Being an architect I create spaces with roof, walls and fl oor. The availability of the essential materials to create such spaces is practically unlimited. The materials also play a significant part to the character of the created space. I hope to contribute to the general understanding of materials as elements in the design of urban spaces by having intensely explored one specific material in depth, pointing out its bad and good qualities. I am of the opinion that the reason for choosing a material shouldn?t be because of a shortage of knowledge, facts or references, but what character you want for the room. When travelling across Europe, it sometimes feels like clay paving is everywhere, but back in Sweden it is almost unseen of in modern landscape architecture.

There is a settled stereotype for women and men which give them different possibilities in our society. The schools, which are one of the most important sources of knowledge, have a great possibility to influence. This is the reason why we are interested in how the schools are working with a project, which we will call X henceforth. What was the purpose with the project and what does it contain? What is missing in the former education, since the project was started? Are there any obstacles or prerequisite in the design of the project or in the school teaching on the basis of X? We have done interviews in the gathering of empirical material to find out all the answers to our questions.

Detta är en studie om hur man kan informera yrkesgrupper som i sitt arbete är i rörelse. Studien är avgränsad till yrkesgruppen lagerarbetare på lagerarbetsplatser med 50-100 anställda och ger ett förslag till hur man skulle kunna informera denna yrkesgrupp om arbetsrätt och arbetsmiljö. Studien baseras på en kvalitativ metod utförd med hjälp av intervjuer på två olika lagerarbetsplatser i Stockholm, Sverige. Samt genom analyser av befintliga material och liknande material som finns idag. Studien avslutas med ett gestaltningsförslag till hur detta material skulle kunna se ut och en diskussion över problematiken med ämnet och de val som gjorts i studien..

Jag har genomfört en undersökning där jag har observerat klassrummets fysiska miljö med fokus på dess möblering och utbud av material. Genom att observera två klassrum har jag försökt få en förståelse för hur klassrummets möblering och utbud av material kan gynna elevers lärande och kunskapsinhämtning. Min undersökning är genomförd utifrån forskningsfrågorna; - Hur är klassrummet möblerat? - Vilket material erbjuds eleverna? - Hur använder sig eleverna av materialet och möbleringen?Jag har utgått från ett interaktionistiskt och ett sociokulturellt perspektiv och använt mig av begreppen aktiviteter, interaktioner och verktyg. Förutom det sociokulturella perspektivet har jag även relaterat och jämfört mina resultat till den forskning som tidigare har gjorts på samma område.Det resultat jag har analyserat och diskuterat kring grundar sig på de fältanteckningar jag skrev i samband med observationen samt fotografier från klassrummen.

Examensarbetets målsättning var att studera de materialrörelser som uppkommer i direkt anslutning till stranden genom påverkan av fartygsvågor. Intressant var just att studera sådant material som Daleke et al (1989) finner en överensstämmelse med ? mellan sina iakttagelser och en felaktig version av Hjulströmskurvan ? men även annat material skulle studeras. Arbetet utfördes i Furusundsleden och i farleden vid Lidingö där trafiken av Finlandsfärjor är tät.I farleder som till vattenvolym är begränsade uppstår kraftiga vattenrörelser, sugeffekter förutom de vanliga svallvågor som bryter mot stranden. Dessa båda typer av vattenrörelser påverkar materialet längs stränderna..

Den här uppsatsen behandlar frågeställningenhur gymnasieelever idag förhåller sig till hemslöjdsrörelsens tradition och syn på material i förhållande till hantverk? Syftet med undersökningen är att lyfta fram och diskutera hur dagens ungdomar förhåller sig till material i jämförelse med den tradition som vuxit fram ur det sena 1800-talets hemslöjds- och sociala reformrörelser. Genom litteraturstudier inom området lyfter undersökningen fram tankegångar om på vilket sätt hemslöjdsrörelsens estetik och därmed förhållande till material, kunnat vinna ett mer allmänt utbrett anseende. I ett designpedagogiskt projekt som tar avstamp i etnologen Charlotte Hyltén-Cavallius teorier om hur hemslöjdsrörelsen värderar olika material, är arbetets avsikt att undersöka i vad mån dessa ideal än i dag präglar gymnasieelevers förhållningssätt till material.Insamlingen av empiriskt material till undersökningen har skett med etnografisk metod i samband med det designpedagogiska projektet, den praktiska undersökningen. Observationer, fältanteckningar, fotodokumentation och samtal har fungerat som hjälpmedel för studien.

Mitt projekt har handlat om att go?ra ett tillga?ngligt material av barnmusikalen Aldrig Ensam (Petersson 2011) som jag skrev i en tidigare projektkurs. De handskrivna noterna har skrivits i Sibelius notprogram och bildar tillsammans med manus ett kompendium. Earlier attempts at mechanising pre-commercial thinning have been met with varying degrees of success. Most attempts have been based on techniques where residual stems are straddled. Early treatment is essential to limit damage on residual trees. One part of the present study is an evaluation of mechanised pre-commercial thinning using the new Vimek 404R. Vimek 404R is a fairly small machine that permits selective removal of stems, making it potentially suitable also for areas overdue for pre-commercial thinning. The study established the level of performance for the machine, as well as the improvement needed to make it an economically viable option.

The purpose of this Bachelor degree project is to design different types of services that can increase the amount of re-used timber within the building sector and by that means improve their environmental efforts. By examining how the sectors environmental work concerning recycling and re-using timber as a building material is getting on at present, conclusions have been drawn about what further could be done for improvement.The project has shown that there is a scarcity of information and statistics within the sector, but that there are efforts in progress to change this. Questionnaires have been sent to a number of companies working with demolition and utilizing re-usable materials in order to find out what kind of problems there are within the trade. Unfortunately the survey gave insufficient result due to the low reply frequency.It is obvious that active environmental work within the building sector is important and the knowledge acquired while working with the project has led to the design of three suggestions for services regarded as being of interest for improving the negative environmental impact caused by the sector:Suggestion 1 ? Sale of construction parts prior to the demolition of a buildingSuggestion 2 ? Re-utilization circulation when manufacturing buildingsSuggestion 3 ? The author is active as a musician in the field of historically informed performance practice (HIP) which emanated from the 20th century early music movement. Studying of historical sources has a central role, but the problem of how interpretation and selection of source material is affected by art and music ideals of our time, is commonly acknowledged. Georg Joseph Vogler shows in a series of articles in "Betrachtungen der Mannheimer Tonschule" (1778-1781) how Stabat Mater by Pergolesi could, and in his opininon, should be improved. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how this source can be used from the standpoint of a performing musician: How can I use Vogler?s methods in my playing?The introduction problematizes Vogler?s action in relation to his time, and to ours.

Wood pellets are an upgraded product of residuals from several wood processing industries, for example saw mills and pulp industries. The pellets are produced by pressing the milled and dried sawdust to cylindrical units with a higher density than the initial raw material. Pellets have great benefits compared to the raw material: high energy per volume, good transport and storage properties and homogeneity. Several parameters collaborate in the whole process, which makes it complex. Wood is a heterogeneous material, chemically and structurally dependent on wood parts, habitat and storage procedures.

ABB Capacitors Ludvika started their LEAN-project in november 2010, but still has not the whole factory been introduced to the LEAN-tool called 5S. 5S is only implemented on the ?easiest? work-areas.By implementing 5S, at the workingstation called inburkningen, would make the workstation and the area around it much more structured, clean and systematized. The operators are a little bit skeptical to the work that includes continuous improvement today, because they can not see any progresses. If 5S were implememted the operators would be able to avoid searching for tools because with 5S, each tool will have a specified place at the workstation.5S would simplify the cooperation between the shifts, because 5S includes clear instructions for how the workstations will be cleaned after each shift.This report will include my recommendations, thoughts and opinions regarding however ABB Capacitors Ludvika should implement or not implement the LEAN-tool 5S.

Background: The majority of nurses experience work relatedstress, which can lead to a negative impact on patient care. Thestress can be handled by coping strategies.
