivits och jämförts med andra nationer inom Europa.

In 1972 the regulations on tax surcharge were introduced. In the new system the sur-charge are imposed by the Tax Authority (skatteverket) and not the Court. Since 1995 the European Convention on Human Rights constitute law in Sweden, which means that Sweden is forced to guarantee its citizens the human rights in the Convention. Article 6 in the Convention states that everyone, in the determination of his civil rights and obligations or of any criminal charge against him, is entitled to a fair hea-ring within reasonable time. The Article also expresses the right for anyone charged with a criminal offence to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law (the presumtion of innocence).

Arbetet innefattar en studie baserad på det grafiska verk som slutfördes på Colossai Studios 2007 som var ett förstadie till en kommande filmsekvens som skulle användas inför marknadsföringen av spelet Frontline Nation. Inom ett teoretiskt ramverk av spel- , design- och mediestudier analyseras verket och dess skapandeprocess för att slutligen mynna ut i en diskussion om hur expanderingen kan utföras med hänsyn tagen till en potentiell betraktares suspension of disbelief. Analysen leder slutligen fram till ett antal angreppssätt där kontentan är att vi kan underlätta betraktarens suspension of disbelief genom medvetna val att hålla grafiken trogen till verkligheten, fotografiska konventioner, förstärkande referenspunkter samt en sanningspräglad helhet. Angreppssätten kan med fördel användas inför framtida grafiska expanderingar mot en fotorealistisk stil där spelupplevelsen beaktas eller som språngbräde till framtida forskning..

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was ratified by Sweden in 1990. Among its principles is devotion to the best interests of the child (article 3). This principle is hard to define, and it is difficult to find studies on how children express themselves about how the convention should be realized. The Swedish government wants local councils to introduce routines that follow the proposed rights. The Swedish school system is an important arena where UNCRC?s rights can be put into practice.

I min studie lyfter jag fram hur den officiella språkpolitiken kan upplevas i vardagen.

Due to the growth of multinational concerns during the last decades, with large parts of international trade involving such corporations, the field of transfer pricing, including financial transactions such as internal loans, have received a great deal of attention in tax legislation. The internationally accepted foundation for transfer pricing is the so called Arm's length principle, expressed in Swedish law through the "Korrigeringsregeln". In the Diligentia court case, the concepts of transparency and control were given a crucial role in the calculation of an Arm's length's price of interest rates. The Swedish tax agency interpreted the ruling in that case as if a parent company always can be assumed to enjoy sufficient transparency and control to reduce the risk on their debt obligations. A great deal of uncertainty therefore surrounded their position and to what extent the Diligentia-ruling could be cited as precedent.

Therefore COO is used in marketing to position a brand.Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how luxury fashion brands communicatetheir national identity through analyzing their advertising.

Swedish contract law is based on the main principle of freedom of contract, which means that a contract is built on a voluntary agreement of both parties. There are exceptions from the principle of freedom of contract. In some instances a party is obliged to contract (kontraheringsplikt), which also is the subject for this paper. Kontraheringsplikt can be described as an obligation for one of the parts in a relation to come to an agreement under normal circumstances with everyone who ask for it. The cases of kontraheringsplikt are rather different.

The starting point of this paper has to do with rapid changes within the information technology and the need for agile and fast systems. The primary goal is to investigate what happens with recordkeeping practices in agile environments like service oriented architecture (SOA). It is in the possible transfer between IT architecture and digital archive the area of this paper resides. The paper relates to the Records Continuum model by which records will be considered historical and active at the time of creation. In the Records Continuum model recordkeeping practices and archival requirements will have to be taken into account at the time of creation.This paper concerns SOA from the perspective of Archival and Information science.

Kulturen inom en organisation kan göra företaget mer effektivt, motivera personal och underlätta kommunikation. Dock går vissa tankebanor kring företagskulturer isär. Vissa forskare menar att varje företag har en unik kultur med en helt egen uppsättning normer och värderingar. Kombinationen av olika människor i organisationen och företagets unika historia bildar en kultur som blir helt egen och därmed olika andra företags kulturer.

The purpose of this study was to identify reading strategies used by high school students when reading textbooks and school-related material. Any differences in reading strategies between Biology and English were also of importance. A study sample of 62 students from three different high schools in Sweden participated in the study and were asked to fill out a survey questionnaire. Eight students from this sample were also interviewed. The findings of this study show that students use a number of different reading strategies of which metacognitive and sociocultural factors play a crucial part.
