The environmental requirements and laws on combustion engine emissions are very tough today andthey will become even more stringent in the future. To achieve these requirements there are highdemands on the control systems for these engines. An improved precision in the measurement of anengine's speed and position gives the electronic control system an even better timing when it comes tofuel injection and ignition. This makes the engine more fuel efficient, reducing the emissions. This thesisis part of a collaborative project between Hoerbiger Control Systems and subsidiaries.

The aim of this master thesis is to evaluate the performance of the content-based image retrieval system ImBrowse from a semantic point of view. Evaluation of retrieval performance is a problem in content-based image retrieval (CBIR). There are many different methods for measuring the performance of content-based image retrieval systems, but no common way for performing the evaluation. The main focus is on image retrieval regarding the extraction of the visual features in the image, from three semantic levels. The thesis tries to elucidate the semantic gap, which is the problem when the systems extraction of the visual features from the image and the user?s interpretation of that same information do not correspond.

I denna uppsats vänder vi siktet mot de professionella vuxna som arbetar med ensamkommande flyktingbarn. Syftet med studien är att skapa förståelse för och synliggöra den professionella socialarbetarebs åsikter och erfarenheter kring sitt arbete och med det som utgångspunkt problematisera bemötandets betydelse för ensamkommande barns etablering/integration i Sverige. Bakgrunden till studien återfinns kring en förförståelse kring en bristande integrationspolitik och att individer med invnadrarbakgrund många gånger hamnar i utanförskap genom majoritetens utmålande av invandrare som främmande och kulturellt avvikande. Arbetet med uppstasen bygger på en kvalitativ ansats där empirin baseras på intervjuer.Resultatet påvisar integrationens komplexitet och att personalen upplever att de saknar strategier för det integrationsfrämjande arbetet. I tolkningen av empirin kan vi utläsa flertalet motsägelser däribland att ansvaret för integrationen åläggs den enskilde individen samtidigt som informanterna ger uttryck för nödvändigheten av ett ömsesidigt bemötande.

Vid ett företagsförvärv måste det nya företaget införlivas och informationssystemen måste integreras. Integration av informationssystem åstadkoms oftast genom implementation av ett affärssystem. En lyckad implementation av affärssystem är en implementation som håller satta ramar för tid och budget. Implementationen av ett affärssystem leder till stora avbrott i verksamheten. I den här uppsatsen har jag studerat hur en implementation av ett affärssystem vid företagsförvärv genomförs, i syftet att integrera informationssystem, utan stora avbrott i verksamheten.

This study investigates communication and data in information systems. The paper deals, more specificly, with communication in a CRM-system implemented in a Swedish-founded company in Beijing, China. It discusses cultural, political, linguistic and gender based dilemmas that can arise from the use of a CRM-system in an international and bilingual environment. Fifty-nine interviews were conducted in Sweden and in China, either in Swedish or English. The result of this study shows that communication in the information system is affected by factors, that are not originated in technical shortcomings of the system, but rather from cultural, political, linguistic and gender based pre-knowledge among individuals.

The aim of this essay is to examine how educated immigrants from former Yugoslavia are experiencing the Swedish labor market and if they feel that there are factors that complicate their ability to establish themselves in the Swedish labor market. We have also examined whether and if so, how their status has changed in connotation with the move to Sweden. The method we have used is a qualitative interview study where we asked questions from a semi-structured interview guide. We chose to make use of both previous research and a number of analytical tools for using these to interpret inequality and discrimination that exist in the Swedish labor against educated immigrants. The results presented four factors that our respondents perceive contribute to difficulty in establishing themselves in the Swedish labor market, these are: contacts, name, validation and trainee post.

In past decades information technology has changed the conditions of organizations, not at least within the industry. Advanced IT systems have become a fact in order to cope with rapid changes in the market and to effectively manage an organization?s knowledge. When organizations became more flexible and customized expectations from customers and stakeholders also become higher. These expectations and guidelines are documented in a company?s management system, which can be designed differently depending on what standards the company chooses to implement.

The projects objective is to find an alternative method of heating (the current method being via electric heating) the sewage treatment plant on the island Utö in Stockholm?s archipelago in order to reduce the energy consumption and ultimately the cost for heating the plant. The project is given by ?Skärgårdsstiftelsen? (The Archipelago Foundation) and is a part of the larger EU-project ?Green Islands?.A model for the plants total heating demand is established in order to get a good perception of how much money can be saved using alternative heating methods. The heating demand model gives an annual heating demand of approximately 32 500 kWh and a maximum heating power demand of around 24,7 kW.

I takt med att GIS (Grafiska InformationsSystem) blir allt vanligare och mer användarvänligt har WM-data sett att kunder skulle ha intresse i att kunna koppla information från sin verksamhet till en kartbild. Detta för att lättare kunna ta till sig informationen om hur den geografiskt finns utspridd över ett område för att t.ex. ordna effektivare tranporter. WM-data, som det här arbetet är utfört åt, avser att ta fram en prototyp som sedan kan visas upp för att påvisa för kunder och andra intressenter att detta är möjligt att genomföra genom att skapa en integration mellan redan befintliga system. I det här arbetet har prototypen tagits fram med skogsindustrin och dess lager som inriktning.

Chapter 1 defines the aim of the project and gives a general orientation about ground heat extractors. In chapter 2 physical processes that could be expected to be involved in the heat transport around a ground heat exchanger are discussed. It is shown from a literature study what amount of moisture transport due to thermal gradients there could be expected in a ground heat exchanger. The conclusion is drawn that the moisture gradient (Sr) is of same magnitude as the driving temperature gradient (°C). At the expected amount of increased moisture around the pipes the moisture transport could be considered to have a little effect on the brine temperature.

Bakgrund: Det har skett stora omstruktureringar och förändringar inom den svenska elmarknaden sedan avregleringen och elmarknadsreformen 1996. En omfattande konsolidering har skett inom alla led i värdekedjan, både i form av vertikal och horisontell integration. Medan elhandeln har börjat verka under konkurrens, utgör nätverksamheten ett naturligt och legalt monopol. Marknaden både på elhandels- och nätsidan domineras av tre aktörer, Sydkraft. Vattenfall och Birka Energi, som har expanderat kraftigt både vertikalt och horisontellt och som tillsammans har nästan 50 procent av alla anslutna kunder.

Redan innan barn börjar skolan har de föreställningar inom matematik och naturvetenskap.Syftet med mitt examensarbete är att jämföra lärares arbetssätt gällande begreppsutveckling i matematik och naturvetenskap samt deras sätt att integrera dessa ämnen? i förhållande till målen och valda teorier. De mål jag avser är de som berör begreppsutveckling i läroplanen Lpo94, läroplanen för förskolan Lpfö98 samt kursplanerna för matematik och naturorienterade ämnen. Jag har använt mig av kvalitativa lärarintervjuer och observationer. Resultaten jag kunde se är att medvetenheten kring den matematiska begreppsbildningen är hög både bland förskolelärarna och lärarna i undersökningen.

This study aims to examine the effect the evaluation system used by the Stockholm County Council, has on how the healthcare providers themselves conduct the evaluation regarding their own operations. This is done through a qualitative case study of the evaluation systems of the Stockholm County Council and of four primary healthcare producers concerning one primary healthcare contract. The evaluation systems were analysed using Merchant and Ver der Stede's (2007) framework for different types of control. In order to give a more detailed picture this framework was complemented with different types of performance measurement. The evaluation that the Stockholm County Council conducts was found to have little influence on the providers own evaluation with the exception of the quality indicators that are rewarded with a monetary bonus..

Sedan 80-talet har inställningen till funktionsplanering av städer svängt från funktions- uppdelning till funktionsblandning. Anledningen är att funktionsblandning främjar stadsmiljöer för fotgängare och cyklister, ökar det sociala klimatet i gaturummet och minskar miljöpåfrestningarna genom möjlighet till samordnad logistik. Men även om stadsrum och stadsformer på pappret i många fall anpassas för att stödja funktionsbland- ning så blir resultatet inte alltid en funktionsblandad stad. Idag börjar planeringsfältet inse att istället för att planera funktionsblandning måste de incitament som stödjer funktionsblandning planeras för. För att möjliggöra denna planering måste verktyg och analysmetoder användas och utvecklas för att mäta vilka grader och typer av funktions- blandning som en plan har potential för.
