Telemedicine is the use of information and communication technology to provide clinical health care at a distance. This approach is usually adopted to bridge the distance in rural settings, but it is also a method to meet demographical and economical challenges. Västerbotten, a sparsely populated county with an ageing population, is in leading edge when it comes to telemedicine. The purpose of this report was to examine the diffusion and the inventory of telemedicine in the county council of Västerbotten from a geographical perspective. To gain a deeper understanding of diffusion and inventory of telemedicine, my purpose was also to examine these processes from an international and national perspective.

HIV/AIDS is a chronic disease that has increased and will continue to increase. Most health care workers will one way or another come into contact with it. The purpose of this literature review was to describe factors contributing to nurses' attitudes towards patients with HIV/AIDS. Sixteen articles were analyzed and quality assessed. The results revealed gaps in knowledge among nurses.

HIV och AIDS är globalt en tabubelagd sjukdom som omges av okunskap och rädsla. Brist på kunskap i samhället och inom hälso- och sjukvården resulterar ofta i diskriminering och utanförskap av personer med HIV och AIDS. Sjuksköterskors ansvar att upprätthålla ett positivt förhållningssätt i omvårdnaden av personer med sjukdomen bör därför uppmärksammas, då samhällets diskriminering ofta hindrar personer med positiv HIV- och AIDS- diagnos från att söka vård. Syftet var att beskriva hur sjuksköterskestudenters och sjuksköterskors kunskap och förhållningssätt kunde påverka omvårdnaden av personer med HIV och AIDS. Studien är genomförd som en litteraturstudie och baseras på tretton vetenskapliga artiklar som granskats och bearbetats för att identifiera kunskap och förhållningssätt i relation till sjukdomen.

The earmould acoustics affect the amplification that the hearing aid is programmed to give to its user. It is therefore important that the choices made for the earmould are correctly done. One choice is regarding the shape of the soundbore that affects the frequency response of the hearing aid above a certain cut-off frequency. The purpose of this project was to measure the frequency response when altering the shape of the soundbore in the earmould. Additionally, the aim was to examine how the frequency response is affected when the shape of the soundbore is not set or is not possible to set in the software when programming the hearing aid.

Different abilities are of importance to pragmatics, there among hearing. Hearing impairment can affect language development and also pragmatic ability. The aim of the present paper was to study the pragmatic ability in terms of request for clarification in children with Hearing Impairment (HI) in conversation with children with no known hearing impairment, henceforth normally hearing (NH). The present study also describes requests for clarification sequentially in detail, and also highlights points where there may be observable differences between children with and without hearing impairment. Eight conversational pairs consisting of one child with HI and one NH child were studied.

The capacity to process and to remember information is a basic condition for language ability and for coming reading ability. Reading ability is strongly connected to phonological awareness, receptive vocabulary knowledge and working memory capacity. In what way hearing impairment in children affects development of cognitive skills and later on reading ability is an area that has attracted minor attention for research.The aim with this study was to investigate changes in cognitive skills and reading ability in children with mild or moderate hearing impairment after one year of progress and furthermore if any connections between any increases of the abilities were to be found. Comparisons were made with results from age adequate normal hearing children. Moreover prosodic ability on word-level was tested this year.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the results obtained from scientific articles concerning research into group rehabilitation for people over 65 years with hearing problems. The interest arose then group rehabilitation was unusual in the audiologists work, even though previous research showed these positive effects. With a group rehabilitation, the participants can easier accept theire hearing loss and hearing aid, compaired with an individual rehabilitation. The method used was a literature study. PubMed and PsycINFO databases were used in the search for literature.

Background: From a public health perspective it is of great interest to prevent the risk of noise induced hearing loss, because in addition to hearing loss, tinnitus and sound sensitivity also may lead to other health problems. About 1,4 million people in Sweden live with some form of hearing loss and 25000 of them are children under the age of 16. Studies have shown that hearing loss among adolescents is increasing and it is often associated with sound environments in their leisure time. Lectures in hearing prevention has been conducted in schools for adolescents but have not reached the desired results. Objective: To enquire caregivers? attitude, behaviour and perceived knowledge about sound exposure and its risks.

Small companies have fewer resources which often result in an tendency to disregard  administrative tasks. A factor that influences the company?s revenues is the control of its inventories. The purpose of the current study was to analyze which of the two options, leasing or owning your inventory, that could be justified from an economical perspective. Furthermore, the purpose was to describe the optimal inventory level for each option. To meet these objectives representatives for the company was interviewed and a thorough investigation process was undertaken, during which methodological problems were solved.  It was found that leasing the inventory was the most expensive option for the company. Analysis demonstrated that optimal turnover inventory according to EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) would amount to 65,0 thousand Swedish Krona if the company leases their inventory in comparison to 56,0 thousand Swedish Krona if the company owned their inventory.

Grupper som av samhället i många fall har blivit fördömda för sitt avvikande levnadssätt. Vi vill med denna litteraturstudie belysa hur sjuksköterskors attityder emot HIV/AIDS patienter ser ut inom slutenvården. I samhället bemöts HIV/AIDS patientgruppen med misstänksamhet, skuldbeläggande och rädsla (Siminoff, 2001). Vilken attityd har sjuksköterskorna inom slutenvården i EU och USA till denna patientgrupp? Vi valde att genomföra en systematisk litteraturstudie för att få svar på studiens frågeställningar.

När en person insjuknar i HIV/AIDS blir hela familjen drabbad. Familjen är en viktig resurs för den sjuke och är dem som har bäst kännedom om den sjuke familjemedlemmens behov. Genom att ha kunskap om hur HIV/AIDS påverkar familjen kan sjuksköterskor och övrig vårdpersonal hjälpa och stötta hela familjen. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur familjer påverkas av att leva med en familjemedlem med HIV/AIDS. Studien genomfördes som en systematisk litteraturöversikt och elva kvalitativa och tre kvantitativa artiklar analyserades.

This thesis presents a general definition of science education and earth science education.An inventory has been conducted of published material during the years 2011-2013, withthe start in 2013 and working backwards for international publications and with no timelimits in time for Swedish publications. Different databases were used during April 2013 forthe inventory.The thesis organizes and analyses published material in earth science education in a tablewith a following discussion.The purpose with the inventory was to investigate the amount and content ofprevious year?s publications in earth science education. Concept inventories were foundto be the most common subject of the found material, followed by virtual field studies. Thelargest amount of publications was published in North America.
