Bakgrund Det finns olika anledningar till intag av kosttillskott, till exempel tas det för att förbättra sin prestation. Försäljningen och intaget av kosttillskott har ökat stadigt de senaste åren. Märkningen är bristfällig, vilket kan leda till att användaren kan få i sig oönskade ämnen.Syfte Studiens syfte var att undersöka användandet av kosttillskott hos gymmedlemmar, deras attityder till kosttillskott, medvetenhet om innehållsförteckning, samt att se om det fanns skillnad i användandet av kosttillskott med avseende på kön, ålder, utbildningsnivå, träningsfrekvens och träningsform.Metod En enkät utformades i Google Documents som lades ut och delades på Facebook, hösten 2014. Totalt besvarades 164 enkäter och analysen gjordes i SPSS Statistics version 21.0. Chitvåtest användes för att testa signifikansnivån.Resultat Drygt hälften (57 %) av tillfrågade respondenter använde kosttillskott i träningssyfte, varav männen i signifikant större utsträckning än kvinnorna intog kosttillskott.

Zambia is a country in Southern Africa where poverty is widespread and the traditional keeping of local poultry therefore plays a crucial role in improving nutrition. Meat and eggs from poultry are important sources of protein but also of income. Improving the poultry production is thereby a method to fight poverty. For poultry, the access to light is an important factor for both growth and egg production. In this paper, the focus is on the traditional village chickens used for both egg and meat production, how they are kept, their health and welfare and if the use of a solar lamp will influence their behaviour, growth and egg production. Three studies were conducted in Chibombo and Choma Districts in Zambia were 17 farmers were interviewed regarding the village chicken management of which six farmers participated in a solar lamp experiment.

Background and problems: All that is stated in social media might not always sometimes be right, which has consequences for the individual's view of the described phenomena. The individual interprets and takes in mass media messages, which can lead to that the wrong information makes believed to be is correct one. The news media?s photo illustrations might pictures result in bad images of the suburbs. Hovsjö, residential area in the city of Södertälje, occurs in the media depicted as is a bad place to live due to the high rate of crime there.Purpose and Issues: My main research question is: How do young people view their residential area Hovsjö in comparison with the image they believe consider is given in that the news media gives the area? Further questions of the study are: How do the young people of the district describe their residential area? How do the youth's react to the news media images of Hovsjö? Has the neighborhood helped to form their identity?Method: In my data collection I have chosen a qualitative approach with observation and semistructured interviews.

Introduction:A good work environment and good resources among district nurses? and general nurses? are important in the provision of good nursing care. For patient security it is also very important that resources and time are used in an appropriate way. A lot of time is spent on non-core activity, for example administration takes more and more time, which can result in feelings of stress.Aim:The aim was to describe how district nurses? and nurses? in primary care perceived their work environment, how their worktime content was distributed and if there was some connection between perceived work environment and the distribution of work time.Methods:A mapping of the content of the work was made in two parts.

Positiva blododlingar odlas på agarplattor och bakterier analyseras med Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation Time-of-flight Mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) där prov blandas med en matrix och sedan bestrålas med laser. Proteinerna i provet joniseras och rör sig mot en detektor, vilket ger ett m/z-spektrum som jämförs med referensspektrum i en databas och ett score-värde erhålls över hur väl analyten liknar referensen. Arbetets syfte var att undersöka möjligheten att direktidentifiera bakterier från blod med en viss preparation innan analys med MALDI-TOF MS och på så vis möjliggöra snabbare preliminära svar samt undersöka möjligheten att särskilja Staphylocoocus aureus och koagulasnegativa stafylokocker. Innan analys med MALDI-TOF MS centrifugerades blod från positiva blododlingar blod i flera steg med 5 % natriumkloridlösning (NaCl-metoden).

In 2012, about 1.3 million boars were surgically castrated, most of them without anaesthesia. Castration is performed to avoid the occurrence of boar taint and aggressive and sexual behaviour. There is a growing concern about the welfare of the piglets and the Swedish Board of Agriculture is working to find efficient and functional alternatives to castration without anaesthesia. The aim of this study was to obtain an overall picture of the latest research about the alternatives to castration without anaesthesia, with focus on vaccination against boar taint, and how they affect the welfare of the pigs. The alternative methods that are available today are surgical castration with anaesthesia and/or analgesia, rearing entire males and vaccination against boar taint.

In this study, we have explored a new area called ?gamification? ? a word and concept that was first introduced on the Internet autumn 2010. Gamification concerns integrating game design, with emphasis on game mechanics and game dynamics, into non-gaming contexts ? such as marketing. At its basic definition, it concerns the process of transforming all kinds of activities into games.

Utbudet och användningen av kosttillskott bland idrottare är stor trots att få vetenskapliga bevis finns gällande positiva effekter eller ökad prestation. Studier har även visat att det finns risker med användning av kosttillskott då det kan påverka hälsa och prestationsförmåga negativt. Orsaker till användandet av kosttillskott bland idrottare anges främst vara i syfte att öka prestation, hälsa, muskelmassa och förebygga sjukdom.Syftet med denna undersökning var att göra en kartläggning över intag av kosttillskott hos idrottare samt att ta reda på vilka attityder de har till användning av kosttillskott. Syftet innefattade även om attityderna påverkade användningen av kosttillskott samt om det fanns olikheter mellan män och kvinnor bland annat gällande åsikter om kosttillskott. Idrottarnas uppfattning om risker vid intag av kosttillskott var en annan aspekt som undersöktes.Enkätundersökningen, där 98 lagidrottande män och kvinnor som spelar i division tre eller högre deltog, visade att 52 procent av idrottarna inte använde kosttillskott.De främsta orsakerna till att de inte använde kostillskott var att de ansåg sig få ett fullgott energi- och näringsintag genom intag av vanlig kost samt att de inte ansåg sig ha tillräcklig kunskap om för- och nackdelar.

ABSTRACT For hundreds of years there has been a tradition with tethered dairy cows in Sweden. The last decades the old fashioned way to hold cows have been questioned and the number of dairy cows in loose housing has been increasing. Last year (2004) 19 percent in total of all farms with milk production in Sweden had their cows in loose housing. Because of EU-legislation concerning all organic production no farms are allowed to build tie stalls any more and after 2010 all organic dairy cows are supposed to live in loose-housing systems. The aim of the thesis was mainly to find out the number of farms with tethered organic dairy cows and if they will continue after the year 2010. Furthermore the purpose was to study if there are any regional differences, how countries similar to Sweden interpret the EU-decision about tethered cows and differences in buildings between organic and conventional farms and the reasons to them.

Bakgrund: Depression ses som en del av ett bipolärt syndrom med depressiva och maniska eller hypomana sjukdomsepisoder eller som ett unipolärt syndrom endast med depressionsepisoder. Fysisk aktivitet definieras som kroppens rörelse skapad av skelettmuskulaturens sammandragning. Den leder till att kroppen gör sig av med energi och har kopplats till att minska depressionsrisken, öka välbefinnandet och bryta isoleringen. Att motivera äldre med depressionssjukdom till fysisk aktivitet är inte helt okomplicerat. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig roll i att integrera fysisk aktivitet i omvårdnaden för denna patientgrupp.

Bakgrund LCHF (Low Carbohydrate, High Fat) är en lågkolhydratskost som fått stort genomslag i Sverige. Svenska Livsmedelverket är oroliga för hur denna utveckling kommer att påverka folkhälsan, framförallt då kolesterolnivåerna i landet under samma period ökat. Förespråkarna av kosthållningen ställer sig däremot frågande till rådande rekommendationer och menar att det är dessa som gör oss feta och sjuka. Trots debatten fattas det data på hur en LCHF-kost faktiskt ser ut.     Syfte Syftet med denna studie var att kartlägga hur en LCHF-kost ser ut gällande livsmedelsval och näringsintag och utifrån det diskutera kosthållningen ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv.Metod 14 individer som ansåg sig äta enligt LCHF rekryterades till att utföra en vägd kostregistrering under tre dagar.

It has been argued that the ?War on Drugs? has done more harm than good and in some American states and a number of European countries the drug have been legalized or decriminalized. Everybody does not agree however, that legalization is the best course of action and in Sweden the emotions have sometimes run high in the discussions taking place in television shows and newspapers.The purpose of this study is to examine the image media portrays of cannabis; based on the theory that mass media is an important influence on the individual and the way in which he or she views the world. To put the result into a context the Swedish media image will be compared with the one in Denmark and Norway.

In order to optimize calf welfare and health it is important to know the behavior of cattle in free ranging conditions. When the cow is about to give birth to a calf she will leave the heard about 12 hours before. It is then rather obvious that isolating the cow about calving time in a single pen is imitating the cows? natural behavior. To save space and minimize building cost it?s common that the farmers build calving pens for four of five cows especially at larger farms.

The dog is unique in the way that the adult weight can vary 100 folds between the different breeds. Despite this, most of the breeds reach adult size before two years of age. For the large-breed dogs this means a very rapid growth when some of them can have a weight gain of up to 150 times their birth weight. The most rapid growth occurs when the puppies are between three to six months old and that kind of rapid growth during such a short period of time makes these large-breed puppies very sensitive to deficits and excesses of energy, nutrients and minerals. Some examples can be excess of energy, excess or deficit of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus or deficits of protein. The rapid growth can also make the large-breed puppies predisposed to some diseases affecting the skeletal and joints.
