Dagens samhälle är ett informations- och kunskapssamhälle där kunskap och kompetens är nyckeln till företags framgång. En förändring har skett i näringslivet då de tillverkande företagen har blivit allt färre och de kunskapsbaserade företagen har ökat. För att kunna överleva i det nya samhället måste ledning och anställda i ett kunskapsbaserat företag ständigt utveckla sina kunskaper, sitt humankapital. Humankapitalet är den mest värdefulla tillgången i ett kunskapsbaserat företag då företaget är beroende av de anställdas kompetens och kreativitet. Därför är det viktigt att dessa företag tar tillvara på och förädlar sitt humankapital.

We have produced a process mapping and from there developed a document management plan for the research service at the Labour Movement Archives and Library (ARAB) in Stockholm, Sweden. The project was conducted during five weeks in the spring of 2011 at ARAB and the resulting classification structure and document plan has been formulated and presented to the staff at a seminar. We found that the institution in some cases were suffering from an inadequate documentation in a number of the identified processes, and also in their records management and archiving. In this additional memorandum follows an analyzing discussion of activity-based document- and archive management, e-archives and process mapping. We have accordingly tried to standardize the process of research services and contribute to a more adequate document management within the institution.

This work is an experimental study where knock sensor placements are investigated using engine tests. The aim is to studythe quality of the signal from knock sensors and how the signal for engine control is affected at different sensor locations on Scanias, engine DC13. To find out at witch position on the engine youcan get a usable signal for engine control, the engine is running while the knock sensors with advanced measurement equipment is connected to the engine. Evaluation of signals from the knock sensors are made in the computer program Matlab. The program is producing a seriesof plots, from these plots it is visually possible to draw conclusions and find connections.

Syfte: Att studera och analysera hur implementeringen av balanserat styrkort går till i två verksamheter med avseende på information, dialog och delaktighet. Metod: Vi har använt oss av semistandardiserade personliga intervjuer på lednings-, facklig och individnivå, i två tillverkande företag. Det material som vi erhållit ligger till grund för vår analys och våra slutsatser som vi har arbetat med utifrån vår problemdiskussion. Slutsatser: I de två tillverkande företagen vi studerade lades ingen vikt vid delaktigheten hos de anställda vid införandet av balanserat styrkort. Bristen på delaktighet skapade dålig eller ingen acceptans till förändringen. Detta i sin tur minskade engagemanget och motivationen hos de anställda och resultatet blev inte det ledningen förväntade sig.

This paper replicates a test performed by Burgstahler and Dichev (1997), which identifies a kink in the frequency distribution of earnings for companies listed on American stock exchanges. Their claim, that the kink is evidence of earnings management, has however been dismissed as a methodical consequence. To address this concern, this paper not only replicates the test in general, but also performs tests on a split sample, where founding family-owned companies are separated from the others, since earlier research has shown that founding family ownership is correlated with less earnings management. The results are in line with the findings of Burgstahler and Dichev, with a significant kink in the frequency distribution in the general test. The findings also show that the significance of the kink increases in the non-family-owned sample, while it disappears in the family-owned sample.

This report is part of an Bachelor of Science work in forestry, conducted for the community of Borås, Sweden. In order to create a forest management plan for the area of Hestra, a survey was conducted. People living in the area were given the opportunity to reply to the survey. The questions in the survey are both personal and forestry-related. The aim is to reach out to the different categories of people when it comes to age, living and the different aspects of visiting the woods.

The Telecom industry is facing a paradigm shift, where the industry is converging with Internet technologies and the market is becoming more sophisticated. This results in more demanding customers, and the need for offering more content and services with a focus on usability for the end-users. The operators are starting to loose both their strong position and revenue in the Telecom industry, due to new technology and the fact that other actors are starting to enter the market, offering new content and services. In the end, the operators have two choices, to become bit-pipe providers, and only focusing on network management, or keeping the control over their networks. Previous research in the area of leadership and stress has shown that the leader plays an important role but in what way is still an issue to explore. A qualitative approach was used in this study to develop an increased understanding of the leader's experience of stress using four themes; leadership, stress, control and organizational factors. A total of 12 semi-structured and un-structured interviews were carried out with 6 leaders, three females and three males. The data was transcribed and thematic as well as narrative analysis was conducted.The results indicates that leadership stress is caused by a lack of control and that factors intrinsic to the role as a leader both facilitates and complicates the leaders situation when facing stress..

Skillnaden i bedömning och uppföljning av kompetensutveckling och materiella investeringar ligger i graden av kvantifierbarhet. Materiella investeringar som maskiner, kan oftast bedömas och följas upp genom objektiva metoder, medan kompetensutveckling kräver subjektiva metoder. I de företag vi studerat finns en ambition att finna en mer objektiv metod för kompetensutveckling men det anses ta för mycket resurser i anspråk relaterat till den nytta som eventuellt skulle uppstå. En annan faktor som vi fann var att i den dynamiska miljö företagen verkar är det inte motiverat att utvärdera kompetensutveckling eftersom det anses vara en färskvara. Miljön företagen verkar i och själva syftet med kompetensutvecklingen påverkar också om man ska anse kompetensutveckling vara en investering eller inte.

I vår produktion har vi tagit fram ett system för order- och lagerhantering, med vikt på realtidsuppdateringar, åt en extern mottagare där infrastrukturen inte hängt med i företagets utveckling. Vi valde detta projekt i syfte att bredda våra kunskaper inom både programmering och projekthantering. Denna slutreflektion tar upp den förundersökning vi gjorde för att kunna besluta om vilka verktyg vi använde i utvecklingen, den tar även upp vårt sätt att hantera och planera projektet. We chose this project in order to broaden our knowledge in both programming and project management. Uppsatsen syftar till att studera hur verksamhetsstyrningen på fyra utvalda företag ser ut i goda och dåliga tider. Vi har använt oss av ett kvalitativt angreppssätt genom ställda enkätfrågor till chefer samt en chefsrekryterare. Angreppsättet är även abduktivt då vi växlar mellan empiri och teorier. De utvalda företagen är placerade i Brandingers modell över planeringssituationer för att sprida dem enligt kriterierna "föränderliga affärsförutsättningar" och "lätthet att förändras". Vi har kommit fram till ett antal hypoteser som visar på tendenser att mer förändringsbenägna företag förändrar sin verksamhetsstyrning i större utsträckning.

The management of information is one of the key aspects within a successful andefficient product development process, particularly regarding complex products.Scania CV AB is at the moment developing a new IT-system, OAS, which aims tomanage the company?s product data. With this as a background, the purpose of thismaster thesis is to identify the cross-functional user needs within Scania?s organizationconcerning product data and the management around it.To fulfill the purpose, an empirical study consisting of 40 personal interviews with 50representatives from different functions within Scania?s organization was carriedthrough. The empirical data was then analyzed focusing on identifying thecross-functional needs and issues.The study points out that there is a big potential regarding improvement among themanagement of product data.
