The environment became an established issue on the international political agenda after World War 2. How to preserve natural resources became an issue that concerned several powerful participants, affected by changed conditions in the environmental legislation. This paper is a study of the growing environmental work within the multinational Swedish corporations Boliden, IKEA and SAS and how it was affected by the globalization. The material studied is environmentally related information produced by the companies and also interviews with the Environmental Managers. The information provided has been analyzed and compared with well-known opinions of globalization, trying to find out how the process of globalization has affected the handling of environmental work within the companies.

The premise of this paper is that over time a person who migrates to another culture will undergo change. In an artist this change should manifest itself in his art and artistry. A study of the generations problematic in museums of work and local folklore societies, principally run through volunteer work. Illustrative examples are Ödestugu local folklore society and Husqvarna Factory Museum in Småland (Sweden). The empirical study consists of interviews with active people and inquiry among societymembers and workers at the factory. An analysis of interest, engagement and the view of the future is made and concepts like professionalisation and change are discussed. By way of conclusion the coming generation problem is discussed in relation to professionalisation, the historical development, volunteer work, economy and national projects..

Humanity has always dreamed about a better world. These dreams has manifested themselves in the vision of Utopia - the good place, but also the non-existing place. Up until World War II man still wrote optimistic descriptions of this ideal world, and spread the idea through literature. In the aftermath of the atomic bomb and under the influence of the cold war, these publications seized to surface in literary surroundings. Despite this utopia did not die - it has only changed.

Undersökningens syfte är att visa vad Föreningen Svensk Form/Svenska Slöjdföreningen i sin publicerade litteratur skrivit om vad svensk form är och vilket ursprung den har. Den undersökta perioden är 1950-tal till 1990-tal. Uppsatsen tar också upp vilka samtida debatter och samhällsangelägenheter man etablerat den svenska formen i och hur man använt dessa för att visa upp föreningen som aktiv samhällsmedborgare. Diskussionerna rör sig kring berättelsers etablerande, och maktpositioner i det offentliga samtalet. Resultatet av studien visar bland annat att Föreningen Svensk Form/Svenska Slöjdföreningen under den undersökta perioden fört fram en oförändrad bild av den svenska formen och dess ursprung.

In this paper, a navigation support approach for speech-only interaction based on auditory icons for room-based designs is presented, i.e. naturally occurring sounds that have a natural mapping to the system's underlying design metaphor. In contrast to many recent investigations that have focused on multi-modal or augmented reality systems, this paper concerns a unimodal speech and sound-only system. An auditory icon based prototype system for buildings maintenance support using a room-based metaphor was developed. The design was evaluated in a comparison with earcons and no-sound designs.

The aim of this thesis is to map the research area of scientific collaboration within Library and Information Science LIS. The purpose is to find out who is doing research in this area, who they cite and if they get cited by other scientists outside of LIS. Scientific collaboration is an interdisciplinary research area with researchers from different disciplines such as LIS, human-computer interaction, psychology and sociology. We have concentrated our study to North America, Ireland, Great Britain and Scandinavia. In order to find researchers, we visited the websites of all universities with library and information science faculties in the chosen countries.

This qualitative study focuses on the investigation of different actor?s ideas concerning gender and womanhood in a post-socialist nation Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of this study is to try to provide experiences and attitudes of one not a new, but definitely one constantly changing phenomenon, trafficking in women for sexual exploitation. The qualitative data is mainly collected through nine interviews with people from Bosnian Governments, International organizations and NGOs during my stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The causes to trafficking are complex and intertwined but it directly relates to gender discrimination and attitudes on sexual relationships between women and men.

Recreation leaders on youth recreation centres is a professional category, mostly mentioned in the public conversation when it comes to taxes and youth problems. But what do they really do, what outlook do they have to their task, and finally, how are their daily lives like at work? The stories of twelve people represent the basis of this essay which itself consists of two separate studies. Six professional recreation leaders speak about their view of their own work, based on background, mission, education, ethics and position. The recreation leaders´stories reflect a worksituation with meetings of great significance andimportant standpoints.

This master?s thesis presents experiences from an evaluation of AdApt, a multi- modal, conversational dialogue system, using PARADISE, PARAdigm for Dialogue System Evaluation, a general framework for evaluation. The purpose of this master?s thesis was to assess PARADISE as an evaluation tool for such a system. An experimental study with 26 subjects was performed.

Studien belyser det regionala arbetet med miljökvalitetsmålen inom Östergötlands län. Syftet för studien har varit att identifiera och analysera hinder inom ramen för utarbetandet av miljömålen i Östergötlands län, med särskilt fokus på konflikter och de främsta orsakerna bakom dessa. För att avgränsa studien har främst arbetet inom jordbrukssektorn granskats. Studien är kvalitativ och grundad på kvalitativa intervjuer av personer involverade i miljömålsarbetet i Östergötland. Studien tyder på att det uppstått konflikter i samband med prioriteringsarbetet och att det inom jordbrukssektorsgruppen i Östergötland förekommit interna målkonflikter, kanske främst grundade i ideologiska synsätt.

Uppsatsen består av en textanalys av 10 Mills&Boon Harlequinromaner som med ett kultursociologiskt perspektiv lyfter fram den process hjältinnan i Harlequinromanen genomför då hon i böckerna förändras från att vara en vanlig kvinna (Everywoman) till att bli en idealkvinna (Idealwoman. Studien inleds med en presentation av förlaget Harlequin Mills&Boon samt en enkel introduktion av romanens uppbyggnad och handling. Vidare följer en tillbakablick på tidigare forskning kring populärkulturen i allmänhet och kärleksromaner i synnerhet. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten finns i Pierre Bourdieus teorier kring habitus, fält och kapital. Analysen delar upp hjältinnans process i fyra delar: Everywoman, Avkodning, Kapitalhöjning och Idealwoman.

Den här uppsatsen handlar om trafiksäkerhet och, mer specifikt, den mänskliga faktorns inverkan vid olyckor och incidenter. Arbetet är skrivet inom FICA- projeketet, vars målsättning är att förstå förarbeteende för att kunna utveckla aktiv säkerhetsteknologi för fordon. I första delen (kapitel 2?6) presenteras ett teoretiskt ramverk för att förstå förarbeteende i olika kontexter. I andra delen (kapitel 7?8) redovisas en metod för att analysera olycks- och incidentförlopp, kallad DREAM ? Driving Reliability and Error Analysis Method.

Due to an increased population in cities the need of densification of cities increases. This means that the amount of ecological elements in the city is at risk of decreasing. Ecological services contribute to the city?s climate by softening the negative impacts that densification of cities means. Thus increases the will and ambition in city planning in to preserve greenery.This is an interdisciplinary thesis within the subject of geography that studies Biotope Area Factor (BAF), a planning tool that is used in city planning with the purpose of compensating for lost ecological services associated with new housing estate.

Today several things point to the fact that many young women are being abused and sexual harassed. Despite that there is no knowledge about how the girls handle the violence or how the battering affects them. For that reason the purpose of this study is to describe and give a picture of some girl?s experiences of being battered of men they have or have had a relationship with. In focus is also how these girls identities are affected of the battering.
