A new curriculum, Lgr11, was introduced in Sweden during the Autumn Semester 2011. My aim in this paper is to investigate whether an integrated and interdisciplinary approach is possible within this new Swedish curriculum.Firstly, I will describe the approach to Integration and interdisciplinary work used in the new Swedish curriculum. Secondly, I will analyze whether the curriculum allows for an integrated and interdisciplinary work.The method used in this paper is a qualitative textual analysis and analyzing the new curriculum´s approach to Integration and interdisciplinary education has been the focus. The analysis has been based on the explicit and implicit basics of Integration and interdisciplinary work in the curriculum.I assume theories of subject Integration and curricula to come up with my results in the paper.To conclude, the results of my analysis of the curriculum show that an integrated and interdisciplinary approach is not only possible, but it is also each school Principal's responsibility as well as part of each teacher`s objective. The Principal's responsibility is to ensure that the Integration and interdisciplinary approach is undertaken in school. The curriculum is clear that teachers should let their students work interdisciplinary as well as vary their methods of teaching.

 This work is a study, conducted by interviews, of how teachers evaluate the concepts of inclusion and Integration. The aim of this work is to obtain views on the possible differences between teachers' own definitions and the previous research definitions. The earlier published research which was read during this work, together with the three interviews which were conducted is the basis for the study. I've done three interviews in which two of the people interviewed are active teachers and the third who works as an assistant headmaster at a school located in a suburb of Stockholm. The interviewed teachers have been working for different periods in the school which gave me the opportunity to highlight differences between teachers definitions depending upon the experience they had.

A logical cause of migration is of course immigrants which is a topic always creating discussions. When arriving in a new country a process of Integration with the goal to adapt to the environment is started. This study will explore the need for Integration and seeks to examine the connection between population composition and radical right opinions.To fulfill the aim, a multivariate regression analysis is done on aggregated level in Sweden with statistics concerning the year of 2010. The relation between ethnic composition and voters support for the Swedish radical right party Sverigedemokraterna is studied as well as Integration as an explanatory intermediate factor operationalized through unemployment, financial assistance and trust.The results of the study indicate a positive connection between immigrants from EU/EFTA and the voter support for Sverigedemokraterna. A negative relation is identified between trust and the voter support for Sverigedemokraterna.

The purpose of my essay is to see how teachers are working to integrate the two subjects Art and Swedish in their teaching, and to see how this Integration is made. What do teachers think about subject-Integration? What are the positive effects of it? Are there any difficulties involved? Do the teachers prioritize cooperation with other subjects?To answer my questions I have interviewed eight teachers, four of them in upper secondary school and four in lower secondary school. I have also studied literature about subject-Integration and children?s learning, curriculum?s and syllabi in the subjects of Art and Swedish.The results of my study show that the interviewed teachers are positive when it comes to integrating Art and Swedish and other subjects.

Within the political science research it is common to examine the effects on the national parliaments caused by European Integration. In this Bachelor Thesis the aim is instead to show what involvement of the national parliaments in the European Union implicates to the European Integration process.The object of examination is the introduction of the parliaments as supervisors of draft legislative acts, this is also known as ?the Early Warning Mechanism?, through the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. An analysis of answers from the national parliaments in the tests of three pilot cases, conducted by the COSAC, is made with help of Institutional theory and an Europeanization perspective.The main findings show that the mechanism of early warning probably will not become an obstacle for continued European Integration, but it could slow down the process in some areas. Most probably though is that the mechanism forces the national parliaments to adapt and to be better equipped to react at events taking place at the European level.

In contemporary Sweden political participation among foreign-born Swedes is viewed as low and it is well known that foreign-born individuals do not use their voting rights to the same extent as the general population. At the same time there are numerous ethnic associations around the country who work with various activities involving political, democratic and Integration issues. This study aims to study how four members of a Somali association regard, relate to and work with politics, democracy and Integration. The study is based on these four people, but also on their relationship with authorities and other agencies in the community. The conclusion of this study shows in brief that the desire to participate politically is great, but that democracy and politics is accessible to all, depending on the level of language skills and what political knowledge the individual has.

Idag är Integration ett aktuellt ämne och berör många människor i samhället, inte minst på grund av globaliseringen som pågår. Med Integration menas att alla ska ha samma rättigheter och skyldigheter i samhället och därmed behandlas lika, oavsett vilken härkomst man tillhör, vilken socioekonomisk status man har eller vilket kön man tillhör etcetera. Motsatsen till och vad som motverkar Integration är segregation. Man kan säga att de båda benämningarna är beroende av varandra. Utan segregation så kan man inte tala om någon Integration, och framför allt inte arbeta mot en sådan eftersom det i så fall inte finns identifierbara grupper att integrera med varandra. Integration är ett komplext ämne och bör preciseras i sitt sammanhang för att ordet skall ha någon betydelse. I politiken används ordet flitigt, ofta utan att preciseras och därmed blir politikernas ord ganska diffusa. Detta skapar problem i till exempel kommunernas arbete för Integration.

ABSTRACT This research explores how the Work Integration Center (AIC) supports unemployed immigrants in acquiring jobs and how the practical work helps immigrants in entering the labour market. It employs qualitative research approach through semi-structured interviews staff members at AIC and municipal commissioners of education and labour market in the municipality of Malmö. Its aim is to examine how governmental setup guidelines were represented in the practical work. These guiding principles of the organization are presented at the top of municipality. The findings suggest that even if the staff has no knowledge of the official measures of the Integration plans, they have implemented the aims and criteria in their work with the immigrants.

The purpose of this essay was to examine the role of the acquisition of the Swedish language for Integration of adult immigrants given by the seven parties currently in the parliament and other players on the field. The questions were meant to bring light upon the arguments used by the different players concerning the role of the Swedish language, to enlighten which discourses that are constructed, and the contradictions that exist between these. We parted from a postmodern position and used social constructionism to back up our method and theory of analysis; discourse theory. The results revealed three different discourses concerning the role of the Swedish language in the Integration process; the liberal discourse, the discrimination discourse and the social democratic discourse. The liberal discourse claims that immigrants have a responsibility to learn Swedish to be able to achieve employment and to provide for themselves.

The present study discusses the political Integration of immigrants in local government in the muncipality of Växjö from 1971 to 1991 in the form of representation. The main data source consists of lists of people holding local commissions of trust in the various boards and committés appointed by the municipality council, as well as in the council itself. These data are then compared to population statistics from Statistics Sweden. Main findings of the study are that immigrants are insufficiently represented in relation to their proportion of the population. It is suggested that this is a result of structural discrimination and possibly insufficient socialisation..

Syftet med denna studie är att belysa språkets betydelse vid integrering av nyanlända invandrarelever. Jag har undersök hur vida eleverna uppfattar sitt mottagande i den svenska skolan och hur eller om lärare kartlägger elevens språk- och kunskapsutveckling. Resultaten är baserade på information från personintervjuer och hur denna information korrelerar med min valda teori. Jag använde ett teoretiskt ramverk av Lev Semjonovitj Vygotskij som är en erkänd pedagogisk teoretiker. Resultaten av min studie visar att svaren från mina intervjuer stämmer väl överens med min valda teori: att omgivning och utveckling går hand i hand.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka socialarbetares förståelse av ensamkommande barns Integration i det svenska samhället och de tillvägagångssätt olika aktörer, däribland socialarbetare, har när de arbetar med detta. Metoden som vi valde att använda var kvalitativ intervju och för att analysera resultaten använde vi oss av systemteori och empowerment. Resultaten visar att språk, skola och en meningsfull fritid var viktiga delar för barnens Integration i samhället. Socialarbetarna i vår studie uppgav att de inte arbetar praktiskt med barnens Integration, att det är boendepersonalen/familjehemmet och de gode männen som ansvarar för detta. Viktiga slutsatser i studien var att intresset för de ensamkommande barnen var svagt från samhällets sida och att socialarbetarna ansåg att de dokument som används inte alltid var anpassade för de ensamkommande barnen.

The aim of this paper is to make an investigation of how authoritative conceptual framework about immigrants as a group is being constituted in the discourse regarding Swedish language for immigrants. I will also examine what connections there are to the overarching Integration discourse. While doing this I try to establish the contrasting relationship between the ?Swedishness? and ?the Other?. My theoretical framework consists of discussions regarding groups and the relation to homogeneity or heterogeneity in various ways and how We tend to construct the discourse in relation to the Other.

This paper examines if European Integration has had an impact on national political parties by looking at the stances of the Swedish Green Party and the Left Party on the issue of the European Community and the European Union over time. With the development of the European Community and the European Union, national political parties face the challenge of an emerging political arena. European Integration research has recently become more involved with what is called europeanization and political Integration within the member states them self, this paper aims to provide further leverage to the thesis that national political actors undergo some degree of europeanization and are politically integrated in the EU, by examining manifestos of two historically eurosceptic Swedish political parties. The theoretical framework provided by neo-functional Integration theory as well as europeanization is used to examine the empirical material in order to see if the political parties at the focal point of this study can be said to have undergone a change in political policy regarding the EC and EU, both in quantity and content. The analysis show that indeed both parties has undergone a change and what might be considered a europeanization, considering that the presence of the EU as a political issue seem to have risen in prominence and importance in the examined manifestos.

This thesis in sociology was based on a qualitative research strategy. Its intention was to analyze how a specific county in the middle of Sweden work to make the Integration process of the unaccompanied refugee youths, with a Swedish residence permit, as good as possible, the other intention was to find out the possible following of this work.Interviews were done and statistics were found, this later on became analyzed together with the theories. The basic theories were Integration and class theory.The mainly finding in this study was that that the Integration of the unaccompanied refugee children leads them into a lower society class of the Swedish community. This since these youth are more of less forced to follow some steps in the education, which for many of them will lead to that they are too old to apply to the national gymnasium in Sweden, and therefore they only get education though the introduction program, which is not leading to a graduation from the gymnasium. Because of this they are not getting the same chances to succeed with the same kind of education as youth on other programs in the Swedish gymnasium..
