A persistent problem in the construction industry is its low margins of profit. It is often difficult to earn money due to low efficiency and high costs. Logistics on the construction site answers for a large amount of these costs and it is therefore of interest to find new, more efficient logistic solutions. The purpose of this thesis is to compare two different logistic systems and further to evaluate which one that is the most efficient and profitable. A comparison is made between the traditional logistic systems used for years and a new logistic system developed by an industry association called BEAst.

When communications traffic increasingly turned into data, IP telephony became a disruptive technology for the telecommunication business. IP telephony was a hot topic when voice over IP services started to become available to consumers in the 1990s. The new technology changed the rules of the game and many new actors entered the market.The purpose of this study is to describe, study, and analyze how the business models of the Swedish telecom sector developed in the middle of the 2000s. The study is delimited to the Swedish consumer market for telephony.The study is built mainly upon deep interviews with 24 prominent persons in the telecom sector in 2006. To aid understanding, two telecom companies that have been chosen to represent different kinds of actors are described and analyzed more closely.

In this report listed buildings, according to the Swedish Heritage Conservation Act, have been studied with a focus on cases where economical compensation has been given to the owner of the building and cases where the listing of the building has been appealed by the owner. In order for a building to become listed it needs to be particularly valuable from a cultural and historical standpoint. The listed buildings are protected through a list of regulations that determines which parts of the building can or cannot be changed, what methods and materials should be used for changes and repairs, and how the building should be maintained. These regulations should as far as possible be formulated in agreement with the owner, but a building can become listed against the owners will. To decrease the damage this causes the owner he can in some cases have the right to economical compensation. There is also a possibility for the owner to appeal the listing of the building.

Att skapa fördelar med lean kräver en gedigen hängivenhet i tillämpningen av lean filosofin. Studier har påvisat svårigheter hos medelstora tillverkningsföretag vid tillämpning av lean att skapa synergier mellan hantering av efterfrågan och lagerstyrning. En efterfrågehantering som skapat ojämnt flöde utav produktionsorder som lett till problematik med voluminösa och inkuranta lagernivåer.Med den problematiken som grund har en fallstudie utförts på ett medelstort tillverkningsföretag. Studien har syftat till att undersöka brister i efterfrågehantering, produktionsplanering samt lagerstyrning hos fallföretaget utifrån ett lean perspektiv samt föreslå förbättringsåtgärder. Studien har antagit en hermeneutisk utgångspunkt med en deduktiv ansats där teori först studerats för att sedermera samla in empiri för jämförelse.Resultatet av studien blev förslag på förbättringsmöjligheter för fallföretaget som då besvarat frågeställningarna hur ett tillverkningsföretag kan förbättra både sitt interna och externa lagerflöde.

Tissue factor (TF), a 47 kDa glycoprotein, is the initiator of the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation and consequently of the upmost importance when damage to blood vessel occurs. The source of TF in circulation has been investigated. However, the source of TF is still not clear. One theory is that platelets express and increases the expression of TF after stimulation and the aim of our report was to investigate whether platelets really are a source for TF in circulation.Using specific primers for TF mRNA, platelets in plasma from healthy volunteers and from patients suffering from cardiac infarction were analyzed by using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Gel electrophoresis was performed after amplification of TF mRNA to verify the results.The samples were negative for TF when using real-time PCR and the few positive all had cycle threshold (Ct) values above 35.

AbstractPurpose:The purpose of the study is to describe the internationalization process of one firm when in a country culturally diverse from the firm?s original market.Methodology/approach:The study is a single case study which examines one firm?s internationalization process when entering the Chinese market. The approach has been an empiric interaction between empirical and theoretical data.Findings:The theory of the Uppsala model was applied to the case-company to test the model?s completeness. The authors found weaknesses and added three more aspects to the model.

Radio Frequency Identification, RFID, är en teknik för spårning och informationsbärande som har funnits i över 50 år. Det är dock inte förrän på senare år som användandet av tekniken har fått en bredare spridning. I Sverige finns idag ett flertal företag som har implementerat lösningar som bygger på RFID-teknik men samtliga är begränsade till att endast användas inom ett företag i ett slutet system. På frågan hur RFID-teknik och dess standard EPC påverkar företag i en supply chain, det vill säga i ett öppet system, finns inget klart svar utan detta bör undersökas för respektive bransch där ett införande kan vara intressant. Denna studie är en sådan undersökning, genomförd inom den svenska dagligvarubranschen, med följande syfte:Syftet med denna studie är att, på aktivitetsnivå, kartlägga flödet av fem utvalda produkter i dagligvarubranschen samt att för företag som ingår i dessa flöden skapa scenarier där RFID-teknik utnyttjas.

There are several different kinds of bacteria that has developed resistance against the antibiotic agents used in todays medicine. Most of them has evolved from the human health care but several of them has gone over to also cause problems in the animal health care. They often occur as nosocomial infections and the greatest risk of exposure to them is during health care. Since infections with a resistant bacterium can be difficult to treat, it is desirable to prevent this spread, especially since an animal treated in a hospital often is more susceptible to infection, due to their primary condition. In Sweden the current resistance situation is good and is yearly monitored by the Swedish Veterinary Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring (SVARM) programme.

Eventing is often called as the formula 1 in equestrian sports and comprises three disciplines: dressage, show jumping and cross-country. The sport provides excitement, challenge and joy and is the ultimate sport for intelligent riders and horses. Many are fascinated by the challenges the sport offers while other consider it foolhardy to ride a cross-country. Eventing is not a risk-free sport and has even been given the label of being one of the world´s most dangerous sports. What do those risks mean to the horse? And particularly, is it associated with good animal ethics to use the horse for eventing? Finding answers to these questions is not easy as it probably is not a clear and simple answer.

This master thesis is based on a general issue of quality in social services. I have chosen to illustrate through an empirical case, namely the position social responsibility coordinator and shortened SAS.This position is fairly new to the Swedish social services and has the overall mandate to monitor, develop and ensure quality.To study this, I have developed two analytic schemes. One is based on the concept of quality value components, the second is based on the concept of quality character components. These analytical schemes are used as the presented material. When I study mycase, I have used two methods, documents and questionnaires.In this study I will try to describe how new solutions to improve the quality of social services can conform and develop.

Section 25-27, i.e. the rights of priority of the Employment Protection Act, is a form of post-employment protection which exists to support those employed on a part-time basis and former employees. When a vacancy arises an employer should first and foremost offer part-time employees employment at a higher level of occupation or offer employment to former employees. The various types of employment contracts, other than those valid for an indefinite term, have increased during the last decades on the Swedish labour market. Labour hire has become more common and therefore we find it interesting to investigate how the rights of priority apply.The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyze the law with regards to labour hire when people with rights of priority are available.

Altmetrics, a subfield of informetrics, is still in development. The aim of this thesis is to explore; the significance altmetrics may have in the LIS field, and to define the new perspectives altmetrics offer in comparison to traditional metrics. The research questions are:- How can altmetrics affect research assessment?- How does altmetrics position itself towards traditional metrics?- How could altmetrics influence the LIS field?A qualitative content analysis was used as a method. The analysis of a sample of ten peer reviewed articles was based on a coding scheme with eleven codes.

The purpose of this thesis is to outline an appropriate model in order for companies to successfully act and compete physically as wholesalers at the same time as acting on the virtual market by selling directly to the end consumer. The approach of this thesis is hermeneutical and abductive with elements of hypothetically deductive approach. Our research has a qualitative research strategy based on case studies and interviews as well as on secondary data. Interviews were conducted with the case company JaymJay Wear AB as well as with other companies, so called mini cases. The secondary data consists mainly of textbooks, web sites and journals.

Med större krav på effektivisering och pressade kostnader har VMI på senare tid blivit en allt mer tillämpad metod för att samordna aktiviteterna i försörjningskedjan. Mycket forskning har gjorts kring ämnet VMI och dess fördelar. Däremot har inte mycket skrivits om initiativtagande och hur dessa samarbeten uppstår.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka företag som tillämpar VMI. Detta för att ta reda på vem, kunden eller leverantören, som tar initiativet till samarbetet och varför. Utifrån detta vill vi även identifiera konsekvenser kopplade till vem som tog initiativet.Genom vår undersökning har vi kommit fram till att kunden så väl som leverantören kan vara initiativtagare.
