Faktorer som bidrar till sjuksköterskors förhållningssätt gentemot patienter med HIV/AIDS

en litteraturstudie

HIV/AIDS is a chronic disease that has increased and will continue to increase. Most health care workers will one way or another come into contact with it. The purpose of this literature review was to describe factors contributing to nurses' attitudes towards patients with HIV/AIDS. Sixteen articles were analyzed and quality assessed. The results revealed gaps in knowledge among nurses. A high level of knowledge and care experience of patients with HIV/AIDS had a positive impact on the approach and a reduced fear of infection. Nurses with relatives/friends who were worried about infection were less likely to care for HIV/AIDS patients. Material Shortage had a negative impact on nurses and it could lead to patients not receiving the care they needed, in part due to the nurses fear of contamination. Nursing approach and willingness to care was also dependent on how patients were infected. A strong desire to get more education, support and training was with the nurses to increase the security and willingness to care.
