Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recognizes glaciers as the best land-indicator of climate change. A variety of studies have concluded, using both modeling and field studies, that above all climate parameters precipitation, particularly winter precipitation, and summer temperature controls the change in glacier mass balance. With global warming almost all glaciers on Earth are losing mass. In this study, the summit-glacier constituting Kebnekaise's south summit (called the Southern-summit henceforth), Sweden's highest point, is studied to see how it is affected by winter precipitation and summer temperature during the period 1968?2013.

In light of health scandals and intense debate in the media about the elderly, the authors investigates two Swedish newspaper and their depiction of elder care in Sweden. Using Faircloughs three-dimensional model and critical discourse analysis, it is investigated if there is a more prominent discourse and if so the impact of globalization on this discourse concerning swedish elderly care. A sample of a total of ten articles in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter is analyzed. The authors found that older people who are granted home help or place of accommodation rarely make their voices heard. Rarely were also relatives of residents given the opportunity to speak.

3nine has developed oil mist separators for the manufacturing industry. They are used in factories and workshops in Sweden as well as many other countries. The basis for this thesis is to investigate the performance of these separators in applied environments under different circumstances and to find factors that influence the performance. It has been shown both theoretically and in laboratory environments that the sizes of the particles in the oil mist influences the performance of separation. This is to be verified under applied circumstances as well.The separators also have in most cases, after the centrifugal separation, HEPA-filters mounted that separates the remaining oil mist.

This paper concerning the regional architectural term known as the Tjust Empire style analyses manor houses built in the Tjust area by the east coast of Småland in the period 1810-1860. The term Tjust Empire style was invented in 1937 by PhD. Manne Hofrén in his dissertation on architecture in Kalmar län in the period 1650-1850. The aim of the paper is firstly to determine whether there is a distinct difference between the regional Tjust Empire style in architecture and the common Swedish empire style or as its Swedish equivalent is known; the Karl Johan style. Secondly, the paper strives to analyse why and how the Empire style became so popular in the area during this period, focusing on architecture as a means to express social identity and status.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att undersöka och jämföra hur den politiska krisen iUkraina återspeglats i Dagens Nyheter (Sverige) och The New York Times (USA).Frågorna som besvaras är hur rapporteringen i artiklarna under en utvald vecka iutvecklingen ser ut, utifrån teorier om gestaltning, personifiering och narrativ. Det görssamtidigt en jämförelse mellan de olika tidningarna för att skilja ut likheter eller skillnader ideras rapportering, samt för att undersöka om ländernas nationella intressen syns i texterna.Underlaget för studien är publicerat i de valda tidningarna under en specifik vecka ifebruari. Materialet består av totalt fjorton artiklar, sju ifrån varje tidning från varje dag iveckan. Med en kritisk diskursanalys enligt van Dijks modell har sedan en analys avsamtliga artiklar genomförts. Resultatet av analysen har visat att rapporteringen i bådatidningarna har beskrivit konflikten som en politisk sådan.

Syftet med vårt examensarbete är att lyfta fram och öka förståelsen för lärares roll i skolans visuella kultur. Utifrån detta syfte ställer vi oss två forskningsfrågor: Hur berättar lärare i årskurs F-3 om sitt urval av och arbete med bilder och visuella media? Hur kan vi förstå skolans visuella kultur genom deras berättelser? I vårt arbete utgår vi från teorier om visuell kultur. Arbetets undersökning innefattar intervjuer med sju lärare verksamma i årskurs F-3. I analysen av empirin använder vi oss av kritisk diskursanalys som metod med fokus på textens ordval och modalitet.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att med utgångspunkt från ett socialkonstruktionistiskt perspektiv undersöka hur två kända företags presentationer av en önskvärd arbetssökande kan tolkas. Kritisk diskursanalys ur genusperspektiv utfördes på texter från H&Ms och IKEAs hemsidor. Av intresse var hur individen konstrueras i Internetbaserade företagspresentationer. Genom analys identifierades diskurser samt subjektpositioner som skapats i texterna. Fokus låg genomgående på konsekvenser av sociala konstruktioner och på oavsiktlig diskriminering vid rekrytering.

Denna studie har som syfte till att undersöka två dagstidningars och tre resetidningars framställning av Dark Tourism samt ta reda på vilka skillnader och likheter framställningarna har. Målet är även att finna en djupgående uppfattning av Dark Tourism och de olika perspektiven och gemensamma dragen som finns i artiklarna. Det empiriska materialet består av 25 artiklar varav 15 stycken kommer från dagstidningar och 10 stycken kommer ifrån resetidningar. En kritisk diskursanalys har tillämpats som metod i denna studie och resultaten visar att två olika diskurser, varav den ena är melankolisk och den andra är sangvinisk, präglar tidningsgenrerna. Det framgår även att diskurserna som råder i tidningarna kan ha en stor påverkan på människors uppfattning av fenomenet Dark Tourism..

This paper includes astudy of the mutual fund market investors during a selected timeperiod. The reader is given a descriptive picture of how people in different age groups have  acted  in  conjunction  with  the  last  major  financial  crisis.  It  has  been  studied whether people in the different age categories have saved,purchased or sold during this time  period  based  on  theories  and  analytic  material  from  one  of  the  largest  fund operators in Sweden. The result enlightens people?s activity and risk appetite in relation to the fund market. The essay results in an explanation of the underlying cause of the behavior        of         the         people         in         the         different         age         categories.The paper assumes that the market is cyclical and that more crises will occur in the future.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how peace journalism was expressed in Swedish newspapers´ reporting on the war in Georgia 2008. We did this by analyzing whether the reporting was elite- or people-orientated depending on how suffering was expressed and how the war players were described.The method we used was Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). It was applied on news articles from four Swedish newspapers that covered three different happenings in the war in Georgia.We found out that the reporting was mainly elite-orientated, both when it comes to how suffering was expressed, as well as how the war players were described. The newspapers tended to focus on only one party?s suffering and one party as evil-doer, which is elite-orientated reporting and also an indication of war journalism rather than peace journalism..

Gender and politics, how well do they match? An interesting way of studying gender and politics is therefore to look at the legislation proposals from the government. In Sweden when the government make a legislation proposal it have to have a chapter that consider the aspect of equality between men and women. This paper aim to study the language in the gender aspect of the legislation proposal. This is done from a gender perspective.

I den här uppsatsen undersöks fyra vårdtexter om den gynekologiska sjukdomen vestibulit. Studienutgår ifrån teorier om läsbarhet, kritisk diskursanalys samt från queerteori, och undersöker fyrahuvudsakliga frågor: hur läsbara texterna är, vem eller vilka de riktar sig till, hur läsaren tilltalas itexterna, samt huruvida texterna reproducerar normer om kön och/eller sexualitet. Jag använder migav Hellspongs och Ledins modell för brukstextanalys samt LIX-testet för att göra analysen. Resultaten visar att texterna är relativt läsbara, men något abstrakta då det inte alltid är självklartvem de riktar sig till eller vem den tänkta läsaren är. Tre av fyra texter reproducerar normen om detbinära könssystemet, framför allt genom att anta att alla personer som har slidor är kvinnor.

This study aims to scrutinize the four major banks in Sweden on how their profit havedeveloped over a time span of 15 years, whether stricter regulations have had anyimpact on financial key ratios and if there is any correlation between the banksprofitability and their risk taking. The period covered is the years 2000-2014. Thefigures are annually and the four major banks are; Handelsbanken, Nordea,Skandiviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) and Swedbank.The findings are that financial key ratios that include net income are pro-cycle whereSwedbank has the biggest volatility over the period and that the three other banks areless, but clear pro-cycle. There are also indications that stricter rules have madeimpact on the volatility of the profitability even though the period covered is notenough to ensure this claim. Nordea has had the lowest and most stable capital ratiothroughout the period and the other three banks lowered their debt-to-equity ratiosignificantly after the financial crisis in 2008.

The aim of this essay is to find some of the main developing tendencies in the advertisement genre during the period of 1930-2000. The analysis is based on three examples of Gevalia cinema and TV-advertisement. Research findings are the result of using theories from different but relevant sciences, which are media, linguistics and rhetoric. Media studies help to explain the influence of the society and technology development on the advertising business. Linguistics and rhetoric give the main methods and terminology for the basic as well as comparing analyses of the three advertisements in question.
