The aim of this paper is to make an investigation of how authoritative conceptual framework about immigrants as a group is being constituted in the discourse regarding Swedish language for immigrants. I will also examine what connections there are to the overarching integration discourse. While doing this I try to establish the contrasting relationship between the ?Swedishness? and ?the Other?. My theoretical framework consists of discussions regarding groups and the relation to homogeneity or heterogeneity in various ways and how We tend to construct the discourse in relation to the Other.

Diskursen om integration fortsÀtter att dominera den offentliga debatten ochhÀnvisar till ?invandrare? som en icke-integrerad grupp som ska integreras bland ?oss? integrerade svenskar. Med hjÀlp av en diskursanalys har syftet med denna uppsats varit att utröna pÄ vilket sÀtt den svenska integrationsdiskursen bidrar till, eller motverkar, reproduktionen av ?vi- och dom?-tÀnkande och andrefiering av personer med invandrarbakgrund i det svenska samhÀllet. Detta eftersom diskursen om integration Àr en viktig del i integrationsarbetet.

I mitten av 1900-talet steg antalet kvinnor pÄ arbetsmarknaden dramatiskt vilket fick tillföljd att debatten kring möjligheten till balans mellan arbete och fritid, work-life balance, tog fart pÄ allvar.Det övergripande syftet med denna studie Àr att bringa en bredare förstÄelse kring kvinnor i förhÄllande till aspekter av arbete, som berör balansen mellan privatliv och yrkesliv. Intentionen Àr att tillföra personalomrÄdet en djupare och bredare förstÄelse kringde villkor som kvinnliga arbetstagare dagligen mÄste förhÄlla sig till och dÀrmed ocksÄ arbetsgivare.Resultatet visar, utifrÄn kvinnornas berÀttelser, att samhÀlleliga förutsÀttningar för balans och integration, jÀmstÀlldheten i parrelationen och dess betydelse för balans och integration samt kvinnornas egna strategier kring balans och integration Àr viktiga aspekter för kvinnorna i hur de balanserar och hanterar work-life balance.Det har Àven visat sig att förÀndringar i ovannÀmnda perspektiv av work-life balance Àr smÄ mellan generationerna. I de samhÀlleliga förutsÀttningarna för balans och integration syns tydliga förÀndringar mellan generationerna. Politiska och organisatoriska förutsÀttningar har förÀndrats över tid. Nya hjÀlpmedel och möjligheter för individen har etablerats och den samhÀllsekonomiska situationen förÀndrats.

Varje Är begÄr ungefÀr 1100 personer sjÀlvmord i Sverige, fortfarande finns det mÄnga obesvarade frÄgor om hur sjÀlvmord kan förhindras. Syftet med denna studie Àr att undersöka om graden av social integration i ett samhÀlle kan förklara de skillnader i sjÀlvmordstal som rÄder mellan Sveriges kommuner. Èmile Durkheims teori om egoistiska sjÀlvmord har anvÀnts som teoretisk utgÄngspunkt och i tolkningen av studiens resultat. Studien bygger pÄ data frÄn statistikansvariga myndigheter samt data över sjÀlvuppskattad hÀlsa frÄn den nationella folkhÀlsoenkÀten. För att analysera datan har vi anvÀnt oss av korrelationsanalyser och regressionsanalyser som vi gjort i statistikprogrammet SPSS.

This paper examines if European integration has had an impact on national political parties by looking at the stances of the Swedish Green Party and the Left Party on the issue of the European Community and the European Union over time. With the development of the European Community and the European Union, national political parties face the challenge of an emerging political arena. European integration research has recently become more involved with what is called europeanization and political integration within the member states them self, this paper aims to provide further leverage to the thesis that national political actors undergo some degree of europeanization and are politically integrated in the EU, by examining manifestos of two historically eurosceptic Swedish political parties. The theoretical framework provided by neo-functional integration theory as well as europeanization is used to examine the empirical material in order to see if the political parties at the focal point of this study can be said to have undergone a change in political policy regarding the EC and EU, both in quantity and content. The analysis show that indeed both parties has undergone a change and what might be considered a europeanization, considering that the presence of the EU as a political issue seem to have risen in prominence and importance in the examined manifestos.

This thesis in sociology was based on a qualitative research strategy. Its intention was to analyze how a specific county in the middle of Sweden work to make the integration process of the unaccompanied refugee youths, with a Swedish residence permit, as good as possible, the other intention was to find out the possible following of this work.Interviews were done and statistics were found, this later on became analyzed together with the theories. The basic theories were integration and class theory.The mainly finding in this study was that that the integration of the unaccompanied refugee children leads them into a lower society class of the Swedish community. This since these youth are more of less forced to follow some steps in the education, which for many of them will lead to that they are too old to apply to the national gymnasium in Sweden, and therefore they only get education though the introduction program, which is not leading to a graduation from the gymnasium. Because of this they are not getting the same chances to succeed with the same kind of education as youth on other programs in the Swedish gymnasium..

To create fair conditions between majority and minority in Sweden is a challeging project. Male immigrants usually do not get same opportunities for a success identity structure and integration into Swedish society as women and children. The aim of this thesis is therefore to critically examine and analyse the processes regarding identity structure and integration for male immigrants with a specific focus on Helsingborg. The object of this study is Mansgrupp, a project which helps men to build up a secure ground for identity structure and which further helps them to integrate into the society. To be able to reach the results I have made a literature study as well as a minor field study in Helsingborg, where I conducted interviews with men from the above mentioned project.

BakgrundI tidigare forskning har det framkommit att den svenska skolan och förskolan inte kommitsÀrskilt lÄngt i sitt arbete med integration och utvecklande av interkulturelltförhÄllningssÀtt. Vidare visar tidigare forskning ocksÄ att förskollÀrare i stor utstrÀckning anvÀnder sig av ett reciprokt eller kompensatoriskt arbetssÀtt. HÀr finns ocksÄ belagt att förskolan som kulturell arena Àr en lÀmplig plattform för integration och för det förebyggande arbetet med att motverka dikotomier som exempelvis ?vi? och ?dom?.SyfteSyftet med studien Àr att undersöka ett pÄgÄende integrationsprojekt som syftar till att öka antalet möten mellan barn frÄn segregerade omrÄden i en kommundel i södra Sverige. Undersökningens huvudsakliga fokus kommer att beröra pedagogers, arbetsgivares och projektledares uppfattningar kring integration i förskolan samt vilka förvÀntningar som finns kring det pÄgÄende projektet.MetodFör att inhÀmta analyserbart material till studien har verktyget selfreport anvÀnds.Selfreport innebÀr att respondenterna ombeds svara pÄ frÄgor i löpande text.Respondenterna bestÄr av tre förskollÀrare, tvÄ arbetsgivare och tvÄ projektledare.Resultatet har sedan analyserats kvalitativt.ResultatResultaten visar att de tillfrÄgade pedagogerna, arbetsgivarna och projektledarna innehar liknande uppfattningar kring vad begreppet integration stÄr för och de uttrycker att de tror att ökad integration leder till ökade möjligheter till lika villkor i samhÀllet.

Being an immigrant in a Swedish school today might not be easy. ItÂŽs quite difficult to be accepted and becoming a part of an already functioning group. Difficulties with the Swedish language doesnÂŽt make it easier. Besides that the requisites of the school curriculum program are very demanding and Swedish students are often in advantage already being a part of the system for many years.By following five immigrant boys in grade 6 during ten ensemble lessons, one concert and individual interviews with the boys as well as with their teacher, this study aims to investigate how ensemble playing can function as a social tool and promote interaction as well as integration.The results in this study show that ensemble playing in fact can function as a social tool. The boys developed abilities in playing an instrument as well as cooperating and analyzing by using the social tool of ensemble playing.The results even show that ensemble playing can promote interaction as well as integration.Above everything was the concert where the boys acted in front of their classmates and were treated with great respect and acceptance..

This study discloses Swedish human service organizations and their methods of integrating unaccompanied children into the Swedish society. The purpose of the study is to investigate how social workers at HVB-homes for unaccompanied children depict their experience in and knowledge of how the unaccompanied children are integrated into Swedish society. The method of investigating the questions raised by the purpose of this thesis has been qualitative analysis of answers derived from interviewing personnel at HVB-homes for unaccompanied children. In doing so we have made use of a semi-structured method of interviewing the above-mentioned personnel. The data derived from these interviews has thereafter been analysed and filtered through the concept of integration and the theoretical formations human service organizations and street-level bureaucrats.

This essay seeks to gain understanding on the thoughts of Konrad Adenauer regarding the future of Europe in the post-WWII era, and European integration in particular. The material used is his memoirs, which gives an insight into the part of his thought that he chose to share with the rest of the world. The essay uses an analytical framework of three theories, popular within the academic discipline of international relations: realism, liberalism and constructivism. The conclusion it draws is that none of the theories can in a satisfying way describe Adenauer?s thoughts, but rather that they all in some way describe certain elements of his thoughts.

The aim of this two years master thesis in Library and Information Science is to examine how librarians and library managers in the three Stockholm suburbs of Alby, FisksÀtra and Rinkeby think and reason about the role of public libraries in the integration process. The aim is also to examine whether their perception differ from that of local politicians at the municipal level. The theoretical framework is Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hanses model for analysis of the local library profile, and Jose Alberto Diaz theory on the integration process. The method used is qualitative interviews. The interviews were recorded and the content was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results of this study show that the library services in the three suburbs, rather than being stipulated by the legal demand for special services towards immigrants, are based on the needs of the local population.
