?A culture center should be visually welcoming as well as attract a diverse range of visitors with different backgrounds.? This was the client?s request for a new cultural center in Nairobi. The location is in the heart of Nairobi?s industrial area, near several existing buildings that are already in use by the culture organization known as Go Down. I have chosen to keep most of the existing buildings and to use my new building as a complement for the desired program.

Research concerning movement patterns of wild animals has been advancing since GPS technology arrived. But studying the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is still difficult because of the harsh territory it inhabits in Central Asia. This study took place in south Gobi, Mongolia, and aimed to estimate the time spent at kills and the maximum distance away from kills between visits. Snow leopards were monitored with GPS collars that took a location every five or seven hours. Potential kill sites were established by identifying clusters of GPS-locations in ArcGIS and visited in the field for confirmation.

This study explores Environmental Storytelling techniques and whether these can beused in combination with each other to lead a player through a game scene in aspecific pattern, affect the player?s narrative and exploratory view and explorewhether Self-paced Exploration can be combined with these techniques.It is a qualitative study conducted by six gaming sessions with accompanyinginterviews in which six people get to play one of three versions of the same gamescene. The only differences between the scenes are the different guidance techniquesused. The informants' movement patterns are identified and interviews recorded byaudio, as well as screen recording. The results shows that Environmental Storytellingtechniques can very well be used to control the player's exploration patterns, bothnarratively and navigation purposes and Self-paced Exploration can be utilized to agreater efficiency in combination with these..

Suspensory ligament injuries are a common cause of lameness among sport horses. These injuries are expensive due to slow healing, extensive convalescence and high risk of recurrence. The prognosis has been reported to be everything from good to guarded depending on the size of the lesion and the location within the suspensory ligament. The purpose of this study was to determine how different factors such as age, use, and location of the lesion are associated with the final outcome after a suspensory ligament injury. Material: Hospital records of 27 horses treated for suspensory ligament injuries at SLU equine hospital in Skara, Sweden, between January 2002 and July 2003 were examined retrospectively.

Several public libraries are displaying media, such as literature, on the websites of their own. The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to make a survey of the display phenomenon at Swedish public libraries. Therefore the authors of this essay seek to understand why media is being displayed on the websites of public libraries, how it is being displayed and what kind of consequences the displaying will provide according to the respondents. The theoretical framework is based on different theories where marketing and availability defines the equal summary.

Syftet med detta arbete är att, utifrån en fallorganisation, undersöka och belysa premisser försäsongsanställda reseledares arbete och arbetsuppgifter. Därutöver vill vi specifikt fokuseraoch analysera, om och i så fall hur, erfarenheter, lärdomar och kunskaper ges utrymme iorganisationen och hur dessa sprids och ges legitimitet.Arbetet tar sin utgångspunkt i en kvalitativ fallstudie bestående av åtta halvstruktureradedjupintervjuer och en deltagandeobservation. Den studerade fallorganisationen är enresearrangör som säljer paketresor med en omfattande personlig service och har under mångaår varit ledande på marknaden. Fallorganisationens filosofi uppges vara att alltid tillföra någotextra till resenären, och att ge gästerna mer för pengarna.För att förstå den insamlade empirin användes begreppen empowerment och storytelling.Genom empowerment kunde engagemanget hos organisationens reseledare och hur dettaengagemang påverkade deras vilja att dela lärdomar och erfarenheter emellan sig tydliggöras.På vilket sätt själva delandet och informationsöverföringen skedde blev tydligt genomstorytelling. Med hjälp av Ellströms (2005) teorier om utvecklingsinriktat och reproduktivtlärande blev också typen av lärande tydligt och hur denna kan relateras till empowerment ochstorytelling.Studien fann att reseledarna inom fallorganisationen kände sig stärkta i sitt utförande avarbetet på grund av det självstyre som organisationen öppnade upp för.

Allt började med att vi fick ett uppdrag av ägarna på Treehotel som ville ha hjälp med att utveckla vissa delar av sin verksamhet. Vi bestämde tillsammans med dem att vi skulle fokusera på Victoriastigen, den transportsträcka som idag leder hotellgästerna upp till trädrummen, och hjälpa dem att utveckla denna med hjälp av upplevelseproduktion. Vårt syfte med studien är således att med storytelling som verktyg och teori från upplevelseproduktion utveckla Victoriastigen för att förstärka helhetsupplevelsen av ett besök på Treehotel. De metoder vi använt oss av är kvalitativa intervjuer samt egna reflektioner och vi har utifrån dessa metoder fått fram ett resultat som svarar mot våra forskningsfrågor. Vi har med utgångspunkt i en interaktiv metod med våra uppdragsgivare samt konklusionerna av vårt resultat sedan skapat konceptförslag för Victoriastigen.

This examination paper is a lead in the educational program Industrial Management at Jönköping University. The paper itself contains an analysis of the warehouse organisation and its efficiency at the furniture company Voice AB in Torsvik, just south of Jönköping, Sweden. The report also contains propositions to raise the level of efficiency in the company warehouse and warehouse management.In the investigation of the warehouse a number of possible improvements were found. Examples are lack of a system for labelling shelves and racks, lack of an efficient location system and development possibilities in work routines. For the empirical investigation both qualitative and quantitative methods ware used.

Ystad har under lång tid varit en populär turistdestination för svenska och utländska besökare. Staden med dess omnejd har genom den fina miljön och dess historiska byggnader goda förutsättningar att attrahera turister till regionen. Efter filmatiseringarna av Henning Mankells romaner om kriminalkommissarie Kurt Wallander, som utspelas i Ystad, har antalet turister ökat än mer till regionen. Förhållandet mellan böcker och filmer är en väsentlig del av den turism som uppstår efter en berättelse om en fiktiv karaktär i en existerande miljö. Vi ville följaktligen undersöka film- litteraturturism och dess påverkan på en plats.

Upplevelseplan för Öckerö Resort lyder underrubriken på denna uppsats. Öckerö Resort är ett kommande resort nära Göteborg som förhoppningsvis inom kort ska öppna portarna för gästerna. Tanken bakom namnet upplevelseplan ligger i fokuset på upplevelser, därav upplevelseplan och inte marknadsplan eller affärsplan. Tre huvudteman kommer vara fundamentet i denna uppsats, som också kommer att genomsyra alla olika delar i uppsatsen. Storytelling, Värdskap och Upplevelseekonomi ska i slutet mynna ut i konkreta förslag på hur Öckerö Resort kan jobba för att tillfredsställa kunden. Upplevelseekonomi växer i vårt samhälle.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how students who study with Problem-based learning PBL in a distance learning course perceive the support from the university library. I first went into adult education, PBL and distance studies, one at a time, and then took a look at the combination of problem-based learning in distance studies. During the investigation, I conducted five interviews using a phenomenographic method to understand how the students perceived the support they received from the university library. The university library gives a lot of support but what I noticed while I was writing was that it is difficult to reach the students with the information regarding the help that is available to them. I give some example on how to develop the support and find that the students have a wide range of different needs for support from the library depending on their individual situation, social context, academic ability, location and course of study.

The trend towards increasingly large farming units raises questions regarding how to better monitor production. Larger units make the impact from possible errors more severe, which increases the pressure on management supervision. To cope with management issues, prevent errors and handle increased demands on traceability and documentation, the Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) concept is making its way into various parts of agriculture. In sectors outside agriculture, RTLS are already being used successfully to track and locate items through nodes at different levels of accuracy, such as room level or the relative or absolute position. Empirical data can be received in real time from the nodes.

Syfte/ Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur artister använder sig av storytelling som ett verktyg i sitt varumärkesbyggande. Vi har studerat i vilka former historieberättande yttrar sig och vilka berättartekniska byggstenar som ligger till grund för historier inom musikindustrin. Följande frågeställning har utgjort grunden för studien; Hur använder sig artister av storytelling som ett verktyg i sitt varumärkesbyggande?Metod Studien bygger på textanalys i form av en fallstudie. Med en begränsning av två olika fall - Lady Gaga och Rolling Stones ? har vi valt att samla in relevant data i form av textmaterial såsom musikvideor, fotografier, intervjuer, dokumentärer och presentationstext.

Storytelling is a complex action that requires many linguistic and other cognitive abilities, like memory and attention. Resent research has shown a correlation between oral story retelling and picture arrangement among children with neurodevelopmental disorders. The present study analyzes if this correlation exists among a convenience sample of children from the general population. 77 children between 3:11 and 9:0 years old accomplished Bus Story Test and a picture arrangement task from WISC III. Significant correlations was found between picture arrangement and Bus Story Test?s subscores sentence length, subordinate clauses and information.

This paper examines the function of narrative discourse in television talk shows. Basing our analysis on five episodes of the Swedish talk show Skavlan, we illustrate how narratives are initiated and elaborated by the participants of the show. The analysis shows that the institutional roles are challanged and that the roles vary between the host ant the guests. The analysis also shows that when guests introduce and elaborate stories they use the same discursive actions and resources as the host. When participants enter an actvie role in their storytelling the hos takes a more restrained role in which he lets the the conversation evolve spontaneously.
