During 2006 an estimated number of 150 persons are supposed to have been killed in road accidents caused by speed limit violations. Through Automatic traffic security control (ATK) the Swedish road administration (Vägverket) is working towards lowering the number of speed related accidents. By placing the speed cameras on roads they've managed to lower the average speed at those places. The enlargement of the number of speed cameras is based upon knowledge about for example how high the risk is for speed related accidents on the roads. The speed cameras always measure the speed in which every vehicle passes, but aren't constantly activated to register speed violations.

This thesis has been carried out in collaboration with two students at the Department of Dental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The aim of this project was to construct a computerized decision support system to facilitate diagnosis of changes in the Oral Mucosa using information collected by the above mentioned students. A program which poses specic questions to the user was constructed with the Java programming language. Depending on how these questions were answered, one or more possible diagnoses were presented by the program. In order to conclude whether or not this program was of any use in terms of time savings, a series of tests were run and timed both when using the program and when not.

Syftet med denna förstudie var att hitta en ny arbetsmetod för Argentum Group samt att hitta ett sätt att få in mer testning i det dagliga arbetet. Det primära syftet var att undersöka om detta kunde ske via automatisering av tester samt om det skulle vara lönsamt. Genom intervjuer, en enkät samt observationer på Argentum skapade jag mig en bild av de behov som jag anser fanns och därefter undersökte jag agila metoder som Scrum, RUP, Kanban, Lean Software Development, eXtreme Programming (XP) med flera och fann att Kanban, Scrum samt XP var intressanta för Argentum. Argentum önskade även att få rekommendationer om hur deras testning bör förbättras varav jag utarbetade ett förslag på projektprioriteringar, samt vilka krav dessa prioriteringar ställer på en utvecklare. När det gäller systemtestning bör Argentum börja använda sig av testfall till alla projekt.

Sammanfattning Fel i programvara (buggar) kostar ofantliga summor varje år. I detta arbete presenteras en metod där programexekveringsmiljön utan vare sig programmerarens eller användarens inblandning utförligt kan rapportera och dölja effekterna av en avsevärd andel buggar. Genom att kompilatorn eller tolken tillåter att en och samma procedur implementeras hur många gånger som helst införs ett helt automatiskt stöd för N-Version Programming (NVP) omedelbart i programspråket. Tekniken gör programvaran feltolerant och blir ett komplement till kostsam och ofta bristfällig testning. En tolk utvecklades för ett programspråk som tillåter multipla definitioner av procedurer. Därmed har det inbyggt stöd för feltolerans genom redundans på procedurnivå. Ett experiment genomfördes där nio programmerare oberoende av varandra implementerade 12 utförligt specificerade procedurer.

The thesis aims at describing how culture is produced and reproduced at IF Friskis&Svettis Stockholm, a Swedish non-profit training association. Syftet med arbetet var att ta reda på om den ökade tidsåtgången som parprogrammeringen leder till uppvägs av de fördelar som den genererar i jämförelse med enskild programmering där arbetet delas mellan två programmerare och sedan integreras. I arbetet presenteras resultatet från en enkätundersökning som sju personer från fyra olika företag i Sverige har besvarat. Samtliga personer som besvarat enkäten har arbetat både med enskild programmering och parprogrammering. Vårt arbete bidrar till forskningsområdet programvaruteknik som intresserar sig för mjukvaruutvecklingsmetoder. På senare tid har detta forskningsområde också intresserat sig för lättrörlig mjukvaruutveckling där utvecklingsmetoden Extreme Programming (XP) ingår. This thesis has treated a three-axis robot which task is to serve a larger test machine tomove the modules to be tested, from the storage to the test site. The robot is composed ofthree linear actuators; two standard components of ball screw type and a custom-builtactuator of trapezoidal type. The work has mainly focused on the custom-built device to seeif it could be replaced with a standard component. Part of the work has been to look into thepicking tool and to see if there are any possibilities to improve its function.The report presents two different proposals which I decided to call Robot 1 and Robot 2 andthey aim to address the problems arising in the purpose-built linear unit and the X-axislinearity problems. Robot 1 focuses on eliminating the problems that arise around therobot's X-axis, with such simple means as possible and without making excessive materialchanges.

The association between disclosure level and asymmetric information is a matter of importance andconsiderable interest to the financial reporting community. The theory in this area suggests that acommitment by a firm to increased levels of disclosure should lower the information asymmetry thuslowering the cost of equity. In supporting an efficient way to gather and develop contact information for the Uppsala Association of Technology Physicist alumni, it is crucial to have in place an adequate and user-friendly system allowing the continuous collection and storage of such contact information. This can achieved by the creation of a website where alumni can enter information about themselves and where such information in turn is stored in a database. A database containing relevant tables has been developed in MySQL. In utilizing phpMyAdmin, the programming language PHP and Web Server Apache, a fully functional website to be included on the Association's website has been created..

In order to reduce the cost of wages industrial companies are now considering moving the manufacturing to low-cost countries. To keep up with the competition in the market without moving the manu- facturing abroad, Lean Automation was developed. The concept of Lean Automation is to reduce the perceived complexity with automa- tion and make automation available for new users and in new applica- tions.Haldex Brake Products are situated in Sweden and want to maintain the manufacturing of the automatic brake adjusters in the country. It is a product well-known and highly exposed to the competition in the mar- ket.

 This paper discusses whether the allocation of Swedish aid is dependent on absolute or relative poverty, and whether there is any difference in this respect between ODA and aid distributed through officially funded NGO?s. Given the Millennium Development Goals, and their overarching goal of halving extreme poverty by 2015, we should expect the aid allocation to be determined by absolute rather than relative poverty. We use OLS to estimate multiple linear regressions. We find that Swedish ODA has an absolute poverty focus, while the Swedish NGO aid rather seems to be concentrated on relative poverty. .

Examensarbetet har sin ansats i utvecklingsmetoder närmare bestämt den lättrörliga utvecklingsmetoden Extreme Programming (XP). Beståndsdelen i en utvecklingsmetod är människorna, deras erfarenheter och kunnande samt deras förmåga att skapa idéer och lösa problem såväl enskilt som tillsammans. Utan nödvändig kompetens inom utvecklingsteamen ökar risken att utvecklingsprojekten misslyckas eller försenas. Syftet med detta arbete är att utifrån intervjuer med systemutvecklare undersöka vilka nödvändiga kompetenser som är nödvändiga för att XP skall kunna användas på ett effektivt sätt, även att uppmärksamma vilka problem som kan uppstå då den sociala kompetensen saknas. Metoden som har använts för att undersöka vilka faktorer som är nödvändiga i avseende till kompetenser är baserad på en kvalitativ ansats.

Fjärrvärmebranschen i Sverige har sedan mitten av 1990-talet varit i en stagnationsfas, där mängden producerad och förbrukad energi i stort sett varit konstant, trots stora investeringar i fjärrvärmenätet. Samtidigt har den höga andelen återvinning gjort att det råder brist på avfallsbränsle till energiåtervinning i Sverige. I kombination med hög konkurrens om avfallsbränslet har detta medfört att aktörerna på marknaden tvingats se sig om efter nya vägar att tillfredsställa behovet av bränsle, vilket lett till att det idag importeras stora mängder avfall för energiåtervinning från utlandet. Vid Vattenfalls fjärrvärmeverk i Uppsala har det mellan åren 2006-2013 återvunnits i snitt drygt 360 000 ton avfall per år. En stor del av detta hämtas in från lokala kunder, både kommuner och privata aktörer, men man har på senare tid även behövt börja importera avfall för att tillfredsställa energibehovet.

The purpose of this study is to give a picture of the current status for the recruitment to forest machine operator educations in Sweden, how many the educators are and the outcome of this activity. The three at present different types of education are upper secondary school, polytechnic school and vocational school. The method used for the survey is telephone interviews, pre-broadcast issues were discussed and the responses were recorded. The results are then compiled and presented in linear form. The conclusions one can draw is that education is desirable and important. To get young people interested in forest machine operator education it is very important that the forest industry continues to develop attractive employment..

A distributed hydrological rainfall-runoff model has been developed using a GIS integrated with a dynamic programming module (PCRaster). The model has been developed within the framework of the EU-project TWINBAS at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and is intended for use in WATSHMAN ? a tool for watershed management developed at IVL. The model simulates runoff from a catchment based on daily mean values of temperature and precipitation. The GIS input data consist of maps with soil type, land-use, lakes, rivers and a digital elevation model.
