The project concerns a predevelopment work for Scania AB, a leading manufacturer of heavytrucks, and was performed as a master thesis work for the program Design and ProductDevelopment at KTH. The purpose of this work was to examine how the work situation of truckdrivers, especially long-haulage drivers, can be improved with respect to prolonged sedentaryoccupation. Mental fatigue and under-stimulation due to low cognitive load during long drivescan be major risk factors for traffic accidents. Physical strain injuries to both the skeleton andmuscles are common for this working group and minimal opportunity for daily exercise alsoincreases the risk of developing blood clots in the legs, which can have serious consequences forthe driver's health.An extensive background study, both theoretical and exploratory, was performed to identify thedrivers' concerns and comfort needs. Various treatments such as massage and active sitting wereinvestigated and existing products within the area studied.

My purpose with this thesis has been tostudy the intersection between Landscapearchitecture and Land Art. They both relateto the landscape in some way whetherit is to the urban landscape or thenatural landscape.What tangent points are there betweenthese two subjects, and can you learnsomething of the artists approach to thelandscape?Land Art is an art movement that began inthe late 60?s, what links are there to thecurrent landscape?Last summer, I travelled around the U.S.for a month and visited the three classicLand Art projects. Lightning Field in NewMexico, by Walter De Maria, Sun Tunnels inUtah, by Nancy Holt and the Spiral Jetty,also in Utah, by Robert Smithson.The sites where visited from half a day upto 24 hours and was described and analyzedwith text and photographs.To visit these sites has been crucial formy thesis and will affect my future workas a landscape architect. The use of themethod has been a thought of mine for along time, particularly to analyze ordescribe a landscape with images.

Av analysen kan Michelle sammanfatta att om hon skulle starta en kvartett i framtiden för till exempel lansering skulle hon ha en kvartett redan färdig och redo för repetition innan start av liknande projekt. Momentet att hitta potentiella medlemmar till stråkkvartetten på så kort tid är orimligt och även om hon hittade medlemmar till kvartetten så skulle det inte hålla i längden. Efter att Michelle fått erfarenhet av personer som inte hållit de muntliga avtal som faktiskt gjordes kommer hon lägga mer tid på att finna rätt personer. Dessutom hade alla de punkter angående mål, promotion och avtal diskuteras med kvartetten detaljerat för att allihop ska få en likvärdig respekt och förståelse i det samarbete som komma skall. Inget bör vara otydligt.

Road transports stand for a great part of Sweden?s total CO2-emissions. Transports are expected to increase over the coming years, and with those the emissions. A greater environmental awareness leads to increased demands for environmentally friendly transport. The aim of this thesis is to study the consequences of changing transportation modes from road to railway.

Objective: The objective of this thesis is to investigate how Scania has attained success to establish on the Indian market and to inquire into the establishment process of Scania and their entrance in the Indian market. The thesis describes different factors such as the product, mode of entry, time of entry and choice of market that play a role when a company establishes and invest in a foreign market.Method: This thesis is limited to the process of establishing Scania on the Indian truck market. A qualitative approach has being utilized in this study, consisting of interviews withStaffan Sjöström, development manager at the R&D department, Koen Knoops, vice president at Financial Services and Henrik Fagrenius, former managing director for Scania in India. Data collection from various journals and articles have been conducted for the presentation of the number of sold newly registered trucks in comparison to the number of sold newly registered trucks in India by Volvo, Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland during 2010, 2011, 2012 and the first three quarters of 2013.Theory: With a starting-point in empirism, we have used a theoretical frame of reference to describe Scania´s establishment process. Scania makes use of an internationalization strategy, namely Market Selection, Time of Entry and Entry mode and the network model, which describes the process of establishing on a foreign market as a business association with various players on the market.

Emhart Glass tillverkar den utrustning som behövs vid tillverkning av glasemballage såsom glasburkar och glasflaskor. Förutom att sälja hela lösningar säljer de även reservdelar. I och med reservdelsförsäljningen har Emhart Glass stora lager och ett stort flöde av inkommande samt utgående gods. Utspridda lagerplatser i företagets byggnad samt flytande lagerplatser gör att företagets önskan om att plocka motorer utifrån FIFO- principen inte kan ske. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att genom kartläggning och analys av det fysiska och administrativa flödet av motorer ta fram en layout som förenklar och förbättrar plockning och spårning.

Approximately 60 million cubic meters of round wood are transported every year with trucks in Sweden and stand for 15 % of all truck transportation in the country. The big amount that is transported results in many haulage companies works in different parts of the country with different conditions to get a good flow on their transports. Today the transport pricing is very general and the payment consists of the unit round wood they are transporting and the distance of the transport. The purpose of this study were, from the freighter and the haulage company?s perspective, try to find ways to change the today applied transport pricing to more differentiated and compare them to historic payment of transportation.

Som ett sista arbete på högskoleingenjörsutbildningen i maskinteknik på Umeå universitet så har jag sett över servicevänligheten på ett reservkraftsaggregat. Attacus Power AB har stått som värd för detta arbete och även tillhandahållit arbetsplats under utförandet.Ett reservkraftsaggregat är ofta en dieseldriven motor kopplad till en generator som alstrar ström. Denna ström kan sedan användas för att driva sjukhus eller liknande vid ett eventuellt strömavbrott.Modellen som skulle ses över heter GTC-200MSS och den är en extra tyst modell avsedd för platser som filminspelningar och liknande där ljudnivån är en viktig faktor.Det jag skulle utföra var att försöka hitta en lösning där motor och generator, med så litet ingrepp som möjligt, kunde tas ut för underhåll.Arbetet började med att olika lösningsförslag togs fram. Allt från att vicka av hela höljet, till en ny utformning av modellen. Efter att alla förslag presenterats och gåtts igenom med inblandade på företaget, så beslutades att en lösning där en truck eller liknande med hjälp av sina gafflar kunna lyfta ut motor och generator var den bästa lösningen.För att göra det enkelt för de som skulle utföra ingreppet så gjordes en enkel manual.En modell togs fram där truckens gafflar legat till grund för utförandet samt dess belastningsfall.

Löslighet och transport av sällsynta jordartsmetaller i Källfallsfältets gruvsandsmagasinHugo de Campos PereiraSyftet med detta arbete har varit att kartlägga vilka mekanismer som styr lösligheten av sällsynta jordartsmetaller (eng. rare earth elements, REE) i sulfidhaltig anrikningssand vid den föredetta gruvan Källfallsfältet i Västmanland. För syftet har markvatten- och grundvattenprovtagning utförts, tillsammans med laktester och geokemisk modellering med Visual MINTEQ ver. 3.0.Resultaten visade att sulfidvittring är den främsta processen som styr pH i anrikningssanden, och därmed också indirekt REEs löslighet. Däremot är sulfidvittring ingen källa till REE i sig då ämnena inte föreligger sulfidbundna, något som oxiderat tillgänglighetstest NT ENVIR 006 visade.

Under 2009 hade jag uppehåll från keramiken och fotade och tecknade mestoch när jag bestämde mig för att slutföra min utbildning på HDK hade jagegentligen inte så stor lust att arbeta i lera längre. Jag ville få ett avslut och enexamen men kände att jag var på väg mot andra material. Nu under arbetetsgång har jag ändå kommit till insikt att jag kan vara keramiker och konst-Materialstudier1. Gjuten i porslin, bränd i 1060gr. 2.

Följande undersökning behandlar ämnet rekrytering med inriktning på kompetensens betydelse vid tillsättning av en tjänst. Vidare redogörs för hur rekryteringsföretag i en mellanstor svensk stad väljer ut individer ur en grupp av arbetssökande och på vilka premisser urvalen sker. Det vill säga om en arbetssökande väljs ut att bli tillsatt för en tjänst på grund av vederbörandes arbetserfarenhet, kunskap och utbildning, eller om det är tack vare dennes personliga egenskaper. Studien ämnar undersöka i vilken utsträckning ansvariga rekryterare värderar arbetssökandes formella kompetenser i förhållande till dess informella kompetenser. Undersökningen kommer också studera den estetiska kompetensens betydelse vid rekrytering.

Problem Discussion: Nissan Diesel became a part of the Volvo Group in the end of March, 2007. A year has passed and the integration process is making progress but it is perceived to lack some momentum. Our sponsor would like to understand if there are any potential barriers to the integration process. (Haspeslagh, et al., 1991) and (Pablo, 1994) presents two different sets of determinants that can be used to decide the level of integration; ?difference in organizational culture? and ?strategic task? (Pablo, 1994) and ?Need for Organizational Autonomy? and ?Need for Strategic Interdependence? (Haspeslagh, et al., 1991).

Syfte ? Studiens syfte är att öka kunskapen om hur fordonstillverkares affärsmodeller påverkas vid förändring av statliga regelverk genom att studera ett framtida införande av HCT i Sverige. HCT, High Capacity Transports, är ett samlingsnamn för lastbilar som är tyngre och/eller längre än vad gällande lagstiftning tillåter. Regelförändringen övervägs för att sänka kostnader och miljöpåverkan. Metod ? Arbetet har genomförts i form av en case-studie.

Government regulations and customs duties restrict the import of trucks to some of the markets to which Scania tries to sell their trucks. The distribution problem due to these regulations is solved by the foreign assembly department, KD, at Scania. This means that competence is needed and costs are added not related to Scania's core operations.The aim of this master thesis has been to analyse and to evaluate alternative ways of managing the packing operations considering cost, quality and work organisation. To study and examine the work methods and operations of today and also to present methods measuring the operations effectiveness and productivity.We have used the system approach to maintain totality and to understand the component's relation to this totality. Field studies combined with studies of relevant literature and studies of other companies operations have given us the knowledge and the understanding of the packing operations needed.

ABSTRACT There is present a lot of focus on animal welfare issues during transport and the related loading and unloading of animals. This thesis is a field study investigating the present situation of beef and dairy farms in Sweden. The predominant reasons stressing cattle when transported to abattoirs are when they are loaded and unloaded on the trucks. The aim of this thesis is to improve the handling and the loading facilities to facilitate the handling and reduce the stress for the animals as well as the personnel. The field study was done by travelling together with the transports from the farm to the abattoir in Uppsala. Three trucks where used and about 60 farms were visited January to March 2003.
