Following the accident at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl in 1986, great volumes of137Cs were distributed over large parts of the former Soviet Union and Europe. Over Scotland,radiocaesium was deposited as wet deposition. Due to the relatively long physical half-life of30 years, there are still measurable activity concentrations in the natural environment. Thisstudy was made on two organic soils, Knockandy Hill and Rora Moss, situated in the easternpart of the central highlands of Scotland. At these two sites, studies on migration and transferbetween soil and plants were conducted.

REFERATStudiens syfte är att påvisa utvecklingstrenderna i befolkningens utveckling och sammansättning under perioden 2000-2014. Syftet är också att diskutera denna utveckling utifrån teorier och trender i ett större perspektiv.Studien är kvantitativ och bygger på datamaterial från SCB. Studien är en deskription för hur befolkningsutvecklingen och sammansättningen av ålder och könsbalans ser ut för kommunerna i länet.Resultatet visar att de flesta kommuner har en negativ utveckling och att nästan all befolkningstillväxt sker i Umeå. För samtliga kommuner minskar andelen yngre och andelen äldre blir fler. Åldersstrukturen, könsbalansen och försörjningskvoten skiljer sig kraftigt mellan kommuner.

Uppsatsen undersöker befolkningsförändring sett ur ett migrationsperspektiv under perioden 2000-2009. Studien visar att 145 av Sveriges 290 kommuner under 2000-talet har minskat i befolkning medan 140 kommuner har ökat i befolkning. Det grundläggande pro-blemet uppsatsen belyser är det faktum att 15 av dessa kommuner minskat i befolkning med mer än 10 procent. Utöver detta tillkommer att 29 kommuner haft en befolkningsökning på mer än 10 procent. Utvecklingen orsakar en skevhet i den kommunala organisationen som medför problem ibland annat den kommunala budgeteringen.

Titeln på denna studie är Internalisering av kategoriella par i form utav homosexuella asylsökande. Studiens syfte är att undersöka om och hur föreställningar utifrån ett heteronormativt synsätt, hos handläggaren på Migrationsverket, påverkar asylprövningen av homosexuella. Studien berör hur diskursen i samhället formar föreställningar av den homosexuelle mannen och hur dessa föreställningar blir gällande inom myndighetsutövningen vid Migrationsverket. Studien utgår från teorier av Michel Foucault, samt är kompletterad och avgränsad med hjälp av andra teorier, bland annat Queerteorin. Studien bygger på semistrukturerade intervjuer av sju handläggare vid Migrationsverket, verksamma vid två olika kontor i Stockholm.

Denna uppsats är en kritisk diskursanalys vars syfte är att studera hur begreppet ?barnets bästa? används och tolkas i asylprocessen för ensamkommande barn. Jag har undersökt hur de tjänstemän som fattar beslut om asyl i fall med ensamkommande barn formulerar föreställningar om ?barnets bästa? och hur begreppet förhåller sig till andra begrepp i den diskursiva praktiken. Detta har jag gjort genom att dels analysera de styrdokument som ska ligga till grund för besluten och dels beslut ifrån migrationsverket och domar ifrån  migrationsdomstolarna.

Small hydropower plants have been an important source for electricity for many years. During the 70?s the general thought was that nuclear was the future. Around 2000 small waterpower plants were shut down. It wasn?t profitable to invest in.

This study aims to identify the municipalities of Hallands? methods, guidelines and policies in integration concerning new arrivals of children and teenagers. Some of the new arrivals are under the power of Swedish Migration Board and some of them are by a contract handed over to the municipalities. The evaluation is based on Michael Lipskys street-level bureaucracy which puts its focus on the lower level of bureaucrats meeting with clients. The frame is Skolverkets guideline for education of new arrivals which is more or less a way towards a common policy.

The purpose of this research aims investigate whether front line personell are brand carriers who can affect the customers brand experience. This present study focuses on commercial fitness centers in Kalmar. Like brands, training is taking part in people?s everyday lives; fitness centers are offering the customer a wider range of group training.This thesis is based on a qualitative approach whereby eight interviews have been carried out with two members of the board and six employees of the front line. Additionally, this thesis is also based on three focus groups with four customers, representing the majority of each fitness centers.The research findings highlight that the front line employees are very important as they are seen as the brand; therefore the front line employee?s personality and behaviour will influence the customer?s view of the brand.

Since their invention in 1999, CubeSats have become a widespread standard for small picosatellite missions. CubeSats allow for quick development of satellite payloads and launch in space without the high costs of a normal satellite. Emphasis during the CubeSat design process is placed on use of commercialoff- the-shelf (COTS) components and reuse of previously-designed units.This report describes the interfacing of a scientific magnetometer, the Small Magnetometer in Low-Mass Experiment (SMILE) to such a CubeSat mission, the Space Weather using Ion spectrometers and Magnetometers (SWIM). Design of a complete platform for use in multiple such missions is presented here.Modularity is one of the key aspects followed in the course of the work. A new board containing the analog pick-up and compensation circuitry for SMILE has been designed to fit inside a CubeSat frame.

On board ships different type of maintenance activities take place. Some of those require working with vibrating handheld tools. Traditionally there is a high awareness of the risks with different type of duties such as protecting the skin from oil or other chemicals, the eyes from splashes and hearing from high noise levels. The experience we have from our time as on-board cadets are that there is less information about vibration hazards available compared to the information concerning other hazards on board.There are threshold values that workers, by law, are not allowed to exceed when working with handheld vibrating tools. The purpose of this study is to investigate how common the use of this type of equipment that can cause damage by vibrations, to the hands and arm amongst the deck crew, and if the crew informed about the risks involved.

This case study explores the question of implementation and steering in a society of governance. As an empirical example, a reform concerning the reception of separated refugee children in Sweden is used. As of the 1st of July 2006 the responsibility for providing housing for separated children lies with the local governments rather than with the Swedish Board of Migration, aiming to improve the children's situation. However, implementing this amendment has turned out to be a harder task than expected. Traditionally, the relationship between state and local actors is seen in terms of state steering or local self-government.

Syftet med föreliggande arbete var att få en djupare förståelse för några invandrarkvinnors upplevelse av kriget i hemlandet och de konsekvenser detta förde med sig i det nya hemlandet med tanke på hälsa och sociala relationer. Sju kvinnor som härstammar från Balkanområdet i åldrarna 36-50 deltog i studien. Kvinnorna har bott i Sverige mellan 13 och 18 år. Data insamlades genom en semistrukturerad intervju med fem olika teman: krigsupplevelser, livet i Sverige, hälsa, socialt nätverk och KASAM. Resultatet visade att krigsupplevelserna har förändrat kvinnornas både fysiska och psykiska hälsa negativt.

Södertörn University was built in the suburb of Stockholm to bring hope for students that aren?t used to study. Ever since the university was built there has been a debate on internet message boards such as Flashback and a discourse has developed in the recent five years. The public discourse has had a negative influence on how the university is perceived by the public. The purpose of this study is to analyze how this discourse has developed the image of the university and how it has evolved.

Denna uppsats undersöker samtalet om de mikrolån som dykt upp som fenomen under de senaste åren. Kan dessa på ett bättre sätt bekämpa fattigdom än det traditionella biståndet? Detta utreds genom en litteraturstudie, där material används från statlig utredning, nyhetsmedia (tidningar) och organisationers egna publikationer. Uppsatsen visar att den generella meningen i de texter som undersöks är att mikrolån kan bekämpa fattigdom på ett annat sätt än vad traditionellt bistånd har kunnat. Traditionellt bistånd visar upp ett antal problem såsom risk för korruption, att det kan skapa passivitet och att det inte verkar bekämpa fattigdom på ett effektivt sätt.

Background: The board of directors is a key player in corporate governance. Their role is to ensure that the corporations are run with the interest of the shareholders as the main focus. In the beginning of the 21st century, a survey was made about the confidence of the Swedish business community and in which criticism was directed to the board of directors. The boards were deemed inadequate in their function and were often solely composed by members with similar experiences and competence, therefore lacking in diversity. In order to improve the competence and work of the board of directors, the Swedish code of corporate governance was introduced and its recommendations comprehend the boards? size and composition.
