The purpose of this paper is to investigate how gender and sexuality are made in the videogames Prince of Persia and Fable II, and more specifically to look at possibilities and limitations for the construction of gender and sexuality in these games. I understand videogames as an interactive media form that differs from other types of media like film and literature. It is a media form that depends on a player to be played. At the same time it is constituted by rules of how it can be played. I have analyzed my material by a method called close-playing.

Stockholms vattenskärning AB in Kungsängen has through the acquisition of a company begun to design and produce aircraft heaters whose origin is early 1970s which follows a high inefficiency in terms of energy consumption and size.The aircraft heater, which is sold worldwide, serves its purpose for customer satisfaction and has done so ever since it was developed in the 70s.Stockholms vattenskärning AB is now investigating the possibility in making the aircraft heaters more efficient, both in terms of energy consumption but also on a more efficient design with the belief that it would lead them to an edge in the market. The aircraft heater consists of several main components whose function altogether is to keep passenger aircrafts warm while they are on the ground.This project has been limited to the further development of the heat exchanger package which accounts for the conversion of the hot medium to the fresh air being carried in to the aircraft cabin. Work has been divided into different phases in order to create a better understanding of the project range and to make it easier to divide the various elements in the time available, 10 weeks. These phases are literature review, situation analysis, concept generation, CAD, concept comparison and writing reports.After the initial literature review was made, a fundamental theory was written which is essential in understanding the remaining parts of the project.With the theoretical part as support, measurements and calculations were made on the current heat exchange package in a situation analysis to ensure its operation and efficiency.In the concept generation phase, the collected facts from the literature review was used as the basis for creating a matrix. The purpose of the matrix was to indicate the two most suitable types of heat exchangers to develop four new concepts out of.In the CAD phase the four concepts was drawn up and then described with text and images.The last phase is the concept comparison where a concept selection matrix is used to function as a decision basis for further production at Stockholms vattenskärning AB. The four concepts have been developed based on the current heat exchanger and is gradually changed into a design of a cross-flow heat exchanger constructed out of stainless sections. The purpose of this is to have gradual upgrading of the heat exchanger as an option, in order not to saturate the market..

Kandidatarbetet undersöker och diskuterar frågeställningen "Vilket socialt ansvar har jag som grafisk formgivare i skapandet av skönhetsidealen?". Kandidatarbetet fokuserar på att skapa en diskussion kring ämnet skönhetsideal, hur dessa påverkar unga kvinnor samt vilka möjligheter det finns för att bryta samhällsnormer och göra en förändring, en större skillnad. Utifrån mitt forskringsresultatet kring skönhetshistorian och dess utveckling under åren, har jag skapat en produktion i form av modeillustrationer. Jag tycker inte att samhället inser hur kraftfullt påverkade vi har blivit av media och modebranschen under de senaste åren. Även de som inte är intresserade av mode och skönhet. Vi som jobbar inom medie- och reklambranschen är den tredje statsmakten.

The topic of this master thesis in legal science is state law and constitutional law, or more specific judicalization, with the division of power and thus increased individual legal rights in various forms. Sweden has traditionally had a weak constitutional protection for the individual?s legal rights. The public power has been concentrated to the government and the courts have only played a marginal role. Since the implementation of the European convention of legal rights and with the ever-increasing importance of the legal system of the European Union, the Swedish legal system gone through changes of historical dimensions.This master thesis is based on the legal dogmatic method where laws, preparatory work, case law and doctrines have been systemized.

The purpose of this essay is to study the two cases ?The hijacking of a bus in Årdal? & ?The double murder in Ljungsbro? from media ethics aspects.  The aim for this study is to clear up if the the Swedish newspapers have reported according to the mediaethic rules and to see if there is any differences between the newspapers reporting. The following theories has been used to reach the objective: the journalism task, news values, the liberty of press and speach, media ethical rules and discursive discrimination. The study has used a critical discourse method formed by Teun a. van Dijk to analyse the material, mainly through macro- and microstructures.

This report is an analysis from a gender perspective of more than three hundred minutes in sports broadcasting on SVT and TV4. The study explains how air time is divided between male and female athletes as well as which sports, male or female, get the most air time. The sports are also categorized according to attitudes about the sports being masculine, feminine or neutral. In this way the study also shows the categories of sports that are given the most airtime.Our view before the study was that from a media perspective, the Swedish sports world was very male dominated. The results show that male athletes get more exposure than female athletes on both channels, this despite the fact that the membership of the Swedish sports clubs is fairly evenly divided between men and women. .

Vi lever dagligen i en verklighet som vi faktiskt själv målar upp med våra egna sinnen. Media spelar en stor roll i att lyfta fram den verklighet som vi tar del av. Det är omöjligt som enskild person att befinna sig överallt i världen och ta del av allt så man måste lita på att journalisterna gör ett bra jobb med att leverera sanningen om vad händer runtom i världen. Jag tänkte granska medias roll som maktfaktor. Titta på det problem som kan uppstå när man ska beskriva, hur informationen handskas och vad för stora problem som medier och journalister står inför när de ska beskriva den så kallade verkligheten.

SyfteSyftet med studien var att ta reda på var ifrån gymnasieelever i Stockholm hämtar sin kunskap om vad hälsa innebär. Frågeställningarna var; vad betyder hälsa för eleverna, var får eleverna i gymnasieskolan sin uppfattning om hälsa ifrån och på vilket sätt upplever eleverna att medias bild påverkar deras syn på hälsa? MetodI studiens användes enkätfrågor vilka delvis tar utgångspunkt ifrån KASAM. ResultatHälsa för eleverna innebär att må bra (79 %), vara nöjd med sitt liv (59 %), äta sund och nyttig mat (52 %) och vara vältränad (46 %). 81 % av eleverna undervisas i ämnet idrott och hälsa. Skolan tillsammans med tränare, vänner och familj är elevernas primära kunskapskälla i vad hälsa innebär.

Det finns lite forskning om kvinnliga förövare jämfört med vad det finns om manliga förövare och det verkar även finnas begränsningar i litteratur som kan handleda till exempel poliser och socialsekreterare i ämnet. Detta skulle kunna bero på att kvinnliga förövare utgör en sådan liten andel av det totala antalet förövare så att fenomenet inte uppmärksammas tillräckligt. Studien bygger på en diskursanalys av tidningsartiklar från svensk press i syfte att granska hur media framställer kvinnliga förövare vid sexualbrott mot barn. Resultatet visar att de framträdande diskurserna är offerdiskurs, förövardiskurs och kunskapsdiskurs och att bilden av kvinnliga förövare konstrueras på olika sätt samt att detta skapar olika gestaltningar av verkligheten. Media har en viktig roll i hur en bild förmedlas och uppmärksammas samt stor makt när det gäller hur en diskurs rekonstrueras eller reproduceras.

Purpose ? The purpose of the study was to examine how to promote a personal trainer in the fitness industry, as a personal brand, with digital media.Method ? To fulfill the purpose, the author have used three different methods. Both literature and quantitative and qualitative data in forms of a digital survey and interviews with two personal trainers regarding marketing and branding.Result ? Based on the collected literature and empirical evidence, facts could identify the importance of having a strong brand as a personal trainer, in order to recruit new clients. The result revealed that digital media is an excellent communication channel to nurture the relationship when you already have existing clients, but not when you want to recruit new customers.Implications ? This study is only developed through empirical data from a particular demography and a certain range, which could give a different result with other respondents.

Given the turbulent situation in the Swedish media industry few researchers have turned towards the view of the situation from the perspective of the journalist who is in many ways under pressure. This study therefore aims to take this perspective by combining recent research in the media field with proven theories in the field of motivation. Through deep interviews with eight journalists active in the general news reporting area, the most important factors in terms of their motivation have been suggested and analyzed. There is a distinction between different types of motivation including intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. The intrinsic factors include investigational journalism and the social part of doing research.

De olympiska spelens invigningsceremonier är till brädden fyllda med symboler, tecken och myter som alla syftar till att konstruera nationella identiteter och -narrativ. Ofta hämtas dessa symboler och tecken ur populärkulturen. Jag har semiotiskt försökt analysera dessa tecken för att se på vilka sätt värdländernas nationella identiteter porträtteras. Jag har också valt att analysera detta utifrån teorier om media events som tv-genre. De sekvenser jag har valt att studera har visat på att nationens narrativ i stor utsträckning konstrueras för att gagna socialt dominerande grupper och befästa maktpositioner..

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine the accessibility and barriers of public libraries to intellectual and mentally disabled children and young people. This we will do by examining whether the library staff acts according to policies of the libraries. Our method has been qualitative interviews with library staff and we have also observed the environment, media and marketing of these libraries. As a theoretical starting point of the analysis we use Michael Buckland?s different aspects of access to information.

Den senaste tiden har klimatförändringarna fått mycket utrymme i tidningar, tv och radio. Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka vilken påverkan denna klimatdebatt har haft på publiken, om det har fått någon effekt på konsumentens syn på kopplingen till klimatpåverkan. För att göra detta tittar vi på bilens påverkan, och om klimatdebatten har påverkat inställningen vid köp av ny bil.För att svara på detta gås först relevanta teorier kring medias makt, konsumtion och privatbilism igenom. Bilden är att konsumtion och bilism inte drivs av rationalitet utan att det har blivit en viktig del av självbilden, de har fått en ny betydelse som symbol. Det finns också en tydlig koppling mellan ett ämne som får mycket utrymme i media, och vilken fråga som den allmänna opinionen klassar som viktig.Sedan presenteras klimatdebatten i Aftonbladet och Dagens Nyheter för att se vilken bild publiken har fått.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine whether or not the publiclibraries under review can make use of Frans Melin?s strategicbranding platform to create or strengthen their brands by meansof their programme activities. The study addresses two issues;how are the programme activities relevant to the way librariescan work with their brands, and what potential do these librarieshave to create and/or reinforce their brands through programmeactivities?The empirical material has been obtained through qualitativeinterviews structured around Melin?s platform. This has alsobeen used to discuss and analyse the results.
