Affären Astoria Cinemas: Om en biografkedjas korta levnad

In May 2005 the Swedish cinema chain Astoria Cinemas is founded and in July two years later the company goes bankrupt. In this thesis Astoria Cinemas is used as an example to illustrate the conditions for a culture-producing company in a commercial market. The purpose of the thesis is to discuss the strategies for cultural production that has been used by the actors involved in the Swedish cinema market, and also to discuss the structural environment on that market. It is a qualitative study based on interviews and documentation. A few conclusions are possible to draw from the empirical material, one is that Astoria Cinemas? management did not agree on the company?s business strategy and therefore might have acted strategically inconsistent.

"Ett hem utan en gamling, är som ett hus utan pelare": en kvalitativ studie om hur sent-i-livet-invandrare integreras i det svenska samhället

More recently, the number of elderly immigrants has increased. This means that Sweden is faced with new challenges. The purpose of this study was to illustrate how the elder immigrants general situation in Helsingborg looks like, as well as how social workers work to integrate this target group. Furthermore, I wished to have an answer on whether social workers feel that there is a continuing need to be concentrated on the integration of elder immigrants. To get answers to my questions, I have interviewed five social workers in Helsingborg who are working on issues that concern elder and integration.

Stallet - En mötesplats

Den här rapporten belyser hästsport och integration utifrån projektet, Stallet ? En mötesplats. Studien lyfter fram de möjligheter samt begränsningar som upplevs finnas för ökad integration inom hästsport. Deltagande barn och ungdomar i projektet, projektledare, idrottsrörelsen och kultur och fritid har fått delge sin syn på det hela. Studien är en kvalitativ intervjuforskning som till viss del kan ses som en utvärderingsstudie, 13 intervjuer har utförts, 10 av dessa är med ungdomar med svensk respektive utländsk bakgrund, resterande är med projektledare, utvecklingskonsulent på Smålandsidrotten samt Kalmar kommuns kultur och fritidnämnds ordförande.

Kulturbegreppet i skapandet av nya medborgare : En uppsats om integrationsprocesser och diskurser i det sena 1900-talets Sverige

In this thesis the author has through a discourse analysis examined how the concept of culture has been used in the discourse of integration during the late twentieth century in Sweden. The author argues that the integration of immigrating people has been the fundamental method in creating Swedish citizens within the immigrant communities. In this discourse the concept ?culture? has been a constant recurring way of explaining differences among the immigrants towards ?ethnic swedes? and Swedish way of life and establishing difficulties in performing integration outside of governmental policies. When looked upon in terms of discourse the integration process is the possibilities, intents and interests and the actual creation i.e.

This study investigates a Swedish educational project aimed to incorporate young people with intellectual disabilities into the labor market through internship. This qualitative interview study was conducted with six of the project student?s internship supervisors. The purpose of this study is thus to examine the motives behind the decision to take on a trainee from the program at the workplace. In addition, the study also aims to examine whether and how dif-ferent factors of the workplace affect the trainee?s opportunities for social inclusion in the workplace.

Ett studentbostadshus för att skapa integration mellan studenter i ett trivsamt boende med större gemenskap

The aim has been to create a new student housing where there should be more togetherness between people who live in the residents. The house will have more common areas for the integration of students for a pleasant stay in Växjö. We have concentrated on finding and solving the interior design of the joint surfaces. En holistisk investeringsbank - En fallstudie av fördelarna med att vara involverad i hela M&A-processen

Studies have shown that mergers and acquisitions often fail and that a reason to this might be that investment banks do not take any responsibility for the post merger integration. Despite this there have been no studies of the potential benefits of an investment bank taking a holistic approach to the M&A-process and including post merger integration in its service. This study identifies a couple of investment banks that does this and calls them holistic investment banks. In M&A-theory a successful process is often described according to so called success factors that need to be fulfilled in order to achieve a successful result of the merger or acquisition. The business model and work approach of one holistic investment bank is analyzed in this case study on the base of seven success factors from established theories.

Utredning och implementering av en prototyp för integration av Prevas FOCS och ABB 800xA

ABB and Prevas have initiated a collaboration to sell a system to optimize steel industry furnaces, called FOCS. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate possibilities for integrating Prevas FOCS and ABB 800xA.The result of the investigation is used for an implementation of a prototype of the integrated system. The study shows a general method that can be used when implementing two software systems. The prototype of the integrated systems is made with usability principles in mind. This is a very important aspect in order to create a good working environment for the operators of a steel plant.

Va?gen till ett va?rdeskapande HR : En kvalitativ studie av personalarbete i en offentlig organisation

The field of work and employment is constantly undergoing changes. In order to help organizations to adjust to new conditions, different models for organizing have been developed. Many of these models are spread worldwide, due to the need for organizations to meet demands of flexibility and efficiency. In this study, a small number of models, which contains solutions of how to organize work in Human Resources, have been selected. The author and scientist Dave Ulrich, who has had a large influence on the development of the work in Human Resources, originally founded these models.The aim of this study was to examine how these models were functioning, in reference to the different departments of Human Resources labor within the township of Uppsala.

Tema: integration : aktionsforskning på Blackebergs gymnasium

På inbjudan av Blackebergs gymnasium har vi medverkat som deltagande lärare och forskare under ett projekt för integration. Detta projekt utgörs av mötet mellan en klass med elever av invandrarbakgrund och en klass med elever av företrädesvis svensk bakgrund. Rent praktiskt innebär detta att eleverna under en veckas tid har varit frikopplade från ordinarie schemabunden undervisning och istället deltagit i en serie evenemang med tema integration. Under denna vecka har vi handlett elever och efter bästa förmåga dokumenterat projektet. Vår metod har varit aktionforskning.

Främmande land, oklar framtid : En studie om möjligheter till utveckling utifrån olika livsförhållanden

Studien är uppdelad i tre delar och belyser den invandrade individens syn på sina möjligheter till utveckling i det nya landet. Första delen heter det ofrivilliga arvet, barn till invandrare och belyser unga invandrares syn på framtiden. Andra delen heter Det sociala skyddsnätet och belyser en rad olika skyddsnät och hur de hjälper den invandrade att komma på fötter i det nya landet. Tredje delen heter Akademisk relevans och belyser relevansen i utbildning för en individs integration samt hur Sverige som land tar vara på invandrares kompetens och erfarenheter från hemlandet. I samtliga delar berättar informanterna om med eller motgångar som de känt när de kommit till det nya landet..

This paper includes astudy of the mutual fund market investors during a selected timeperiod. The reader is given a descriptive picture of how people in different age groups have  acted  in  conjunction  with  the  last  major  financial  crisis.  It  has  been  studied whether people in the different age categories have saved,purchased or sold during this time  period  based  on  theories  and  analytic  material  from  one  of  the  largest  fund operators in Sweden. The result enlightens people?s activity and risk appetite in relation to the fund market. The essay results in an explanation of the underlying cause of the behavior        of         the         people         in         the         different         age         categories.The paper assumes that the market is cyclical and that more crises will occur in the future.

Arbetslöshet bland utrikes födda på den svenska arbetsmarknaden : En empirisk analys av vilka kommunala faktorer som kan påverka den höga arbetslösheten bland utrikesfödda

Unemployment amongst Swedish citizens is higher within the group which falls under the designation foreign-born. The aim of this thesis is to examine which municipal factors that can explain the differences in unemployment amongst foreign-born relative to native born.The empirical models are examined with both cross-sectional data for the year of 2010 and panel data for the years of 2002-2012. The examination is implemented through a linear regression analysis of the type Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Fixed Effect regressions. A theory section will be presented where the theory on Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate (NAIRU), theories on discrimination and country-specific human capital are illustrated.The result from the cross-sectional data shows that the amount of foreign-born, the level of foreign-born immigrated from Nordic countries have a significant negative effect on unemployment amongst foreign-born. The general unemployment shows a significant positive effect on the unemployment amongst foreign-born.

Integration i ämnet idrott och hälsa. : En kvalitativ undersökning via observationer och intervjuer av lärare som arbetar i skolor där majoriteten av eleverna har utländsk bakgrund.

Idag kan man se att Sverige är ett mångkulturellt land och den svenska skolan har blivit en mötesplats där elever med olika bakgrunder och erfarenheter dagligen träffas. Vilket kan vara en stor möjlighet till att en integration sker. Forskningen kring integrering har under de senaste åren valt att inrikta sig på att undersöka om hur läraren arbetar med eleverna med utländsk bakgrund när det gäller ämnet Idrott och hälsa. Syftet med vår uppsats är att undersöka hur lärare i idrott och hälsa arbetar med integration i skolor där majoriteten av eleverna har en utländsk bakgrund. För att uppnå vårt syfte har vi valt att göra en kvalitativ undersökning, genom att göra en semistrukturerad intervju med fyra lärare som undervisar i ämnet idrott och hälsa. Men innan intervjuerna skedde så observerade vi totalt 10 lektioner som komplement till intervjuerna. Uppsatsen kommer fram till att lärarna i idrott och hälsa som deltar i studien tar till hänsyn i sin lektionsplanering och i sin undervisning när det handlar om elever med utländsk bakgrund. .

The electric vehicle market has potential to contribute to Sweden?s national goal to have a fossil fuel independent transport sector by 2030. However, the market answers to a lot of challenges making it difficult for the market to fully reach its potential. The volume of electric vehicles has seen a steady increase during the last year (2012), although many of these vehicles are mostly for PR purposes or bought by the public sector that wants to lead by example. Still, barriers in the form of high purchase costs, an anxiety for the limited battery capacity and the lack of standardisation are some of the problems that the market is struggling to solve.
