Rabbits, Oryctolagos cuniculus, rapidly increases as pets. During the right circumstances, rabbits are friendly, social and playful. A rabbit who shows an abnormal behavior should always be examined by a veterinary, though there is almost always a medical problem.
This essay is a result of a literature studie with the aim to find the prophylactic measures that may give pet rabbits a more healthy life. Rabbits have got a lot of common health problems, including dental, skin and gastrointestinal problems.

Bakgrund: Förekomsten av obesitas bland barn och ungdomar har under de senaste tio åren ökat drastiskt och fortsätter att öka. Trots rekommendationer från WHO har schemalagd fysisk aktivitet (FA) under skoltid minskats, även i hemmet har det stillasittande beteendet ökat allteftersom elektronisk utrustning används mer. Barn och ungdomars deltagande i fysiska aktiviter på fritiden har minskat och gett plats åt ?screen-time?. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att genom en litteratursammanställning undersöka vilka effekter FA, diet, beteendeterapi och stillasittande beteende har, samt vilka orsaker som finns till obesitas hos barn och ungdomar.Metod: Datainsamling via artikelsök i databaser.

The weather has been extremely rainy the last summers in Sweden. Because of the rain, a lot of harvested straw has been lost since it was too wet to store. When the pig producers couldn?t get enough straw to use as bedding, an alternative was requested. Silage is a realistic alternative to straw but since silage often contains clover, it may not be suitable to use in pig production since clover is rich in phytoestrogens.

Bakgrund Idag är LCHF (Low-carbohydrate High-fat) en populär diet. Forskningen som finns inom området fokuserar mycket på viktnedgång. Därför är det intressant att undersöka kosten genom att analysera dess sammansättning och jämföra med rekommendationerna enligt Nordiska näringsrekommendationer (NNR).Syfte Utveckla fyra-veckors menyer för LCHF-kost samt en blandkost enligt NNR inför en RCT-studie. Undersöka om det finns risk för lågt intag av vitaminer, mineraler och kostfibrer enligt NNR:s rekommendationer för unga kvinnor (18-30 år) vid en LCHF-kost. Undersöka möjligheterna att uppnå rekommenderade nivåer av vitaminer, mineraler och kostfibrer med en blandkost enligt NNR:s rekommendationer för unga kvinnor.

The aim of this work was to investigate possible risk factors for colic in horses, and to describe what horse owners can do to prevent this condition.
The gastrointestinal system of the horse is constructed for continuous high fibre consumption for a period up to eighteen hours a day. Under those conditions, the continuous flow of digesta stimulates gut motility so that the intestines move constantly. When the diet is changed rapidly and the horse is being fed high rations of concentrates each day, the risk of getting colic is higher compared to when consuming less concentrates and giving the horse a stable diet.
Lack or absence of access to water and restricted allowance to move freely every day increases the risk of colic. Changed management practices and decreased activity contributes to increased risks, as well as other critical risk factors such as breed, season and age combined with rapidly changed management.
More knowledge and education is required of the horse owners about feed requirements in the horse, management routines and rapidly changed activity..
Magnesiumstatus hos mjölkkor : en fältstudie
Magnesium is an essential mineral that is important for several physiologic and biochemical processes in the body. Deficiency of magnesium is mainly associated with grass tetany, but can also appear in cows during the indoor period. Since long it is known that potassium has a negative effect on the absorption of magnesium. Due to the fact that potassium fertilisation leads to a higher potassium content in forage, it is of interest to study interactions of potassium on the magnesium balance in dairy cows. There are few studies about magnesium feeding to dairy cows in Sweden and the purpose of this study was to investigate how much magnesium and from which feed-sources dairy cows in Sweden get their magnesium.
Data was collected from seven farms in the northern part of Uppland and from seven farms in Skaraborg in Sweden.

Feed costs constitute a large part of the expenses of dairy farmers. Pasture is a high quality feed with a low cost. However, feeding with concentrates has been shown to enhance milk yield (Leaver, 1985; Bargo et al., 2003; Stockdale, 2004). The purpose with this study was to investigate how milk yield and milk composition were affected as the concentrate proportion in the diet decreased. Pasture behaviour was examined to see if the different concentrate levels affected the time cows spent grazing and ruminating.
Vilka faktorer påverkar valet av diet? : En enkätundersökning på unga vuxna som studerar på Högskolan i Gävle
Enligt matvaneundersökningar har unga vuxna sämst matvanor. Detta är ett stort hälsoproblem eftersom dåliga matvanor ökar risken för sjukdomar. Trots att allmänheten har goda kunskaper om de svenska kostråden äter de flesta inte efter dem. Ett problem kan ligga i Livsmedelverket oförmåga att nå ut och övertyga allmänheten att äta efter deras kostråd. Förespråkare för populära dieter är däremot bättre på att marknadsföra sig och har fler följare.

Raw food, eller råkost diet kan ses som en växande trend i västvärlden och även i Sverige. Det har kommit ut raw food böcker på svenska, på internet finns det svenska diskussionsforum, bloggar och butiker som alla har dedikerat sig till rawfoodister, första raw food restauranger har öppnats i landet. Raw food är en form av vegankost; den består av frukt, grönsaker, nötter, frön och kallpressade oljor. Maten värms inte upp mer än 40 C, torkning och frysning accepteras, många äter mjölksyrade grönsaker, groddade spannmål och baljväxter. Kaffe, alkohol, raffinerat socker, vit mjöl och salt undviks.

The purpose of this literature review was to describe if the nutritional balance of the fats, carbohydrates, proteins and fibers can lead to weight reduction and to improve glucos-/blood lipid for individuals with obesity and type 2 diabetes. The method used was a literature review. Twenty-two scientific articles were chosen, which were consistent with the study purpose and questions. The articles were selected based on searches in the Medline database by PubMed. The keywords used were type 2 diabetes mellitus, diet, obesity, comparative, fat, carbohydrate, low carbohydrate, high fat and saturated fat.

Gymnasieelevers kunskap om kost och hälsa : Upper secondary school student?s knowledge about diet and a healthy lifestyle
AbstraktSyftet med studien har varit att undersöka vad eleverna har lärt sig om kost och hälsa på högstadiet inom ämnena idrott och hälsa samt hem och konsumentkunskap. Undersökningen gjordes med hjälp av enkäter som omfattade totalt 55 elever. Under min utbildning till lärare inom idrott och hälsa samt hem och konsumentkunskap har jag sett att övervikt och ohälsa blir ett allt större problem bland våra ungdomar. Som i sin tur kan leda till dålig självkänsla, utanförskap och en dålig hälsa hos eleverna. Resultatet visade att uppfattningen om den egna kunskapen och den verkliga kunskapen om kost och hälsa var bra hos majoriteten av eleverna.
