MyMusic ? e-shop för musik i Flash

This is the end report of my final exam at Medieteknik. It covers the planning, work process and review of a Flash based web application that I set out to do. The goal was to create a user friendly, Interactive e-shop with embedded functionality for playing music, displaying rich media content and researching possible payment solutions, to enable buying music files online. The project involved creating the user interface, the programmatic functionality of a Flash client (an SWF file). Also, setting up an Apache HTTP Server and establishing a working ?bridge? between the Flash client and the web server with Flash Remoting components and AMFPHP.

My point of origin concerning this thesis was an interest for how school may develop students? reading comprehension. International surveys show that the results for Swedish students? performance regarding reading comprehension have declined and the current curriculum, Lgr-11, emphasizes the importance of incorporating this into all school subjects. The special teacher education programme has raised the awareness concerning the importance of including the students and that learning is achieved in an Interactive setting.

An increasing number of peole are resisting the attraction of living around nature and opting instead to spend their lives in cities. Parks and green areas play an important part in our well-being and we become fascinated with the diversity of nature, in which we find a peacefulness that is unique. Amongst other things, being surrounded by nature can reduce high blood presure, lower the production of stress hormones and stimulate the mind and our ability to concentrate. It is therefore vitally important to entice city residents to parks and green areas to improve their physical and mental well-being. Previous research has shown that humans are seeking for certain characteristics in the parks and green areas which they are visiting.

The number of new estate agent offices is increasing yearly and each year many hundred new estate agents graduate. The comparing of estate agents by sellers has perhaps been most common in larger cities, but as competition has increased even in smaller towns we experience that it has become a common phenomenon even there. We both come from a small town but are not afraid of the idea of moving to a larger city as newly qualified estate agents. We ask ourselves, which are the determining factors in the choice of a estate agent in a large city as opposed to a small town? Can we see any differences? The purpose with this essay is to give us added knowledge about which factors private persons consider to be important in their choice of an estate agent when selling a house.The body of information is based on two parallel surveys, one in Hudiksvall and one in Stockholm, together with interviews of people in this line of business.

Visualisering av FRAM

The Functional Resonance Accident Model is a method developed to analyze complex systems for the purpose of accident prevention. In FRAM-analysis a visualization of the complex system is created as an aid for identifying points of interaction in the system where the risk of accidents is high, and to determine where preventive measures are to be placed. FRAM Visualizer is a computer program developed as a tool for creating such visualizations.Many usability problems have been identified in FRAM visualizations created both manually according to established method and by using the FRAM Visualizer software. The purpose of this paper is to give a basis for how FRAM visualizations can be improved in accordance with usability criteria for use in future qualitative studies.The author suggests alterations to the FRAM visualization to resolve usability issues identified in previous articles and to achieve usability goals derived from visual communication theory. The design process is guided by established design principles.

BOEL-lampan : Utveckling av en lampa för visualisering av elförbrukning i hemmet.

Den här rapporten behandlar det examensarbete som har utförts på avancerad nivå av Elin Engquist på utbildningen Innovation och produktdesign vid Mälardalens högtskola. Arbetet har utförts under våren 2009 i samarbete med Interactive Institute's avdelning Energy Design i Eskilstuna. Examensarbetet har avsett produktutveckling av en artefakt för visualisering av elförbrukning i hemmet med anledning av den ständigt ökande konsumtionen av hushållsel. Artefakten har under arbetets gång döpts till BOEL-lampan och framtagandet av denna har skett som en del av forskningsprojektet Visuale som utförts vid Interactive Institue. Forskningsprojektet syftade till att göra konsumeter mer medvetna om sin elförbrukning och som en del av projektet behövde en forskningsstudie genomföras.

The aim of this master's thesis is to study what attitude public libraries in Sweden show towards video games. By using critical discourse analysis as both theory and method we analyse several texts emerging from a debate mainly discussed in blogs. Main topics in the debate are video games in the library, the purpose of the public library and Library 2.0. Our analysis focus on views expressed concerning the work and purpose of the public library, the librarian and the library user - and to identify the main visible discourses in the discussion.Our findings consist of two discourses representing two different views in the debate. We call these two discourses the general educational discourse and the Interactive discourse.

Den lesbiska blicken : En undersökning av blick och betraktarskap utifrån tre målningar av Romaine Brooks

This paper aims to investigate the terms and conditions of a lesbian gaze and a lesbian spectatorship from a feminist and queer theoretical point of view. The empirical material consists of three paintings by the American artist Romaine Brooks (1874-1970).  Brooks was based in Paris in the early 20th century where she was surrounded by a group of intellectual and usually cross-dressing lesbians. The women within this context are the ones depicted in Brooks? paintings and this makes her one of the first artists in modernity to openly portray lesbian and cross-dressing women.

Hitman vs. Hitman : En adaptionsanalys av spelserie och film

AbstractUppsatsen handlar om tv-spelen Hitman: Blood Money (2006) och Hitman: Absolution (2012) samt dess adaptionsförhållanden till filmtolkningen Hitman (2007). Spelen är utvecklade av det danska spelföretaget IO Interactive och filmen är regisserad av den franska regissören Xavier Gens. Analysen är baserad på åtta teoretiska texter varav en text handlar om tv-spel och dess förhållande till film, fyra texter om adaption (varav två närmare går in på auteurteorier), en text om våld, en text om skräck och slutligen en text om genreteori. Uppsatsen tar upp problematiken i adaptionsprocessen med fokus på överföring från spel till film och sedan vice versa.Den tar också upp tre fördjupningsämnen som är anpassade till spelen och filmen samt ett mindre fördjupningsämne om vem som har rätt till att kalla sig auteur. Dessa tre primära fördjupningsämnen är skräck, våld och genre.
