This bachelor thesis examines the library as a public sphere in the notion of Jürgen Habermas? theory from 1962. The questions asked concerns how the public sphere is discussed in relation to Swedish public libraries today in our late modern society. The analyzed material consists of the Swedish Cultural Bill of 2009 and five qualitative interviews with librarians. The material is analyzed with two of the four social actions presented by the sociologist Maw Weber: value-rational and instrumental.

Syftet med denna studie är att förstå om Utbildningsdepartementets förslag om en ny betygsskala kan fungera i ljuset av elevernas föreställningar om betyg. Enligt förslaget ska fler betygssteg ge mer rättvisa, större tydlighet samt motivera eleverna att lära sig mera. Tanken med den föreliggande enkätundersökningen är att den ska kunna ge djupare insikter i elevernas förståelse och uppfattning av betyg och bedömning. Dessutom undersöker arbetet i vilken mån betyg kan skapa motivation och påverkar studieresultat hos eleverna. Deltagarna i denna enkätundersökning och våra pilotintervjuer är gymnasieelever från årskurs 2 som läser olika nationella program.

Bakgrund:Utifrån aspekten att det är en hård arbetsmarknad och uppfattningen om att behöva ha en utbildning som en väg in på arbetsmarknaden vill vi undersöka vilken inställning studenter har till sina studier.Syfte:Vårt syfte är att undersöka studenters inställning till studier samt undersöka om aspekter som extraarbete, utbildningsprogrammets storlek samt kontakten med studiekamrater, föreläsare och feedback från examinatorer kan påverka studenternas inställning.Metod:Utifrån en kvantitativ metod har vi genomfört en enkätundersökning.Resultat:Det som framkom i vår studie när vi analyserade studenterna i allmänhet var att de mest framträdande anledningarna till att studera var för att utöka sin kunskap, uppnå ett specifikt yrke och för att förbättra sina möjligheter på arbetsmarknaden. Det som var minst framträdande var att man studerade för att träffa nya vänner samt att ett aktivt studentliv var viktigare än studierna. Resultatet påvisar också att de yngre studenterna var mer benägna att studera för att utöka sin kunskap. Dem yngre var dessutom mer benägna till att studera för att träffa nya vänner, de ansåg även i högre utsträckning än de äldre studenterna att ett aktivt studentliv var viktigare än studierna. Den största skillnaden i kön var att kvinnorna var mer benägna att studera för att uppnå ett specifikt yrke än vad männen var..

Syftet med denna studie är att studera vad det diskuteras om i den mediala debatten kring den kulturutredning som lades fram den 12.e februari i år, 2009. Sedan utredningen lagt fram sina förslag till en ny kulturpolitik har diskussionerna varit livliga i media och ofta har de genomsyrats av hård kritik. Diskussionerna baseras många gånger på utredningens förslag om en myndighetssammanslagning och decentralisering av kulturarbetet. Genom studien görs begrepp så som mångfald och kvalitet sig gällande men framförallt berörs aspekter som har med styrning och kommersialism att göra. Materialet som studiens analys baseras på är insamlat från Sveriges största riksstäckande tidningar, Aftonbladet, Dagens nyheter, Expressen och Sveriges dagblad.

The view on which kind of fiction that should be mediated to the public through the Swedish public library system has since the late 60´s been dominated by what in this Master?s thesis is called: ´the discourse on quality of literary fiction´. The aim of this thesis is to examine to which extent this discourse still plays an active role in the Swedish public library system or if that discourse has been replaced by a more market-led, demand responsive view, where the features of ´quality´ and ´culture´ have been downplayed and replaced by a ´customer?s service view´ on how and why fiction should be mediated to the public. The methodological and theoretical perspective in this thesis is led by the understanding of the discourse analysis in Michel Foucault?s ´The Archaeology of Knowledge´.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate and increase the understanding of a present function of today´s public library, namely the function of meeting place; here called the social function or social space. Two small town libraries are included in the study, and the questions examined are:How is this function described at the two libraries and what similarities and differences are there between the two? How can one describe the relation between how the library as social space is described in research and at the libraries? The theoretical framework used in examining these questions, consists of three different discourses in culture policy (the discourse of state, market and civil society) and theories on civil society and the public library. A summary of current research makes visible eight different aspects of the public library as a social space. These aspects functions as parts of the theoretical framework as well.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine the view of literature within Swedish governmental cultural policy. The main issue is to discover changes in attitude towards democracy, literature and library by comparing the attitudes in the governmental policy documents from the 1970s with the governmental policy documents from the 1990s. The theoretical starting point is Danish cultural policy researcher Dorte Skot-Hansens theories of the development of cultural policy in the Nordic countries. My method of analysis is a textual one, analysis of ideas and ideology, focusing on the aspect of signification of a text. The study has an effort of analysing the governmental policy in terms of idea and ideology.

I grundskolans läroplaner Lpo 94 och Lgr 11 ska elever i svensk grundskola få använda dans som uttrycksmedel. Dansen har idag en undanskymd roll i skolan och är inte ett eget ämne. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur lärare i grundskolan som fått uppdraget att undervisa i dans ser på konstformen dans, dansens roll i skolan och vilken kompetens om dans de undervisande lärarna har.I den teoretiska delen i uppsatsen använder jag mig av tidigare forskningsmaterial inom estetiska ämnen och området dans. Studien har genomförts med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer och observationer samt rapporten Kartläggning av dansen i sydost som har sammanställts av Dans i Sydost. I denna studie har jag begränsat mig till fyra skolor i Blekinge län.Resultatet visar att det finns bristande kunskap om ämnet dans i skolorna.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine the roles ofthree different public libraries in three differentcommunities. In order to get some answers about the roles ofthe public libraries I have used the following questions: Howis the local cultural policy formulated? How is the locallibrary structured? What or which profiles has the publiclibraries in the three communities?I have made three qualitative case-studies in three differentcommunities. These three communities are somewhatlocated in the same area in order to identify any cooperationbetween them.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes towards the labour movement?s strategies, goals and organisational issues in Swedish Miners? Union?s (Gruvindustriarbetareförbundet, hereafter Gruv) paper, Gruvarbetaren 1917-1925.The theoretical starting point is Engels? view on the class state. This perspective turns the question of socialism and the way to get there into an issue of working class power over the state. Another theoretical perspective is the partition of the labour movement into a trade-unionistic branch, seeing unions as financial organisations of interest, and a pro-state one, considering unions as political organisations.During the period investigated Gruvarbetaren was quite radical and advocated a firm class struggle strategy towards employers. Since these were considered unreliable, class struggle was seen as the only way to better the conditions for the working class.

Projects is the most common work model within the cultural area, but what is a cultural project? The definition of cultural projects is ambiguous. There are also no compiled information about what it means for culture to be pursued in project form. Scientific research about traditional project management and success criterias are wide-ranging. So is the scientific research about cultural studies and cultural policy.

With the Culture Survey 2009, the Cultural policy in Sweden has got a new direction. The new direction emphasises the importance of broadening the non-public funding for the cultural sector. The new direction opens up new phenomenon to establish themselves in Sweden. Crowdfunding is such a phenomenon. Crowdfunding is an online-method "by which the individual becomes financiers of projects and activities they have passion for" (Jakten pa? medborgarfinansiering, 11).

Sweden of today is a so-called multicultural society. In this thesis we wanted to examine how mono, multi- and intercultural issues are expressed in culture-political documents. We also wanted to know how librarians for whom these documents are supposed to be guidelines expressed themselves in these matters. Monoculturalism can be described as a static perspective laid upon culture which emphasises cultural purity. A multicultural society describes a society were the nation consists of many different cultures alongside each other, without a genuinely common core.

This Bachelor's thesis examines and describes the ideas and ideological traits surrounding the public library within the governmental cultural policy. The Bachelor's thesis demonstrates how the public library ? even though its relevance in the modern society has shifted over time ? has maintained a connection to the governmental cultural policy and has therefore been shaped by the ideological changes in the political sphere as a whole. The main issues are: Which ideas concerning the public library's functions are expressed in the governmental cultural policy? Which ideological tendencies can be identified in the national cultural policy? Which ideas concerning the public library can be extracted through the found ideological tendencies? The method used in order to study the governmental bill is an ideology analysis based on a framework created by Dorte Skot-Hansen.
